all interest in it?
I used to love to DIY and decorate my house. Painting and refinishing furniture seemed fun, making throw pillows and curtains, painting the walls, rearranging furniture. All of it. I loved to watch HGTV for ideas and check out pinterest.
But now that I'm searching for a house I have zero desire. Everything I see looks like so much work that I don't want to do. I'm guessing it comes with the territory of having just had to do all the things you do to sell a house, (which we just did), and so now thinking about moving into a house with the need for paint, or wallpaper removal, or a bathroom floor redo seems daunting. Even though just a year ago I intentionally ripped out flooring, baseboards and a vanity to redo my kids bathroom and had a blast doing it.
Did your love of your hobby come back to you? Or did you just never find the desire again?
I have to wonder if I will forever be in the "buy it new or refurbished by someone else" or the "pay someone else to do it (like painting)" camp.

I don't care about decorating for the holidays anymore. I used to to have a little bit of something to put out for every holiday and way too much for Christmas. I even have Winter decorations! This last year, I did the Christmas tree and put out Winter things which are minimal. I had no desire to put out Easter or St. Patrick's day. I can't say I missed it at all! My teens don't care and my 7 year old with Autism could not care less.
I also have zero desire to put anything on display like knickknacks and photos. My son destroys things frequently. It's not worth the hassle. I used to have a kitchen full of Coca-Cola items. They are boxed up and in the basement. There are still other things that clutter up my house, but it's mainly things that get used.
I'm still torn on scrapbooking. I don't have a life and my kids are average so there's not much to scrap, but I like the crafty aspect of the hobby. I think I've accepted it's okay to do a few pages a year just for the sake of doing something crafty.

I'm in the same boat ... when dh and I bought our first house we were all all about going to the Home and Garden Shows to get ideas and doing a whole bunch of DIY's ... By the time we bought our current house, we painted most rooms and replaced light fixtures ... put in a deck and a hot tub too Now we are lazy ... something has to be really broken down before we work on it

Shopping. When my mom and sister were alive the 3 of us would go out shopping for entire days when we were together. Now an hour at the mall does me in.

He will say "It's just a floor, you have put in every kind of floor, it's not a big deal" and I say "I don't want to, and it is never going to happen, can we live with it as is?" Because I know I am never actually going to do it. Can I do it? Yup. Will I ever get around to it? Probably not!

We were the DIY king and queen, we redid so much of our last house and we knew that going in. This house, we bought brand new as we didn't want to have to do that again. We are getting too old for that. We can make changes or not, but for now, we just move in and enjoy. Even the yard (other than the fence) will be sodded, the deck is built, easy peasy.
I totally understand where you are coming from and validate your feelings.

I used to love discovering new bands, going to local shows and waiting hours to meet bands I loved. Now the thought of going to a concert makes me tired. 15 year old me would think current me is totally lame.

Scrapbooking. I've done two pages in the last two years. I'd like to get back to it someday. I still pin interesting layouts on Pinterest.

For me, it's cooking and baking. When I was first married (over 20 years ago), I loved trying new recipes and chatting about cooking with my friends. Now, I don't find any of it fun. It's just a chore that I dread most days.

Volunteering. For years I volunteered for everything: Sunday School, Youth Group, Girl Scouts, school, band; pretty much everything that my girls were involved in and I loved it. Now that my girls are a college-graduate and an almost-college graduate, I just naturally don't volunteer much anymore... and I'm happy with that! I still do some volunteer work through Church but that's it. I selfishly love that I can come home from work and not have to turn around and run out to a meeting, and that for the most part my weekends are free!

I have been feeling that way about scrapbooking lately. I even bought a video camera because I think I would rather do video than scrapbook. I am current through 2014 but just the thought of starting on my 2015 photos makes me feel like running in the opposite direction.
We also bought a house last year and it definitely was a fixer upper. I did so much work on this house that DH has a list of projects he wants to do this summer and I'm just like meh. I'm over it. I got the house in good enough shape to live in but the thought of more home improvement projects just makes me feel overwhelmed right now. I think I'm going to put off the rest of the projects until next summer.

Stamping/Card Making. I had a clear stamp business with a friend for two years. We closed up shop two years ago and I still can't find the interest to really get back into it as a hobby. I dabble here and there as needed (mostly if someone wants something specific made) or if a friend comes over to "play", but nothing like how it used to be before I had the business. I've toyed with the idea of getting rid of it all and finally being done, but I haven't yet been able to make that decision. Maybe one day...

Two weeks from today, we take possession. Very easy.

I used to love decorating for Christmas. But at this point, I've just lost all interest since I'm the only one who cares. There is only so much indifference you can take before it sucks the fun out.

Yes. When I lost my job a few years ago I got supremely obsessed with building and furnishing a beautiful dollhouse. I always wanted one and I finally had time to do it. It was a really fun, all-consuming project. I was so into it that whenever I wasn't working on it, I was reading blogs about dollhouses or writing my OWN blog about it, which was also fun. I figured i would want to constantly improve it and keep adding things to it and maybe build a second one. But now it's finished, and it sits there and once in a blue moon I go over and look at it. I still like it but I can't believe I was ever so into it.

I've been through that several times in the last decade or so. I love all that decorating, refinishing and making over stuff too, but have been through times when I didn't want to do it anymore. Then many months or even a year or so, I'd be back at it.
Last year at some point, I even considered boxing up my entire craft room and doing something else with that room. Now I've completely moved and reorganized my craft room and it's ready for me use it and I have been. And I remember specifically having a few moments in the early 2000s when I thought I was done with making things. But I always come back to it.

I was another one who over decorated for holidays. My son grew up and moved out and it just wasn't fun anymore. But.....now I have grandchildren and they think my house is magical at Christmas and Halloween.

I was very interested in astrology for a number of years - at one point, I even thought I would like to learn how to read charts professionally. I had read book after book after book about it.
Now, I find it mildly interesting. I would be happy to chat about it over dinner or at a cocktail party, but I can't for the life of me think why I wanted to study it on a professional level.
My scrapbooking/cardmaking waxes and wanes. Even when it has been many months of not touching my stuff, I know better than to get rid of it. For me, the desire always comes back eventually. In between, it's really great to have all my supplies organized for those "last-minute" school projects!

Scrapbooking, writing, photography, decorating ... I'm not sure I have any hobbies any more! I feel like since I have always scrapbook ed since childhood, that eventually I will again, but I got rid of all my supplies after a couple years in school. If I go back to it I will buy stuff again. But I didn't have that much of a stash, I tried to use what I bought. But I don't have time for any hobbies with grad school. I guess research has been my hobby for two years. I'll be glad to give that up in a month.

Home decorating and DIY definitely don't hold the same interest for me as they used to. I now tend to just get things done because they need doing instead of acting on some new ideas or change of decoration just because....!

Definitely decorating for the holidays. I just don't find any joy in it. It might be because I have a smaller house with no space to really put anything and it also might be because I am working full time and the extra work I see to actually get it all out and put it away after each holiday just doesn't appeal to me. It might be different if I didn't work so many hours.
I used to tole paint and did craft shows where I sold all my stuff. It was great at the time because I wasn't working and we would use that money for Christmas, but the thought of doing that again just makes me cringe. I occasionally will do a small craft when I get together with my family, but that is about every 2 years. I like it when I'm doing it, but I've never felt the urge to start painting again.
