I bet that woman who says Christians shouldn't use colouring books that have mandalas in them was one of the ones complaining.

I was a devout Christian until I read that subject line. My deities are now a color wheel, glitter, and modge podge. WHY, Family Christian? WHHHYYYY? !!! Well, glitter IS of the devil, after all. (at least according to my boyfriend, lol! ) I worship patterned paper and scrapbooking tools, myself.

Their tag line sounded odd. I think it is the word "channel" that roused the objection. And using the word creative instead of creativity makes it a noun. So they are saying to channel a noun. I get it (though it would not upset me.)
I can see the apology e-mail. They realize that they may have offended a portion of their customer base, and they are acknowledging that. Nothing wrong with that. Non-Christian organizations do that.

It's not about "creative", it's the "channeling" part that would be offensive to some, since it's a term that is closely related to New Age beliefs. Of course there's nothing wrong with creativity!

The only thing worth apologizing for in that subject line is using the word creative (an adjective) rather than creativity (a noun). "Channel Your Inner Creativity" But you don't have to listen to me if you don't like, as I am not actually Christian. I'm on the bench with Lucy on this one.

If they had said channel your spirit guide to access your creativity I can see some getting up in arms. Spirit guide is new age - channel isn't.

“Channel Your Inner Creative,” what??? would have been my question.
“Channel Your Inner Creative” doesn't make sense. So, as a Christian asking what they mean would be the question to ask. I can see why someone might think 'new age' from it.
Having no idea what 'Family Christian' is either, a publication? book store? I googled it and it looks to be a chain of Christian bookstores. even looks like one I went to several months back. About 20 mi away but the closest one to me that I could find - by googling. Very nice store with very nice, helpful people. I just wanted a highlighter that didn't bleed thru on my Bible pages and ended up spending over $20.00.
If someone thought that phrase was some New Age phrase, I can understand them questioning it from a Christian company and the company heading off any resulting problems from it(like lost customers or just more complaints) by sending out the email.
