Thank you. I watched the entire video. Very interesting. At first, I thought "he's talking politics, not sugar!" But the longer I watched, the more interested I became.
I believe sugar killed my mother. She was diabetic & never understood why she had to limit it and how much of what she ate was filled with it. She was terribly addicted to Coke all my childhood....even used it as a comfort when I was a little girl & felt bad. She did switch to sugar free Coke when she was diagnosed but that is no better imho.
I stopped drinking sodas 20 years ago. I am limiting processed foods & considering limiting meat in my diet.

I think it is maddening how politics have affected our health by way of the food industry, nutrition guidelines, allowing unsafe farming practices and giving big corporations as much power as they have. Even the way that the food pyramid came to be was political and inaccurate.

I think it is maddening how politics have affected our health by way of the food industry, nutrition guidelines, allowing unsafe farming practices and giving big corporations as much power as they have. Even the way that the food pyramid came to be was political and inaccurate. I just watched the episode from the Good Wife where the lobbyists for different food industries were deal making and manipulating to determine what the nations families would be told to eat. Maddening. |

I read Sugar Blues in the seventies. It was written by Gloria Swanson and her partner (I think, it's been a long time). That book totally changed the way I think of sugar. I've tried to limit my sugar intake ever since I read it.
