I noticed a swollen lymph node the other day. It's on the right side. I can't tell how big it is. It's easily movable, slightly tender. I was checking all my head and neck nodes out bc my tonsils are swollen and I happened to find this one. I'm a nurse. I googled. So I either have an infection or lymphoma, according to my research. No weight loss, no night sweats. I have an appt with the dr tomorrow. Has anyone else has this before and it turn out ok? Any P&PT appreciated! Went to Dr. He was concerned and I have an MRI scheduled and follow up appt with surgeon to do biopsy. I'll know more soon. Also, I should have clarified that my tonsils were sore from post nasal drip not infection.

I will be praying for you. I do have lymphoma. Because of it, I get regular CT scans. I just had a cyst removed from my lymph node about a week and a half ago (I am still at home healing from the surgery). I never had any trouble with my cyst, it just showed up in the scan. I had it monitored for a couple of years, even tried to get a biopsy without success twice. At my last ultra sound the results showed it was growing so we decided to get it removed, still waiting for pathology results.
If you need to pm me, please do.

If your tonsils are swollen isn't an infection a strong possibility?

Mine swell every time I get sick. Sometimes they are quite painful, sometimes I don't even notice. There was a period of time when I also had night sweats so I've had a few biopsies over the years but they've always come back clean. I hope yours turns out to be nothing and you're feeling better soon.

Your differential diagnosis for a supraclavicular node is far too narrow. Look back at your anatomy text. It can be from anything going on with the neck, lungs, chest (including breasts), neck or abdomen. That's a lot of body to look at! Hearing that you have swollen tonsils, I would say that infection is the most likely culprit.
When you hear hoof beats, don't go looking for zebras. It's going to be horses much more often!

Every time I get either a viral or bacterial throat infection, my lymph nodes swell. Since your tonsils are swollen, that would be my guess.
When I had shingles on my face in October, just about every lymph node from my armpits to the top of my head were very swollen. I didn't even know I had that many lymph nodes - even 3 that were visible right in front of my ear on my cheek.
Lymph nodes filter the blood when you have an infection, so I'd think that first before jumping to cancer.

My son's lymph nodes swell when he's got a cold, sinus infection, etc. This is me. Even if I'm just fighting a cold, I can feel my lymph nodes.

I thought lymph node swelling and it ended up being a saliva gland infection. Antibiotics and good. Hope all goes well for your appointment!
