Good morning ladies! I can't believe it's Monday again already! Ugh.
I had a fantastic weekend, albeit a bit busy. I'm really looking forward to a quiet week. I work today for a couple of hours but then nothing else planned for the week. I have some much needed spring cleaning that needs to be done so I'd like to at least get started on that.
Official weigh in this morning and I'm up 1.6 lbs this week. Ugh. Annoying but I know why and I'm going to work extra hard this week to lose it and more. I'm going to attempt to vamp up my work outs some. I've noticed that I'm burning fewer and fewer calories in the same amount of time so my body's obviously adjusting to the workouts. I TOTALLY don't feel like doing that today but I'm going to anyway. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet but I have to change it up somehow.
Hope you ladies have a wonderful Monday!!

That sounds awesome to have a quiet week Brandy! My DD starts cardiac rehab this week, and we understand after her orientation that she will go 3x a week plus 2x a week to the doctor. WHAT? Ugh! Wish she could drive! Because of all of her health issues, she has not been able to ever learn to drive. We hope to remedy that now. But running that much will kill me weekly. We will have to come up with a plan for sure especially wth the puppies. They will not be happy either. Oh well. We've got to get her able to head back to the university in August!
And I lost 2.4 lbs. this week. So glad. I met my mini goal to lose 20 lbs. for a total loss of 20.6 lbs. since Feb. 1st! Yes! I am so excited, and hope that motivates me to do great again this week.
Have a great day everyone!

brandy327 Do you weight train at all? That might be a place to start. Patter Your poor dd. Life is so hard for her. I am sure it doesn't help for her to see her two sisters not having these hurdles. Dh is traveling this week starting tomorrow. With that, kid activities, and forecasted rain, I am going to struggle to get my runs in. I would love an inexpensive treadmill that could fold under my bed. Anyone have any suggestions? I bought a bulgur and quinoa blend and made it with beef broth instead of water last night. 1/2 the family liked it. I consider that a success around here lol! I want to try straight up quinoa with some of the recipe suggestions I got last week.

brandy327 Do you weight train at all? That might be a place to start. I've tried on and off to weight train but for some reason I always fall away from it. I have a Bowflex and some free weights that I can use....and really SHOULD use both. I know it's not going to fix all my loose skin problems on my arms but I'm sure it would help some.

Hi ladies. Is it ok if I jump in? I have been reading this thread for awhile and I am finally at a point where I am ready to make a commitment. You are so inspirational and I love reading about everyone's success!
I have always been heavy. I gained a lot of weight after I had my tonsils out when I was 5 and hardly ever looked back. The most I've ever lost is 40 lbs, but I gained it back and then some when I got pregnant. I have done weight watchers and most recently 21 day fix.
For this week, I am just focusing on tracking what I eat and trying to cut out a lot of snacking. I can't do much exercise right now due to some health issues so I will focus on just cleaning up my diet.

brandy327 "they" say that building muscle raises metabolism. Might not help with the skin, but would help with the metabolism.

Glad you are joining us. brandy327 maybe take a look at the bikini body mommy workouts. I'm glad that TankTop recommended them to me. I am still up over 3lbs today. I am not sure if it is still from my period or want but it is frustrating. I haven't done anything that would have caused that much of a gain. I haven't worked out much this past week due to my period but did walk quite a bit Saturday. Yesterday I wasn't feeling well and was very lazy. Getting ready to do my workout when kids get on the bus shortly. Have a great day everyone!

Yes, welcome! Glad to have you joining us! And TankTop, she never says whether it bothers her to see her sisters at school, etc. But her other sister also has major health issues. Her issue requires brain surgery but it is so risky that she would rather live with her terrible symptoms daily. The brain surgery also does not always fix the problem. We know people that have had the surgery 5+ times and still end up with symptoms years later. Not worth it so she suffers. Really sad that I have two 21 year olds with handicap tags. And brandy327, yes, it is a lot of appointments. We are hoping to figure something out. I will definitely be trying to adjust things if they will let me.

4cboysmommy Welcome to the thread! brandy327 The Bowflex is what I've been using and I have noticed my arms looking better (not movie star arms, but better!). I am such a beginner so I don't have any advice but we use it every other day. My husband found a workout online that has been really helpful to us. I can ask my husband where he got it if you are interested.

I can ask my husband where he got it if you are interested. Thank you! I'd love to know what you're using!! I did do a couple of arm exercises on the Bowflex this morning...it literally took 5 mins. LOL But I did it. I also got on the treadmill first, rather than last, this morning. And as I was walking I noticed that I wasn't even getting winded a single bit at my normal "highest" speed. So I bumped it up a few tenths of a mile and jogged. I managed to job for 5 whole mins straight without dying...and then did intervals for the rest of the 25 mins. It felt awesome to be able to job a little...I'm still extra cautious because I don't want to end up injuring my knees and not being able to do anything. I ended up doing a total of 45 mins, including the arm stuff, and burned 336 calories. I'm really hoping that I can continue the jogging and increase the length that I can run at once. Breakfast this morning is oatmeal and a banana. Not sure what lunch will be...maybe a salad. And dinner is something new - grilled chicken, quinoa pasta, peas and carrots all in a parmesan sauce. I'm going to splurge and use either light cream or fat free half and half to make the sauce. I'll probably have a small portion of that and have some broccoli too.

Morning everybody!
Lazy day for me today I think - I have lots of cake orders this week, but I don't need to do much for them until tomorrow & Wednesday.
So I've finished all my charity emails for the week so far, and started some laundry.
My girls are both off today - DD#1 is done University and then has exams next week and DD#2 is having her only day off for the next month! Her work place has a spring tent sale that is huge and runs for 2 weeks, and the next two weeks will be filled with overtime and prep for the sale. They plan to go to the mall today, so I may tag along to pick up some supplies at Michaels and just browse around.
If we do the mall I'll aim for something healthy for lunch if we don't eat before we go!

Can I vent here for a minute? A friend of mine started a Facebook group for friends who want to start exercising and losing weight. For the most part, it is a pretty inactive group. There is one person who started a very low calorie diet last week (900-1000 daily) and has posted continually about how much she is losing. This morning she was complaining about not losing anything over the weekend and "imagine my disappointment that I only lost 6 lbs last week--that's not enough". I really want to say something snarky since I have not only not lost anything this week but gained. Not that I don't want others to succeed, I hope my doesn't come across that way --it's just something about her posts that are driving me crazy. Not to mention that she thinks 6 lbs a week is not a good loss. She said that in the past she lost 70 lbs in 3-4 months.

I would be more inclined to pray for her as I think she might have some issues. You yourself are doing amazing and being healthy about it. Look at your awesome successes and be proud of how you are going about it! Hugs to you!!

Again. I'm buckling down again and doing this right, again. Last April I started counting calories and exercising and I lost a total of 10-12 lbs. Although my goal weight was still 10lbs away, I stopped counting calories and managed to maintain- until the holidays came and now I'm back up 4-5lbs away from where I started last year (still a loss). I'm not sure why I can't get it together again but today is a new day. So far I've logged everything I've eaten and I plan on doing weights and cardio today after work. I'm avoiding sugar for awhile in hopes that I can get this weight loss started again. The one thing that I haven't lost yet is my determination. I'm gonna get there!

How can you tell how many calories you're burning? I have a Polar Fitness Heart Rate Monitor that I wear when I work out and gives me roughly what I'm burning for calories during that time. I also have a smart watch that will tell me the calorie burn when I do certain workouts (walking, running, elliptical, hiking, etc). I find that the watch isn't nearly as accurate as the HRM so I still go by what the HRM tells me.

I've been sick with bronchitis for the last two weeks so I haven't worked out. I can finally climb stairs without feeling wheezy and winded so I think it's ok to head back to the gym. I will restart StrongLifts on Tuesday and Thursday. I stopped around Christmas because I was just so sick of squats. But I love the challenge especially for upper body. And probably try spin on Wednesday.

Hello
Nothing too exciting from me today. I'm trying to walk more around the office during the day - I sit way too much here. My office is upstairs so I have been using the downstairs copier just so I have to get up and walk. It's 11:30 and I already have 11 flights of stairs today.
It's my off running day so I have a 3 mile hike cued up on my ifit/treadmill. I'm walking in Morocco - I love ifit!

I finished the first 7 days of my 14 day challenge. We are keeping our carbs under 50 net grams for 14 days. Feeling pretty good now! Had some "carb flu" symptoms for a few days. It feels good to have gotten rid of the sugar again, even tho I know I always eventually go back to my one true love. Not sure what I will do after the 14 days is up. If I have momentum with this I will keep going a bit longer. There's still some weight to lose. By summer is my goal... Welcome to the new people joining us! Glad to have you!

I'm so ready to get back to healthy and balanced eating. After eating fast food and vending machine snacks at the hospital over the last 3 days, I don't even want to know how much I've gained. I was 2.5 pounds down before, but I'm guessing I undid some of that.
Not to worry, I'm back to good eating today and already feel better. I hate the bloated feeling that comes with eating poorly. I'll just try to pick up where I left off last week and keep trucking.

She said that she needs to lose a certain amount of weight by the end of May in order to have an IVF procedure. I don't know how long she had known about this but it seems like a lot of pressure to put on yourself and maybe not the healthiest thing to do when you are trying to get pregnant.

I think much larger people can easily lose this amount more so than people who are slightly overweight. their bodies burn more calories just to carry the extra weight and that's why they can probably lose weight faster initially. after that, their struggles become like our struggles.

I think what bothers me is the tone of the posts. If she had said, "wow! So happy that I lost 6 lbs last week I can't believe it" I would not be bothered by the post. But when she is complaining about that type of loss it is annoying. Anyway, I am just going to let it go and focus on myself. Just needed to vent so that I could move on and not say something that may come across as rude.

Then again, I've also expressed displeasure at what most people would consider a high number loss...but because I've either lost more initially and then gained it back before weigh in OR knew that I was capable of a bigger loss. But I almost always follow it up with a "I'm thankful I lost" kind of comment because I'm thankful for ANY loss. Even when I was much larger and losing a lot quickly, I don't think I EVER had a loss bigger than 5-6 lbs in a week. That sounds wicked unhealthy and she'll likely gain it back because she's not losing it in a healthy fashion.

brandy327 Lift, lift, lift as much weight as you can! I would rather lift weights the entire day than do an hour of cardio!
Patter- Great job on the loss!
TankTop- If you would like to have these Super Digestive Enzymes- pm me your address. I cannot take them- I think I took 6 or 7 of them. My tummy said NO!
4cboysmommy- Welcome!
iamkristinl16- Some people just like to complain! I think what papersilly said is probably the case.
I had a dr's appt 2 hours away from home today, so a day off from the gym. It was in Augusta and many of the Master's crowd was still around- traffic was bad and restaurants were crowded. So Chick-Fil-a it was- and yes, I had the regular sandwich, fries, and unsweetened tea. It's been forever since I had potatoes and bread! I will have a spinach and strawberry salad for dinner. I never weigh- I just go by how I look and feel. Doctor's scale was 123 lbs- a little less than where I am normally-so all is good. That was before Chick-Fil-A.
