...i'll be back to packing lunches. I'll probably be working 10-12 hour days Monday to Friday and while I'm very experienced in packing lunches the ones I've been packing are for 8 hour days.
I get that I will probably need more protein, I can do that.
What kind of things do you stock up on to throw in your lunches to keep YOUR packed lunches interesting and to provide an energy boost during the day?

Thanks!
Another question... do things like hemp hearts and chia seeds in smoothies and on salads etc actually help keep you full longer?
I tend to get the shakes if i'm hungry and i'm open to all ideas.

Nuts are always an easy portable source of protein and they make a good afternoon snack. And don't forget to drink more water to help avoid that 2:30-3:00 pm energy slump! A lot of times when I'm tired in the afternoon it's because I'm thirsty.

I have no allergies so if you do ignore those items
I will pack 2 snacks and a salad for the day.
I either get 'salad kits' with mixed items ready to go or we usually make our own for salads I keep cooked turkey , chicken or ham cubes, berries, hemp hearts, various salad toppers, nuts, cubes of cheese etc. and various dressings and a tiny dressing container.
If I don't take salad it's home made soup.
For snacks I sometimes get the pre packed nuts/berries/ cheese from sargento but usually it's home made
Hard boiled eggs Cheese Nuts 1/2 peanut butter sandwich Celery and it carrots Apples Banana Pickles ( the big ones ) Sliced zucchini with herbed cream cheese High protein banana bread Protein oat bars
That's all I can think of right now.

I recently started a new job too and can very long days. 1st one was 11 and we're out in a shaved ice truck so not a lot available food wise. I took a peanut butter sandwich/banana, Nutri Grain bar (those things are tiny though), pretzels, and oatmeal cookies. I forgot my cashews but usually get the large jar at Costco to have a portable source of protein that doesn't need refrigeration.

Raw walnuts seem to keep be really full. I make my own little snack packs with my food sealer. Walnuts, chocolate chips, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, sesame sticks (the only salty thing). Then I seal it in 1/2 cup portions. I also seal just walnuts in 1/2 cup portions.

I like wraps with interesting fillings (usually chicken with various other fillings). One of my current favorites is shredded or chopped chicken mixed with mayo and walnuts or macadamia nuts or pepitas, maybe some dried cranberries or chopped celery. Then some greens like lettuce or baby spinach leaves.
I also often take leftovers - that's my favorite kind of lunch!
Will you have access to kitchen facilities? I love having toasted sandwiches for a bit of a change, they're nicer than plain sandwiches which can get a bit boring after a while.
For a snack I like yoghurt or a hard boiled egg. I also like rice crackers because they give me a much needed crunchy savory hit that I would otherwise get from potato chips.

I'll know more of what I am dealing with next week which will make my lunch planning much easier, lol. I don't even know at the moment if there are fridges in the lunchroom.
Thanks for your tips everyone. I'm going to fill my fridge and freezer with things that are easy to grab and since I'll be starting at 5:30 in the morning it's going to have to be things I can pack the night before:).

My schedule is similar 10-12 hours when not traveling. I eat very little fat so this might not work for you but keeps me happy. I keep a pint of grape tomatoes on my desk for snacking. Sometimes I mix them with 1% cottage cheese for protein. I alway have cottage cheese. Have a good sized container of fruit salad, boiled chicken or tuna salad stuffed (minimal light mayo) in mini peppers so they are portable. Apples and other whole fruit, carrots, rice crackers, pretzels and for a treat fireballs.
That's pretty much it since I have a situation where I really do not have time every day to sit and eat so it is just snack or grab and go. I make it all on Sunday and I bring food for the whole week on Monday and leave it in the refrigerator in a tied up bag so I don't have to mess with it during the week. Works for me and I don't feel food sluggish.

My lunch/food for the school day for me..... Dry cereal in a sealed bowl Greek yogurt with honey (or Nutella, or fresh cut up fruit) in a sealed bowl- or buy Greek yogurt cups. Don't forget the spoon! String cheese Nuts in a sealed bowl 2-4 tangerines Hard boiled egg Snack bag of chips Granola bar of some sort (whatever is on sale from Costco at the time) Water bottle of apple juice/ice
All of this fits into my little igloo personal cooler with 2 small blue ice packs. Some days I eat it all, some days I don't. I leave at 6:45 and get home around 4 usually.
I also frequently have a box of crackers or cereal in my car in case I need more filling up.
