For my shoulder. Again. I had 2 surgeries within 6 months, 5 years ago. The last month it's been really hurting and not really going away. It's dejavu pain from 5 years ago. Problem being...do I want a 3rd surgery if it's another tear ? I do not have time for physical therapy..can't take the time from work...so it's more like, let's try a cortisone injection and move on....
Same day my son has an appt to have his MRI results of his knee..not sure what's going on. And...he gets his stitches taken out the same day from having a tissue mass surgically cut from his finger.
Thursday will be a long day!
(Not sure the point of my post...vent maybe?) .....

Sorry to hear that you have all that going on. I hope you get good news at the doctor and it is something that can be easily resolved without surgery.

I'm sorry! You deserve a good long vent followed by a good long bath and a good glass of wine.

Would home physical therapy be an option? I was in therapy for 12 weeks after my tibial plateau and saw several patients come in and do a few sessions and then get put on a home plan after they learned all the exercises.

Without being able to do physical therapy I would say no. My view is a little bias though. I had a torn ligament in my ankle replaced and the surgery didn't work because I was taking care of my grandma and couldn't do physical therapy. One of my close friends had shoulder surgery and I know how painful it was for her but it was worth it to her since she could do physical therapy. Pain is the worst. I would see if an injection helped first.

I've had an on-going knee injury for a few months (and chronic problems with it). I put off seeing anyone for a few weeks and then started the round of seeing a general doctor twice and referred to ortho. Got the MRI and it showed a possible meniscus tear. Was reluctant to get the injection but finally did. It wasn't the most pleasant experience but it sure did help at least with most of the pain. My knee still locks and painfully pops but so far, I can live with it.
Only had to go to PT once to get home exercises. Finding time to do them has been a whole different issue. We're getting ready for a home appraisal and I'm starting a new job and looking for another. Ugh. The job I have is pretty physical so I can only hope that my knee holds out. I haven't even been going line dancing that I discovered in January (unrelated to knee injury). I loved it but can't risk it right now. I hope to get back to it. If you had surgery, you'd probably need a bunch more PT.
All that to say, I feel your pain and frustration. If I were you, I would try the shot and see but even those have their limitations and from what I know, you shouldn't get too many. Good luck.
