I was a late comer too! Now I go every 2-3 weeks for nine months of the year, stretch it to once a month during winter if I have closed shoes for special events. We're almost a year round sandal city, so it can vary.
Prices vary from $25-35 for basic, and go up for advanced treatments, massages, soaks. I always tip at least 20%, usually more. I don't keep an established appointment, and frequent three different places depending on which friend I'm with or if I'm alone. I have a preferred stylist at each that knows my preferences and where my foot is sensitive due to a surgery.

I didn't get my first pedi til my mid 40s either. Now I get them every eight weeks in the winter and every three to four weeks in the summer. I win the award for the cheapest pedis - 18 bucks including the massage chair, a calf massage, hot towel and stones. Yes. Really. I usually tip $5. Callous remover is $5 extra. But no wine. I don't drink either, though, so not a biggie. Lisa

Most of you are paying more than what I pay my ferrier per horse, for a trim. LOL
On a side note to that... you have never seen anything, until you see a dog's love for the ferrier. Something about those trimmings from the horses hooves. It is like crack for the dog....

I've never seen a nail salon with free wine! I get a pedicure every three weeks or so during sandal weather, which is 8-9 months of the year here. Lately I've also been getting shellac manicures, but probably won't keep that up through the summer. It's been really hard on my nails. What? You're in Texas. I'm shocked. Every salons offers free wine and some have margaritas here. (I actually don't drink but believe me, I'm in the minority because almost everyone is sporting their glass of wine during a mani or pedi). Must be a Dallas thing.

I would love a place that serves a good mixed drink! I'm not a fan of wine, and don't drink tequila, so margarita's aren't appealing. It cost $50 for the exfoliating pedicure (I think that's the name of the one I picked.) and a hot stone calf/foot massage. I gave her a $10 tip. I won't go back to that place, but that's mostly because my friend was only in town overnight and I booked a hotel near the airport. We had all afternoon to kill, so we went to a shopping area that's out near DIA, which is on the opposite side of Denver than I live, so it would take me almost an hour to get to normally. When I decide to go again, I'll find a place down here.

Well now I just feel cheated! I want a margarita when I get my pedi! And I love live music! The ones here close at either 7 or 9 and the "spa" pedi is $35 for exfoliation and a massage and lasts an hour. I tip at least $10 because I have horrible feet...dry and lots of calluses and a weird big toenail from where I dropped something heavy on it years ago and it cracked the nail and I had to have it removed and it took years to grow back and is a funky uneven texture now. Plus I feel guilty about all the exploitation that goes on the industry and how little the workers are actually making.

Once a month I go for a pedicure and acrylic nails. It costs me $85 plus tip. I've been going to the same salon for 7 years and I have never gotten a fungus or anything else. I love my salon!

I have two friends who got toenail fungus from pedicures. Scares me to death. I've never had one, but would very much like to!

Hardly never. I have tiny feet. But for my 40th my sisters wanted to to do that when were all together that summer I actually enjoyed it too. I think. But I haven't gone again. I don't know why. My sister did the tip etc.. so I don't know what it was or even what to do. So no help there. I would probably do it again. I just have such tiny feet.

I usually go at the beginning of the summer to start the summer off with nicely shaped nails. I do one polish change myself and go for a second pedi sometime mid-late summer. That's usually about it unless I go with friends as a social activity. Most places around me charge $25 and I tip $5. I enjoy them but have so many nail polishes at home it's hard to justify going more often.

I only treat myself a handful of times a year, max. They cost $95 for about 85 minutes and I tip 20% + Holy crap! My sister and I had pedicures at a luxe spa at Disney World last year, with services that included everything from appetizers to hot tea to a hot stone massage, and they didn't cost that much!!!!

I've had one once and that was only because I got a gift certificate.
However, as the mother of a newly graduated cosmetologist, I thank you all for supporting the industry!!!

Mine does, but I think it's something of the 2 buck Chuck variety. The last time I went this girl next to me asked what kind it was. The lady doing her nails says, "i don't know. It's white. That's all you need to know." LOL! I stick with the diet coke.

I know! It's a nice spa, very relaxing. But when I started going they were $75 and I got addicted. I've tried many others with friends and family but it's just not the same, some even have TVs. So I go less often, because part of the experience for me is the serene atmosphere.
