Light olive skin, oily t-zone I have very few "wrinkles" but have red nose/ chin from rosacea, and slightly tanner spots on my cheeks which I guess is some sun damage, I live in the gulf south... I don't try to tan, I hate the heat, but you can't except the sun, even in the car. I now use a sunscreen moisturizer and SPF makeup. Now I'd like to try to lighten the slight spots. I used to have such an even peachy completion. Any over the counter creams that will help? I bought Olay Regenerist Luminous Tone perfecting cream today . I'll give it a try... Getting old sucks! ;-) I have my first appointment at the dermatologist in May. I have several places that are not colored, just scabby that I want looked at. Any suggestions on what to ask for?

I have sensitive, dry skin and for years have searched for good skin care that didn't cost an arm and a leg but really delivered good results. I tried the Olay products and got nothing out of them and I tried Philosophy products around 2008. While Philosophy worked well (I used 3 of their products) I felt it wasn't good enough for the cost. So I went back to drugstore products. Finally this year I bit the bullet and bought some Dr. Hauschka products after I looked on their website so see what was right for my skin. I bought the cleanser they recommended and a moisturizer. For me that ended up being their Soothing Cleansing Milk for the cleanser and their Rose Day Cream for my moisturizer. My mother has been using this line for over 10 years and swears by it. Her skin is luminous and she is in her 70's. I'm 55. I found a site online that carries the line for 25% all of the time. So I started using it. Before I used it my face had red splotches and was uneven in tone. I had to wear foundation before I would leave the house. Now the redness is totally gone and my skin tone is so even I can leave the house without makeup. My skin feels amazing. I love these products! They smell incredible and are made from all natural ingredients a huge plus for me. No they are not as cheap as Olay, but they work extraordinaryly well and that for me is worth the price, especially if I can get them 25% off. The website to do that is www.pharmaca.com If you go to the Dr. Hauschka website you can key in what your skin is like and it will tell you what products are right for you. My Mom (and Dad!) use these products too. What they use is for normal skin and I can't use them-the toner stings my sensitive skin. My sweet Mom bought me huge sizes of the toner and her face wash a year ago to introduce me to these products. I had to return them to her because of my reaction to the toner. I was so glad to discover how wonderfully the right product (the soothing cleansing milk) works on my sensitive skin. Debbie in MD.

I had IPL (at the derms office) and it totally zapped the sun spots and redness. Definatly something to ask your dr about.

I believe topically applied vitamin C is supposed to help. Your dermatologist's office probably has a laser they can use to help.

I teach at a private school and several parents chipped in to get a very generous gift card for a spa. I had IPL done three weeks ago. It was my second time. While it's painful, it did fade and lighten my sunspots, but did nothing for redness. It's supposed to help with acne but I feel cystic acne forming on my cheek. I still have redness on my cheeks and a red spot on my nose. I was told to return in the Fall for a follow up. You do not want to go now when you will be outside more. It's best to wait for Fall. Also it does require 2-3 weeks for the full effects of the coffee stain sun spots to diappear. I agree dewryce, I was told to use vitamin C.
