How much do you pay for furnace filters? Mine are 16 x 25 x 1 and one filter cost me $8.79 today at Target. I will be checking the hardware store prices next. I know I used to buy a 12 pack at Menards for like $30.
I had a repair man out today because we were having some furnace issues and our filter was way overdue for changing. The last filter I bought was a 3M allergen filter that is supposed to last for 3 months. The repair man said buy the cheap ones and replace every month, those 3 month ones are a scam.

I'm not sure how much we pay but I do believe that the cheap ones do not filter out enough dirt and dust. I live in a high wind/dust area and can tell the difference between filters.

I buy Filtrete ones; they are about $18/piece. Both my son and husband have allergies and they notice a difference and will be sneezier in the house with the cheap ones.

$18-20. We use the filtrete filters and change then every 3-6 months. Makes a huge difference in our allergies

We do what your repair guy was suggesting -- we buy the cheap ones and DH replaces every month. I want to say DH gets a box of 12 at the hardware store for around $20. No allergy issues in our house, though.

I like the high efficiency ones but they are expensive. I bought some Purafilter Gold from Groupon for 4/$19.99 and have been really pleased.

I was advised to buy the cheaper filters also and just replace every month. Have not noticed a change since changing from the more expensive brands. But again, no one in our home has allergy issues.

We keep windows open when the weather is nice which is most of the year in So Cal. The filters get changed before the heat gets turned on and before the AC gets turned on. Both are typically used for about 2 months of the year. No allergies here so we go with the cheap ones. We have 3 different sizes which is a pain.

I have four cats. I buy the Filtrete Healthy Living allergen filters and replace them every 1-2 months. They are always dirty when I pull the old one out, so I probably could change them every month. I think they are $16-$18 per filter.
Breathing clean is important to me!

We use Filrete filters 20x30 and pay $15 - $20 depending on if we get the red or blue package (maybe it's purple?). We don't use our furnace all that often so we only change 2x's per year.

$12-$15 for the decent ones. If I can't find them since our size is weird, then I change them every month
