I love carrot cake and am indifferent at best to chocolate. I would have been very happy with a piece of carrot cake. That said, that does suck you didn't get something sweet that you liked.

Maybe she was the one that supplied the carrot cake and didn't want it to be the left over dessert at the end that nobody picked?

Maybe she was the one that supplied the carrot cake and didn't want it to be the left over dessert at the end that nobody picked? Ha ha, no. All of the desserts were donated to the event by local bakeries, and each one had a little tag saying where it came from. I had no idea there were so many bakeries around here!

maybe you telling the others not to get carrot cake was the equivalent of telling people not to think of an elephant...and then that's all you can think about

I don't know if I can say carrot cake is my very favorite, but it's up there. However, having a child who absolutely hates chocolate, I can understand your disappointment. The more I think about it the less I like this game. It's difficult to ensure everyone at the table will want the same thing. I can think of a bunch of desserts I wouldn't be thrilled with. That. I don't like chocolate, so I'm the last person most people would want at their table when it is time to choose dessert.

I am a total chocoholic but have been craving carrot cake since Thanksgiving. I just this week posted on a local facebook page asking where to get the best and I stopped by Saturday to pick up a piece. Sorry you don't like it to bad you didn't think to trade the night of the event.

I don't like cake in general, but if pressed to choose a flavor I want white cake. I won't touch a carrot cake and really appriciate most people put little frosting carrots on top as a warning. I would have been disappointed as well.
My parents wedding cake was carrot cake. I've alway thought that an odd choice since it seems such a divisive flavor, and we seldom had it growing up, so I don't think it was a favorite flavor.

I actually like carrot cake. However it's not really worth 10$ a piece. And well, with all the carrots it's not really dessert isn't it like a vegetable casserole? You were gypped

Hahahaha - I bought my neighbor/renters a small mixer for Christmas because I knew she did not have one and liked to bake. Now almost once a month they bring me about 1/3 of a cake. I am sitting here eating a piece of the one they brought over this morning. You guessed it -Carrot Cake Good Stuff Maynard!!! Sorry you were disappointed. Sounds like the couple that picked it were not at the table yet when you said NO carrot cake. I would have been bummed too because as much as I like it there is no way it wins over CHOCOLATE for me.

I like carrot cake as long as there are no raisins in it. Carrots, lots of nuts covered in cream cheese, yum. White cake is my favorite though. As much as I like chocolate candy, I do not like chocolate cake or chocolate ice cream. Oh my, a nice, rich, coconut, white cake is to die for !

It was incredibly noisy in there at that point, so who knows, maybe she thought my friend said "GET the carrot cake" instead of "DON'T get the carrot cake" LOL.

It just so happened that there were a bunch of really good looking chocolate desserts and the one thing that looked like it *might* be white cake of some kind was slanted sideways, reminiscent of Sidewalk Cupcakes (which I still would have chosen over the carrot cake, but not over any of the chocolate stuff available).

Your poll reflects your dislike of carrot cake, it's not my favorite so I didn't chose that option but the next option makes it sound like I'll eat it but be "meh" about it. No, I love carrot cake!!! But I do love chocolate cake with white buttercream slightly more. Although I almost never get carrot cake so I'd chose something like that at a function and be excited about it. We played this game at our all staff agency meeting. One dasher from each table grabbed the dessert. My dasher grabbed a chocolate cake that I didn't eat because it looked fancy but I don't care for chocolate on top of chocolate on top of chocolate or anything dark chocolate. Our event encouraged sharing and tables were farming around choices to each other. I ended up with an eclair and a piece of apple pie and was very happy.

I picked none of the above, because I really do like carrot cake, but (1) not all carrot cakes are created equal, so some rank higher than other desserts but some I won't touch, and (2) some days what you really want is chocolate cake, no matter how much you love carrot cake. So I couldn't say carrot cake is my FAVORITE, but it's way at the top (Denny's, btw, has my favorite).

I hit the wrong button on the poll. Meant to hit "I hate it" and ended up with, "Is this really the only dessert choice?"
Carrot cake is awful. The only kind I can stand is the one my friend makes, because it's very plain. No raisins, no nuts... or at least really, really, finely ground ones.

Note to self: don't ever bring carrot cake for dessert. Who knew there were so many haters? On the contrary, who knew there were so many carrot cake lovers? Personally, I'm glad for that because that means there will always be someone that I can pawn my future carrot cake onto and trade for something I'll actually like!

One of my favourite but it has to be my Grandma's recipe with cream cheese icing. My daughter (age 12) was making it for the first time and had it all mixed in the bowl, shredded carrots, canned pineapple, coconut, light brown is the cake mix batter and she says ewwww it looks like vomit!! So now we refer to it as the vomit cake. Even though we all love it.

carrot cake is not dessert, and I would have been pissed too. I would have pegged you as a carrot cake lover likescarrots ETA: I hate raw and cooked carrots! I literally gag! I have tried and tried to reintroduce them and gave up. BUT I can handle them okay if they are mixed into things. I rarely notice them in carrot cake. Chocolate is my favorite, but at a dinner like that I'd choose carrot because no one in my family likes it and it is a PITA to make and I LOVE cream cheese frosting. I also like raisins and nuts. hahaha! I didn't even think about it but I actually do love carrots! Just not in my cake!!!

We were at a $50 a plate fundraiser on the weekend, and the only dessert they SERVED was carrot cake! And not even good carrot cake: it was dry. And no cream cheese icing: it was some kind of sugar icing with green coconut on it. Made me think it was left over from Easter, maybe?
I like carrot cake, (just not that one) but I have to admit when we go out to dinner I look forward to the chocolate &/or cheesecake concoctions. And whipped cream...
Too bad you didn't think to switch with someone at another table that night. Bet you would have found a taker!

I love carrot cake, but I don't know if it is my fave. I would probably have a hard time choosing between the carrot cake, a chocolate mousse type cake, or a cheesecake (is that really a cake?).

carrot cake is my absolute favourite, especially my mom's that she makes me every year for my birthday (which means I have one coming my way soon!) - nuts & pineapple, no raisins, lots of extra cream cheese icing
what did the others at the table say when you were the only one not having any?

Note to self: Go to Publix tomorrow and buy a carrot cake! or two. I LOVE carrot cake and cream cheese frosting and you peas are making me crave one! I think Publix's carrot cake is the bee's knees. I love to bake, but my carrot cake attempts are no where near the goodness that Publix turns out. I absolute hate it when someone tries to sneak in raisins in my carrot cake (or anything else for that matter.) Raisins are like little hate bombs of ickiness that are designed only to steal my joy. Over all I prefer chocolate...as much as possible please. Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting with chocolate doo-dads on top? Oh yes please. Make that dark chocolate and I will swoon at your feet in complete supplication.
