After reading much of the 'carrot cake' thread and other threads over the years where people express their love for dessert-type foods and sweets, I always come away wondering what must be wrong with me. I detest sweet stuff, lol. A dark chocolate Hershey's Kiss every once in a while is pretty much the sum of my 'sweets' consumption. I don't even care for most fruits because of the sweetness factor. Put a piece of cake and a biscuit in front of me, I'm going to choose the biscuit every time. So, yeah. I'm a weirdo, yes? Or is there anyone else out there who doesn't have a sweet tooth? L ETA: Nothing wrong with having a sweet tooth! DH has a huge one. I'm just positive I'm in a major minority in NOT having one.

I think you are in the minority. I don't have a huge sweet tooth and usually a couple bites of something sweet satisfies my craving. (Not always). I wish I didn't eat them at all though like you.

I would pick a biscuit over cake too. If I have sweets I prefer unfrosted cake.

I never have dessert at home, and very rarely order it if we go out to eat. I don't care for most sweets but I do like gummi bears and other candy once in a while. I'd much rather have chips and dip or buttered popcorn to snack on if I'm eating junk food.

I don't care for cake. I don't like fudge. Pies are iffy.
I can bake but we are not big sweets eaters so I don't bake a lot of cookies or brownies.
Brownies are really the only sweet I cannot turn down. The rest I can resist.
I do not keep chocolate in the house on a regular basis. We still have a bag of Reese's peanut butter cups from Easter on a shelf.
Chips don't last long though.

I think there are probably lots of people like you -- well, maybe not people that don't care for sweets AT ALL, but certainly there are lots of people that prefer salty things over sweet. My mom was one -- she could turn down any sweet but man, put a bag of peanuts in front of her and she'd eat the whole thing!

I'm not a huge fan of bakery type sweets. Most of that kind of thing I can take or leave. But I do have a huge sweet tooth for candy. Pretty much any kind of candy.

I'm picky about sweets. I won't waste the calories on packaged sweets of any kind - candy, candy bars, little debbie type things, packaged cookies and the like. They have zero appeal to me. I make desserts and cookies at home. Or I will occasionally eat a special dessert at a restaurant. Basically, a "sweet" item has to have real appeal to me or I'm not interested.

I like sweets just fine but they're not my first choice. I would choose something savory over something sweet 99% of the time.

I love some sweets. BUT, I would take a salty potato chip over sweets any day of the week! So I totally see what you are saying.

I do have a sweet tooth, but not as much as people think. The sweets that I am drawn to are not as sweet as they could be. For example, I don't like jelly-too sweet. I don't like regular cokes-too sweet.
When it comes to chocolate, I much prefer dark chocolate. On the whole most desserts that have dark chocolate aren't as sweet. When I make brownies, I always use dark chocolate. Cakes? Dark. Frosting? Dark.
I like the salty stuff okay, but I am not one who will sit and eat chips for the sake of eating chips. I rarely buy them, and for the most part view chips and the like as a vehicle only for scooping dips.

I was all about eating sweet things before my gastric bypass in 2006 ... Now, everything makes me feel like death so I avoid all dessert and candy ... It was hard at first but now it's no big deal ... I just drink another glass of wine instead

I wish I didn't like sweets. If I didn't have a sweet tooth I'd never have to count calories.

I'm another person who prefers savory and salty over sweet, although I don't detest sweet things. Similar to Spongemom Scrappants, I'm picky about my sweets and never waste calories on junky bakery stuff or candy. I've never been a cake fan and I rarely eat it at parties, weddings, etc. I do enjoy homemade cookies and pie. I'm not even an ice-cream fan.

While I like sweets, I can leave them. They always leave a really bad taste in my mouth so I prefer salty over sweet.
