Is it flat or does it have sides?
The flat one we got for making pancakes. I can't think of what else we've used it for. LOL bacon and eggs I guess.
The one with sides and a lid I've used for pot roast. I got it from my neighbor's yard sale for camping and we used it for breakfast but not much else.

you can use it for pretty much anything you would cook on the stovetop or maybe in a Dutch oven. I don't have a Dutch oven so don't quote me on it.

We have one, not sure why we never use it.
You can use it just as you would a skillet. Fry bacon, steak fingers, make gravy, etc.

I often use it to fry fish, making ground beef stroganoff, sloppy Joe's, chicken piccata, fried eggplant and anything that requires a bigger skillet.

I had one in the '70's and used it just as I would a skillet on the stove. It was Harvest Gold. Hahahaha

My MIL had one that she used just about every night. She used hers to fry chicken, make gravy, fry potatoes, and cook roasts. She made breakfast with it, from the eggs to ham or bacon and sliced potatoes, or pancakes. I think she even used it to make a pineapple upside down cake.
I have alway wanted one for some reason. I know it is very nice during a hot summer since it can keep you from having to turn the oven on. Have fun!

Is it bad that the first electric skillet "recipe" that I pinned on pinterest was for donuts.? Lol

I don't have one, but that brings back fond memories of my grandmother who would make fried chicken in hers everytime she watched us as kids.

I don't have one, but that brings back fond memories of my grandmother who would make fried chicken in hers everytime she watched us as kids. It's funny that this thread showed up tonight. I just had fried chicken 'nuggets' for dinner tonight and while I was frying the chicken I had a fleeting wish that I had an electric skillet to keep a more consistent temperature. I remember pretty much everyone I knew fried chicken in an electric skillet when I was growing up.

I have one that only comes out in December for making latkes.
I originally bought it because I would go into my boys' school and doing cooking once per week with the autism class. It was a contained safe way to cook in a classroom.

I have a larger one that I can make 6 grilled cheeses, 6 hamburgers, 6 French toast, etc. in it. I use it when making a larger batch of something at the same time.

We use the electric skillet for french toast, pancakes, grilled cheese sandwiches and it makes an awesome breaded chicken or pork cutlet (heat up some olive oil and then cook them in that)

I use my electric skillet to cook fish on my patio so my house doesn't smell like fish for days.

I had one in the '70's and used it just as I would a skillet on the stove. It was Harvest Gold. Hahahaha My first one was a wedding present and it was Avacado Green. LOL. When it died I replaced it with a chrome Faberware one that I still have. (Although I did manage to some how melt the original electric cord and had to buy a replacement off of eBay. Ha) i have a grand total of *one* dish that I use it for. I'm not sure why I don't use it more.

Primarily pancakes. My kids won't eat Sloppy Joes or I'd cook that in there.
Growing up we used ours for Sloppy Joes, cubed steak, hot dogs, sausages, bacon. Anything that had to simmer for a long time because it seemed liked you didn't have to stir stuff as often as you did on the stove top.

Growing up my mom used her avocado green electric skillet for a lot of different things. Breakfast, pot roast, frying fish and wonton, spaghetti sauce, fried chicken, etc.
I had it for a while after she passed, but never used it because it was too large for just me and DS.

I use it for all sorts of things. Anything you make on the stove can be made in there, just bigger! I like to do grilled cheeses. Large amounts of scrambles eggs, French toast, pancakes. I make fried chicken in there. Also another chicken dish - we call it rosemary chicken. Re-heating leftover pizza. Fried potatoes.
All sorts of stuff!
And now I am hungry.

Mine is the regular rectangular flat skillet. I used it for pancakes and French toast; although, last week for the first time I made parathas and used the skillet, they turned out amazing.

I use my electric skillet all the time. I use it to fry chicken, potatoes, pancakes and pretty much anything I would use a skillet for but generally in bigger quantities. I love my electric skillet.
