Wow! Looks like that system works really well for stencils. I never did get on the CIU train, because I never seem to get the stickers & embellies back into their packaging once I have used them, but with the stencils you don't need the packaging. Hmmm...
I like that you labeled them all too. I can never remember the manufacturer.

Wow! Looks like a great system. I only have a few stencils but have trouble using them. Is there a video or blog post that shows how to incorporate a stencil into a layout?

And as far as a video or blog for using stencils on a layout, I would recommend the Blue Fern Studios blog. I know when I designed for them, a lot of us used stencils on our layouts. I still do. There are lots of ways to use them. Even just search Pinterest or YouTube. Blue Fern Studios also has a YouTube channel.

I like that; thanks for sharing!! I have all sizes of stencils and have them stored in a 12x12 Iris case, but the fact that they're all stacked together means sometimes they get tangled up as well as it's a bit difficult to look at them. I may look at doing something similar to hang them, maybe using the hanging rod in the closet?? not sure...
(or can a wire lampshade make a decent substitute for a Clip it Up??)

Oh your case sounds like my box--everything got tangled. It was such a pain to find things, put them away, etc. I avoid 12x12 stencils. I have a few but I never, ever liked the size. I can use small stencils on anything, any size. Anyway, yes, a wire lampshade works for a Clip it Up. And someone messaged me as said there is a Clip it Up (Hobby Lobby brand) available. I know it's on sale for $17 this week.

Yes, I know people that put them in binder but for me that was too much. Too hard to pull out/put away, and if they were still damp after washing, they would have to sit out. On my CIU, the can hang and finish drying. I am all about ease and being quick. Plus for me the CIU is easier to store and use quickly on my art table than finding a place for a binder.

I LOVE THIS! I am currently storing mine in their original packaging. I put a hole in the top corner of the packaging and slip them on a large binder ring. But my stencil collection is a little "out of hand" and this system would be perfect! Oh I wish I had a Hobby Lobby nearby!

This seems perfect for you with using stencils for mixed media. Great idea and nicely done! Your creative space is a dream!

I just pull mine out for a scrappy project once in a while.

fyi, the Clip it Up thing from Hobby Lobby only has a 10 inch diameter ring, so I decided against it for storing 12x12 stencils-- I wouldn't have been able to clip them in the center and I know that would have irritated the heck out of me. I looked at it three separate times, took it out of the box, and finally read the measurements before deciding against it. I'll keep looking for something else I can do with my stencils... until then, the 12x12 Iris box they're in will have to do.
I need to SEE my supplies or else I won't use them; that's why a binder or some other system like that doesn't really work for me. 12x12 Iris boxes work for my embellishments because I tend to 'dig thru' my stuff when I'm choosing my supplies, but 'digging' doesn't work so good for stencils, lol!

I love mine. I have two double CIU's. On one of my mini's I have Close to my heart stamps plus misc stamp sets. I also have embossing folders clipped to it. I have them stashed in my closet.

I use stencils on every single layout. I use a binder .... tried the clip it up a few years ago and they got hooked up with each other....drove me nuts Mine used to do that on the regular CIU when they were too close together. Now on the mini since they are the only thing on there, it seems to work great. They used to get hooked together in my box, and that drove me nuts. I am not having that issue now. Whew!
