Does anyone have the Scan and Cut and if you do, how do you like it?
I really keep thinking about it and different ways I think I can use it.
Please give me your opinions!!
TIA

I have one- I really like that it will cut stamped images- and I do not need to buy dies to coordinate with the stamps. I like that I can choose to have it cut the exact shape of the image or add a while border. I have not used it a lot yet- but I do like it! There is a large thread on splitcoast stampers about the scan and cut. There are lots of things that can be done with it-I just have not had a lot of time to play with it.

Thank you digirlwiz. I think I really want one -- Well, let's be honest here -- I really, really want one. However, I have a Cricut Expression so I feel wasteful buying another cutting machine. But I think the Scan and Cut would do a lot more different things and I could still use my Cricut too ( I have about a dozen cartridges).
Think I will check out the thread on Splitcoast Stampers you mentioned.
Again, thank you for your input.

tomocus if you're interested mostly in papercrafts (rather than fabric) you should also look at the Silhouette Cameo which gives you the ability to both print and cut and also to cut stamped images using the Pixscan mat. I just recently got a Cameo after years with a Cricut and Sure Cuts a Lot software and am just blown away by all the machine can do

I don't have one, but I've seen it in action on Scrapbook Soup on PBS. Julie Fei-Fan Balzer does some really cool things with it. I have a Silhouette, but have never tried the print and cut. anniefb, I'm glad you're having fun and learning lots about your new Cameo!

I am kind of leaning to a ScanCut too because I do a lot of scanning. If the PixScan is just as accurate I rather have that since I already have the Cameo. tomocus- I have been watching and reading a lot about the ScanCut. I don't have one but I do have extensive die cutting knowledge. What I can see it's a decent cutter for paper crafters that are beginners. Once you get more advanced then you might find it limiting. I heard the ScanCut does have issues with intricate files. It can not read all the details to make a pattern for cutting. I don't know if this has changed with a firmware update. They are aware of the issues. That is an issue for those who make a lot of doilies or designs similar to that. I fall in that category. Also the blade housing is unique so blades are proprietary and expensive. Most of us with die cutters do always keep 3-4 blades at a time on hand. There is another $30-$50 on blades. I am still looking for a blade alternative though. I have a Cricut too. I have the Expressions and the Explore. Don't feel wasteful thinking about another cutter purchase. It means your advancing in your die cutting abilities. That is a great thing. I use my Cricut for certain things and I use my Cameo for others.

anniefb- Have you tried PixScan yet? I am so curious about it. Yes I have @amayalylac . I just tried it out at the weekend and it is amazing! Here are a couple of my trial cuts with stamps I own. I just love the idea of stamping and then cutting so accurately - no more having to buy dies and trying to line things up. Here are some stamped images on the Pixscan mat. You just take a photo of the whole mat with your phone (and many phones don't need calibrating first), then import the image to Silhouette Studio using the Pixscan menu. Then you trace and cut as usual. The mat has registration marks on it. And here are some finished die cuts: Butterflies And jars I think I'll be using Pixscan a lot!

You made my whole day. I really love your examples. That is exactly what I was looking for. I rather buy a mat than another die cutter. I am amazed at the details. I am so surprised the Silhouette software could pick up the butterflies antenna's. You know how fussy antennas can be on items that need to be cut. I cut out a lot of butterflies. I am thrilled. Thank you again.
