our host at the scrapping nook often started a good news Tuesday thread. So I thought I would throw it out here. This is your opportunity to brag a little, accept good fortune without apology. What do you feel really good about right now?
and how do you emote happiness on a card or LO? Is it color? Design? Certain elements?
i hope to get back to you on this Tuesday afternoon. Right now I need to put these tired old bones to bed...

I like this question because I need to work on being more positive. The good news is that what I thought was going to be a huge complicated picture organizing project is turning out to not be so bad. After scrapping my last batch of pictures, my next batch was going to involve collecting pictures from a phone, a dslr, a point and shoot, a new computer, and a slow ancient dinosaur computer. Between yesterday and today I collected them all AND chose the ones I want to edit. I have to edit them on the dinosaur computer but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Until then I'll be happy with my good news.
I won't get anything scrapbook related done today but I hope you all get to work on something fun. Have a great day!

how do you emote happiness on a card or LO? Is it color? Design? Certain elements? When I'm scrapping in a good mood, I'm very generous with the embellishments. I'm like Oprah, "And you get an enamel dot! And you get an enamel dot! You all get enamel dots!" And so my layout ends up with forty enamel dots in every nook and cranny, but it looks really good!

LavenderLayoutLady, I just snort-laughed! Thanks for that this morning!!!! Also, "lavender" is one of those words I spell wrong and I always have to go back and fix. I always want to put another "a" in the middle or end instead of the "e" I won 300 rewards points at Scrapbook Generation from one of their crop games Combined with what I already have, I'm pretty close to getting $10 off my next order. Makes me happy! $10 free dollars of scrap stuff!!!!

good news - I am almost done scrapping March 2016...I have one more Easter layout to do (photos are on my scrapping table now) and I have another layout that I'm waiting on a photo to arrive (print order should be here on Thursday).
non-Scrapbook related good news? My older daughter is being recognised at the school board meeting tonight - she's on the county Academic Team that went to States for the first time this year and WON! My son called me this weekend from Japan to wish me a Happy Mother's Day! Loved hearing his voice! My youngest was given a speaking part in the school play despite her IEP for speech - she's a little nervous but her teacher is confident she can handle it and the ST is going to work with her.

good news, dh is out of town for the weekend and I am hosting a crop...it is with my young adult Sunday School kids, we will see if they actually show...but if they don't ... I get the house to myself to scrapbook. win win.
happy layouts, since I scrapbook my grandkids (mostly) all my layouts are happy...but, I think it is like others have said, the bright, fun colors...and bling to sparkle.
Happy Birthday, myboysnme....my birthday is next week and I've always felt like May is MY month. Back in the day, dh and the kids would take me shopping. Now, ds has made it a tradition to take me to a movie, as dh will not go into a movie theater. (too many people, head lice, germs...same reason he won't eat at buffets)

I forgot to add the happy part. For me I think it's a combination of hearts and a softer tone of bright colors. A softer red, pink, yellow, and blue. Pink Paislee Hello Sunshine is a good example. mjmone, I think it was you that recommended Andersen's on the way to SoCal. We didn't plan on stopping; we just happened to take that exit for a pit stop and decided to go it. We didn't stop long enough for soup, but we did have pastries. They were so good we stopped on the way home, too!

day 10 layout #1 = 2-pg "Easter Dinner" - Dear Lizzy PP, cardstock, Doodlebug stickers, journalling and six photos - that finishes up March 2016 except for a 1-pg layout I'm still waiting on a photo for.
[now don't go thinking I'm close to caught up - I'm no where NEAR caught up]

Linda , it does sound like you're close to being caught up and I'm SO jealous! I thought I was getting close to a period of time in my scrapping when I didn't take a lot of pictures. I was so wrong. I just had them in different places. I've been two years behind for years! I'd love to be caught up. I'm one of those scrappers.

I just had them in different places. I've been two years behind for years! I'd love to be caught up. I'm one of those scrappers. I'm almost caught up on 2016...I have an order of 200-ish photos coming on Thursday that finish up 2016 through this past Friday (6th) including our road trip to Chicago in January (separate album - we were gone for 8 days - I've scrapped 3 so far, I think). 2015 - I need to update my excell file but I think I ran out of steam in late April/early May 2014 - I scrapped Jan/Feb/Mar and just ordered prints through mid-Oct (198 prints) 2013 - I only have a handful of layouts done 2012 - I've scrapped Jan, Feb, and most of Dec 2011 -is DONE!!!! 2010 -Jan- April, part of May, and all of Dec are done 2006-2009 - are partly done 2005 - is almost done 1991-2004, I think are DONE...I got my first digital camera in 2003 and the number of photos I took increased dramatically (my kids were born in 1991, 2000, and 2006) I'm seeing a theme - I'm pretty good at getting the beginning of the year scrapped and then I get busy or sidetracked or .... I file chronologically in albums but obviously don't scrap chronologically.

day 10 layout #2 1-pg "Fox" - Paper Studio back to basics stack, kraft cardstock, SVGCuts die-cut Fox (so cute!), 4 photos, and journalling.
We have outdoor cats that we feed on our deck and for the past couple of Springs, we've had a fox in the yard who comes up and eats cat food. I got some photos in April of the fox eating and one of our cats just sitting there paying him no mind.

Ok I see Linda. I'm a chronological scrapper and right now I'm scrapping June 2014. I might actually break away from that for a while to scrap our recent vacation. I've never done that before so I'm a little giddy about breaking my self imposed scrapping rules. LOL Cute story about the fox. My daughter is an animal lover and other people's pets are always drawn to her. One day I was wondering out loud why we have cats at our house more than they're at their own house. DH said, "maybe it's you giving them leftover salmon". So I guess I'm part of the "problem".

The PCP gave my daughter the cruise ship patches for her motion sickness to try because she gets violently ill even from the 45 minute drive to town. We tried one on Sunday. It work!!! It's not a long term solution but right now I'll take it with a happy, happy heart.
We also got the temporary bed set up in ds room and lots more chores accomplished then I thought we would yesterday! Woot woot!
Happy layouts tend to have vibrant colors.

My son graduates Pre-K Friday!! I'm kind of heartbroken because many of the kids' families seem to know each other and the chances of us seeing any of these people again after the day after graduation (birthday party) are slim to none. But, I'm also proud of how much he loves going to school because I was CERTAIN that at the start of the year with his behavior (he is baaaadddddd!!!!) that he was going to be kicked out. My Mom gets here Thursday so I get some help AND some time with my husband. My Mom and MIL visiting are the ONLY times I can reliably get help with my kids and spend time with my husband that isn't 10 minutes before bed (where he usually ends up falling asleep while I'm trying to have a conversation with him). One of my son's soccer games was rained out a couple of weekends ago and I thought it was just cancelled (they are 4-6, not that essential to reschedule at that age) and we got word over the weekend it was rescheduled for Thursday evening...so instead of narrowly missing the chance to see him play, my Mom will get to see a game less than 2 hours after she lands. Ikea opens here next Wednesday. I begged my Mom to change her travel dates so she would be here opening day (no lie!!) and my husband took the day off (requested it almost as soon as we knew the date). We're going to make a day of it. I know it's going to be crazy and I can't handle crazy for very long (anxiety issues), so even if we're only in there for 10-20 minutes just to snap a few pics (because it didn't happen otherwise, lol) and be able to say we were there opening day, I'm happy. I would like to buy at least one thing to have a receipt, so I have a feeling it might be something in the cafe or a cinnamon roll at the littler cafe thing by check out. After, we are planning to do lunch and go see Captain America: Civil War!! I think I emote happiness in my journaling. I work with colors that go with what I'm working on, so it's not by color although certain colors do bring me happiness, so I guess it's less of using colors to express happiness than it is being able to use certain colors impacting my mood.

@lisaadv - so glad that the patches work - motion sickness makes for not-fun vacations. scrapaddict702 - congratulations to your son. Is Pre-K not part of the elementary school? My youngest didn't do Pre-K or daycare so we were behind the curve meeting families when she started K and never really have caught up I think an Ikea is opening about 90min. from us next year. I've never been to one. day 10 layout #3 - 1pg "My Cats" - Flair Design PP, cardstock, stickers, zigwriter (hand-journalled), 2 photos

My youngest didn't do Pre-K or daycare so we were behind the curve meeting families when she started K and never really have caught up I think an Ikea is opening about 90min. from us next year. I've never been to one. day 10 layout #3 - 1pg "My Cats" - Flair Design PP, cardstock, stickers, zigwriter (hand-journalled), 2 photos It is not and we cannot afford Pre-K rates. We'd be looking at the cost of full time day care for part time Pre-K here. I don't work because I'd be working and still spending on top of my income for childcare, so no way could we afford Pre-K. One of our community centers about 20-25 minutes from here has a program. It's the only one in the entire county that does it and we learned after he started that the person running the program now and many of the teachers have been doing this for about 20 years (the one running it now used to be a teacher). Many of the grandparents that drop off and pick up kids also took their kids to the same program with the same teachers. Another thing about it because it's not a traditional Pre-K is that you have to have authorized pick up people for your kids. You have to show your DL or ID at pick up or they will not release the child. They are signed into and out of class EVERY day. A new form has to be filled out any time you want to add or remove authorized pick up people for your child. For an entire year, the tuition is around $1,000 (out of city rates are higher and we are out of city, they just changed it this year, so we actually pay 15% more than the base rate...still a bargain but we didn't find out until after we were accepted into the program). It's three days a week, MWF, 2 hours 15 minutes each day. We'd pay that for about 2 months going one day a week for 4 hours most places around here. We weren't sure with the cost being so low what to expect, but my son LOVES it. It's enough to give him the exposure to a classroom setting and to socialize with other kids his age which is all that we wanted him to get before going into Kindy (I was honestly terrified that he'd have serious issues with behavior in school, but he is so much more well behaved there, they do a great job with the kids and I'm so thankful for this program, without it we wouldn't have been able to afford Pre-K at all). They even have 3 teachers to a class (21 max per class, so a 7:1 ratio, which is really nice). The program only has about 80ish spots (2 classes in the AM and 2 in the PM) so you have to register right away and we were nervous about getting in, but the PM class isn't as popular and his class isn't even full (only about 16 kids). He reinforces a lot of things we already worked on at home the summer before he started with shapes, colors, numbers, letters, writing out numbers, letters and his name, etc. They play outside everyday (or in the gym if weather doesn't permit) and he cries nonstop if we keep him from school because he's sick...he loves going THAT much. They have another one 2 days a week for younger kids and I'd consider enrolling my 3 year old next year for it because my 5 year old enjoyed it so much, but they have to be toilet trained and he absolutely REFUSES to learn.

scrapaddict702 - sounds like a wonderful program! My state has voluntary Pre-K but it's based at daycare centres in my area - it's free but transportation isn't provided and there wasn't one close enough to us (I don't drive) so my youngest didn't go. My oldest went to Pre-K (in another state) and it was run by the schools (although I was working then and his was based out of his daycare - most were at schools) and it was a great program for him and he loved it. Good luck with the toilet training for the 3 y/o - only my oldest was trained that young...my middle child was, fortunately, homeschooled until 3rd grade since she was a very late (very stubborn) trainer and was still not day-trained reliably for K and 1st, sigh.

Dgs woke up for the day before 5:15am. The good news is that even though he sometimes gets really cranky or really hyper when he is tired, he and I got along fine this morning and he made it to lunch with Daddy before I put him down for his nap. He crawled in quite willingly and is--I think--asleep now, so I get some down time.
Glad to hear all your good news and descriptions of happy pages.
My happy layouts have lots of color and lots of movement: swirls and arrows and paints and bling...

My good news is that I won a prize in the Scrap Gals iNSD Facebook crop. Also I have a week of holidays starting next Wednesday. Here is my layout of the day. It was supposed to be about something that makes us cry, but I didn't want to do that, so I did a companion page to my niece's superhero page.
