I'd like a single, larger sink to bathe my dogs in.

I would never live without a double ... one to wash in and one to rinse in ... not that I handwash many dishes but when I do it's handy My dog weighs almost 100 lbs so she wouldn't be in any kitchen sink

I'm not picky - single or double. I would like a DEEPer sink though - I covet the old farmhouse sinks or belfast sinks
[now a laundry tub in the utility room would also be nice - and a better place for washing dogs than the kitchen, i would think - although I'm a cat person so have no experience in the matter]

I like a double sink for wash and rinse, but also for having dirty dishes on one side when I need sink space.

I had a double. Switched to single. Prefer the single. All the big things fit.

I have a double sink now and wish I had a single. My double has one side that's fairly large, but there are still some larger items like my griddle that won't fit.

I have double because we often hand wash dishes. It's also what I grew up with and has been in nearly every home I've ever lived in so I'm sure the fact that it's just what I know heavily influences what I choose to have.

Double sink so I have somewhere to collect my dirty dishes in one side until I get a chance to put them in the dishwasher but still have a clean sink to do other things (rinse fruit, etc.). Double sinks are easier for hand washing dishes too so there's one side to wash and one to rinse. I also prefer deeper sinks so the water doesn't splash out as much.
I don't think I could handle having a single sink, but it's nice having a big utility sink in the laundry room for washing oversized things like refrigerator shelves, our giant stock pot, that kind of thing.

Double. We do a lot of hand washing, so one side to clean and one side to rinse. Also, like having the dirty dishes on one side while keeping the other side open for other uses.

Double sink - I don't have a dishwasher so I wash on one side, rinse on the other side

We just finished a gut job of our kitchen. I chose a large, deep double sink. It just works better for us than a single or farmhouse sink. I like to be able to have pots and pans in one side and still be able to drain the pasta in the other.

My mom loves her single. It's pretty deep- and yes, that's where she bathes the 7 lb dog.

I have a big dog, too. She gets bathed in the shower -- no way could I lift her into a sink.
I have a big, deep single sink. I love it. Everything fits into it. I tend to clean up as I go, so there usually aren't piles of dishes and pots sitting in there for more than a few minutes.

I have only had double so I can't tell ya...
on the dog thing.. our little four pound dog gets washed in the sink..I can't imagine trying to fill a huge tub up with water for him. I clean the sink and area.. no germs..

we have a single and I HATE it. I have to use a dishpan so that I don't dilute my soapy water when I was dishes. I don't use my dishwasher all the time and when I do, can't put everything in it, anyway. I have less space due to having to use that darn dishpan.

Double!!!!
I have a single, and I hate it, too. It's not that big, so my big pans still don't lie flat.
My mom has a double, and I covet it every time I go visit her! I have the same reasons as everyone above: one place for dirty stuff while still having a place for filling pasta pots, washing veggies, etc. - and one side for soap and one side to rinse when doing the dishes.
Can't speak about the dog issue. We had a utility tub when I was growing up, so that's where the dogs got washed. If I had a dog now, I'd take it out to be washed!

The first thing I did when we moved in this house was rip out the double and replace it with a deep single. I hated that double, couldn't wash my large cookie sheets or roaster pan in it. Love my single, it's 29" wide and 9" deep.

Only a deep, single basin here! It's the first thing we change in a home when we move in!

A big single sink. We had one in our house when I was little. I have a double sink now, stainless, and I hate it with a fiery passion. I can't stand to see water spots on it. so I have to dry it every time I use it, which seems silly to anyone visiting and I take a lot of flak for it.
I bathe my 10-pound pup in my shower, so I wouldn't be using the single sink in the kitchen for him. I have a hand nozzle thing on the side of the normal shower spigot. I put the pup up on the bench in the shower stall and use the hand nozzle to wash him there. It would probably be easier on my back to do it in a big sink, so if I ever get one, I may change my view on it.

My last two houses have had a farmhouse sink and now I couldn't be without it. Love washing larger items so easily. And love now my dinner party dishes, pots, pans, and serving pieces all fit in the sink when I have friends for dinner and my kitchen looks clear and clean.

I like one large sink. Double sinks don't fit big frying pans. I want to wash the pan sitting flat in the sink.
