I like my double sink. One side is larger and one smaller. I just wish that the garbage disposal was connected to the larger side rather than the smaller. I would use the small side for a soaking sink.

When we remodeled the kitchen 20+ years ago (yikes, time to do it again) we splurged on our sink and put in a double sink that has one very large, extra-deep side and one slightly smaller, not-as-deep side. I love it and would happily choose the same sink again.

We have a double but the wall in between is half height. I can wash big things like full sized cookie sheets and still have two tubs. Best of both worlds!

Big single. I'll never have a double sink again.

I had a double sink in my childhood home; and now I have a single sink. I much prefer the double sink.

I switched from a deep double to a 36" deep single and will never go back! Fits all my big stuff, and plenty of room for dirty dishes at one end with enough room to use the other end.

I had a double. Switched to single. Prefer the single. All the big things fit.

I'd like a big, single sink. I currently have a double and there just isn't enough room to soak some of the bigger things like cookie sheets and roasting pans. Plus, every time I try washing something big I end up soaking wet. My counter is high so I'm sure that contributes to it.

I like having my little sink w/the garbage disposal and food and my bigger sink for rinsing/soaking dishes and pans. So, I'm a double sinker.

I just got a big single sink. I LOVE IT! I had to fight my husband for it, as he prefers double. All I had to say was he can have the double if he starts to wash the dishes. I got my black sink. It is my favorite part of my kitchen!!!!!

I've only had doubles, and really like having the separate spaces. It's nice to be able to rinse dishes as I'm cooking, and then keep them on one side ready to load in the dishwasher while still having space to rinse produce and use the garbage disposal. I also like one side for washing and one side for rinsing if the dishwasher is out of commission or something.
My ideal set up would be a huge, deep double sink with lots of room on both sides. Do those even exist?

My favorite sink is our current one - a deep, double with one side twice as big as the other.
ETA Why: let's me have one wash & one rinse sink for handwashing (I don't put pots & pans in the dishwasher) and I have lots of room to soak pans before washing and still have a working sink.

I prefer the double. The other side is the "staging area" for dishes that need to go in the dishwasher next.

Single for sure. When I remodeled my kitchen I wondered if I would regret it and I never have. I like a Deep, single sink. I like washing large pans and sheet trays without obstruction. And it looks cleaner and "prettier" to me. I will also wash my small dogs in the sink (oh the horrors! They are cleaner than raw chicken and other things happening in there - that's what bleach is all about.dd washed them in the laundry room sink fwiw).

I like having a double sink so I can work on one side and stack dishes in the other. But I wish I had a large, deep sink in my laundry room.

Double. But I wish it was deeper. We were hoping to upgrade when they redid out cabinets with the flood, but we didn't have enough left over. It was either a new sink or better counter tops. It was easier to do the counter tops and then we'd do the sink later. But we always use both sides. I would love a farm sink!

I guess you could technically call mine a double but one of them is very narrow and shallow. The other bowl is larger and deep.
The narrow bowl is where the garbage disposal is and to me...it's a PITA.
I'm not a fan and would love to just replace the sink with one large, deeper bowl.

Single plus garbage disposal which I never use. I''ve got a small kitchen so I wouldn't have room for another sink.
Our dogs always got washed in the bath or the laundry tub.

I like one large sink. I don't want to deal with 2 small sinks at all, and I'm not fond of losing counter space tot eh large sink/small sink combo, because I just don't have a use for that smaller sink. (Please bear in mind that one of my illogical quirks is that I really have a dislike for anything being in the sink. So using that second sink to hold clean or dirty dishes just is not something I want to do. )

I'd never have just a single. I wash dishes most days as it is just the 2 of us. Even if we had a bigger family, I'd need to handwash knives and some pots.

We have a double but the wall in between is half height. I can wash big things like full sized cookie sheets and still have two tubs. Best of both worlds! This is what we have and it's perfect for us. I did a lot of research before finding this one and it was worth every penny, especially since we don't have a dishwasher.

I like our very deep double sink.
I'm mean and wash the dogs in the backyard (or at the dog park) with a hose. At 50 lbs each, they don't go in the sink!

One of the first things we did, when we moved into this house, was replace the two bowl sink with a farmhouse sink. We had a single bowl stainless in our last house, and after 2 weeks here, I was losing my mind trying to go back to a tiny two bowl. I use a dish pan in it, if I need two areas for hand washing, and to stack dishes waiting to go into the dishwasher. It works out perfectly. I wash our little chug in the kitchen sink (he makes less mess than my teenagers do just washing their hands), and I bathed both my babies in the kitchen sink. Neither thing has ever seemed gross to me, but the chug has a serious under bite, and drools on my pillow every night, so.....

Oh god, the OP makes me nauseous.
You do not wash a dog where you wash dishes and prepare food. That is the most disgusting thing I have ever read on 2peas.
I'll add that to the long list of reasons I don't eat food prepared in other people's kitchens.
As others in this thread have said, you wash a dog outside.
So gross.

I'd prefer a double for the same reason others have mentioned - one sink to wash the dishes in and another (even if it is smaller) to rinse them in. The double sink that we have our eyes on for when we renovate our kitchen later this year is a double. It costs $1279! I think I might have to look for something a bit cheaper. My dog was always washed in our bath. When we were renovating the bathroom and had taken the bath out, he was washed in the laundry sink. I only had to do that once thank goodness, because it was very awkward.

I, too, like to have a wash sink and a rinse sink, plus I often use one side filled with water to thaw out meat. With a double, I still have a usable sink on one side. L
