So for Friday the 13th I thought I would ask What Scares YOU?
Are there techniques you haven't tried, products you have bought and not used, tools that sit on the counter or in the drawer because you are not sure what to do with them?
I love to see sewing on projects, and I do own a sewing machine--actually used to have a small one I bought just for crafting, but gave it away without using it! When I sew cloth--and it hasn't been for years, now--I always struggled with sewing a straight line, and I don't think I have the patience to guide a paper around and around to sew overlapping circles.
Straight lines in general scare me: I can never get them perfectly lined up. And that is a problem for a multi photo per page scrapper like myself. I try to compensate by using torn edges, tilted elements, some corners rounded...
I do a few clusters, but I am never comfortable putting them together. Never seem to be able to figure out how to balance all the elements.
My challenge for Friday the 13th is to try something that scares you! Now I will NOT be sewing on a LO or card. Might try a cluster of something...

Another thing that scares me is stamping. Even though I own about a million stamps and tons of ink. I never seem to be able to get a crisp image. But I did use stamping on these cards I made for my students. Grad card by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Stamping, although I have been trying it a bit lately. Also, I have never machine stitched on my pages. I'd love to get a little machine for just that. I don't want to haul out my big machine.

all the above. Well, not scared of sewing, just don't want to mess with setting it up.
very bad at straight lines, cannot hand cut one worth a darn.
embellie clusters, I LOVE them, but cannot seem to do them well
and stamping.
I 'fear' stamping direct on a project, as I don't get a super good image, consistently. But my Misti is helping with that on smaller paper.

photos of myself - I'm rarely happy how I look in photos and I'm usually behind the camera. I know I need to be IN the scrapbooks but it's hard.
Day 13 Layout #1 - "Homecoming" - 1-pg layout NRN designs stickers, SRM stickers, cardstock, Paper Studio Vintage Nation stack, journalling, 2 photos
Day 13 Layout #2 - " Believe" - 1-pg layout - really CUTE hedgehog PP (unk. manuf.) - this was paper I was saving for the perfect project because I loved it so, cardstock, Adornit Wild Strawberry PP, vellum quotes, 1 photo of ME!

I'm not really scared to try things, just not interested Same here. I don't have any interest in stamping or mixed media stuff. I used to have a sewing machine and sewed on my pages all the time. I loved it. But then it broke and I haven't replaced it. I'd like to, though. I'd buy another Kenmore Mini Ultra if I could find one. I haven't done any scrapping in the past few days but I have been doing some planning for the pictures that I'll be editing soon. I need to have a plan in mind or a sketch so I'll know if I need to resize them or use Photosheet. I'm making some good progress.

linda you are flying! And I am not a big fan of photos of ME, either. myboysnme , that stamping came out really crisp. And perfect for your story. LisaDV , I have been enviously looking at pages like Debbie's, thinking I would like to start putting in those cute little groupings in the corners, but it never seems to work for me. Maybe tomorrow... mjmone , I have liked the tutorials for the misti and its clones, but am thinking it may be another tool I have to have and then consign to a drawer somewhere. Do you use it a lot?

I don't know if I'm scared per se. I don't use mixed media on many layouts because usually the background seems to dominate my photos or I have so many photos that they cover all the details. I have sewn on layouts, but usually getting my sewing machine out seems like too much work. I'm not great at clusters. Maybe they scare me. Here's my LOAD page. Our prompt was to talk about how competitive we are. I didn't do anything I was scared of. Maybe tomorrow when I have more time.

grammadee, so far I do use my misti whenever I stamp with the cling stamps...but I find that I am so bad at getting a clear image and I need to do it twice most of the time, so it is a good tool for me.

Messy techniques. Mists. Extra fine loose glitter. Heat embossing.
