I had to work today and it wasn't exactly taxing work. My feet tonight are so swollen. I wasn't wearing fancy shoes (shiny flipflops with sequins) because as long as we sparkle we are fine. (j/k), seriously my feet are all puffy. It's not just my ankles, but the tops of my feet and up my shin as well. I can push on the skin and it does immediately come back up. I am not sick, I have only had this problem 20 years ago when I was expecting, it's warm right now temperature wise but not unbearable. What gives? Why am I retaining this kind of fluid I wonder? Does this happen to other Peas and how do you get rid of it?

When was the last time you had a full physical? Including a full blood panel?
It could be a multitude of things.
I would be worried about cardiac issues, but it also could be a side effect of your medications for other issues.
Sit down and put your feet up - literally.

DH gets like that. He can take his socks off at night and you can see deep indentations in his ankles where his socks end.

If I eat too much salt and don't drink enough water my feet swell just like you described. Blood panels for 2 years on a six month basis and there is not a thing wrong with me. My body just can't absorb salt like it used to.

elaine I just had blood taken to see things like potassium, sodium and calcium and they are all very healthy normal. (I got the results sent to my house and went over with my GP). My feet look awful tonight for some reason. I am laying on my side right now and I have peed quite a few times tonight now that I have been home. I am hoping it will get rid of the excess fluid. I will wear loose shoes again tomorrow and see how that goes as well. I think fully covered shoes will make my feet swell even more. My feet don't hurt from walking around or anything. We have really thick carpet in the store and the flip flops were very well cushioned. My feet are just FAT!

Perhaps not the same as you are experiencing......... About 3 years ago my left ankle began to swell. Elevating it and ice packs helped, but that got tiresome. I finally went to an ankle specialist who could not determine a cause. I wear the compression socks and it helps a great deal.

I only asked because it can be a symptom of so many things. My ankles and feet started swelling when I had unchecked Graves Disease. I, at the time, had no idea why they were swelling. I also know that fluid retention/edema can be a side effect of some medications. You may want to check to see if it is a side effect of any of your current meds.

When I eat a meal or two that too high in sodium and don't get enough water to counteract that...my ankles/feet swell.

I bought some for my mom and she never used them. I am willing to bet there are black and white ones in my drawer. i will wear them tomorrow. That is an awesome idea thank you! elaine, yes swelling can probably be a symptom of the meds. I am sure any one of them can cause swelling. By the way how is Maggie, the dog? You could post some recent photos of her to oggle at
