(language warning) Link to video - since the video isn't showing, inexplicably. Seems that there was rampant voter suppression going on. The above video shows Robert Lange (chairperson for NV DNC) making a ruling on a motion made by Sanders supporters for a recount. Jason Llanes (author of above video), who was also livestreaming the Convention all day, confirmed this on his video saying: “She (Lange) put in a new motion of her own, had someone second it, called for yays and nays and passed it before the nays even spoke,” he reported. Heavy.com has a very in-depth report on exactly what transpired: Nevada Democratic Convention: Stories of Voter SuppressionFrom the article: This is egregious behavior, completely shameful.

I saw this yesterday and went off to get the rest of the story.
There was no "voter suppression".
From what I read this caucus was to allocate x number of delegates between Hillary and Bernie. Whoever had the most registered supporters got the most delegates. There were requirements that had to be met by each supporter in order for them to be counted. Some, like registering as a Democrat, had to be done by 5/1.
There were some temporary changes that were voted on in the morning by yea or nay vote. (That has to be one of the dumbest way to vote)
Folks could register Friday evening and Saturday before the caucus.
First order of business was a yea or nay vote on the temporary rules.
From the beginning the Bernie supporters didn't like the temporary rules because they didn't benefit Sanders.
It seems the vote was taken earlier then advertised and while folks were still registering. The temporary rules were passed. Sanders supporters didn't like it.
The next item that upset the Sanders supporters was 64 of their want to be registered supporters were denied for various reasons including they had not registered as a Democrat by the deadline of May 1.
Eight of Hillary supporters didn't meet the requirements so they couldn't be counted either.
In the final tally Hillary had the most delegates by 33 so she won the majority of the delegates up for grabs for the convention.
By this time the caucus had become contentious and the purpose of the Sanders supporters had changed to disrupting caucus that included booing Senator Barbara Boxer off the stage because she gave a speech supporting Hillary Clinton.
When you read what happened it became clear the Sanders supporters shot themselves in the foot and started acting as two year olds because things didn't go their way.
The first slight was they didn't like the temporary rules. The rules were known prior to the caucus so the Sanders supporters put together a petition which they did nothing with. Second slight was not all the supporters were registered by the time the vote was taken for the temporary rules. If this vote was that important to the Sander supporters then why didn't they make sure all of the supporters were registered well before the end of the registration period?
The third slight came with the 64 who couldn't be counted because they didn't meet the requirements. Well who's fault is that? Again the Sanders campaign should have made sure all of the potential registered supporters had met all the requirements.
As to shutting down the caucus early before the Sanders supporters got what they wanted they brought that on themselves by their behavior. Rachel Maddow compared it to throwing chairs in the ring at a fight because the fans didn't get what they wanted
Bottom line the Sanders supporters should have paid attention to how Cruz understood the " rules" and by doing so was able to swiped delegates from Trump. There was no voter suppression just spoiled kids.

Absolutely shocking what Hillary Clinton and her supporters will stoop to in order to win this election. Every day that passes they do something else and this time they've left witnesses and done it right there with video evidence. My gosh, what will they do next?
They are destroying the Democratic Party. I got my updated voter notification card in the mail yesterday and for the first time in my life I was ashamed to read beside Party it listed me as Democrat.
KrazyScrapper-you can defend this all you want (and I know you will) but the evidence is there on video and in the words of the witnesses who were there. Obviously you have a right to your own opinion as we all do.
But I'm done. This is it-the straw that broke the camel's back. There is absolutely no way in hell I'm voting for Hillary Clinton come November. I don't care what it costs in the long wrong. I cannot vote for someone as corrupt as this. I will cast my vote for Jill Stein of the Green Party. Unless a miracle happens, Hillary is indicted and Bernie is the Democrat party runner. But that won't happen-she's probably paid the justice department to hold off on that until after the election.
I'm afraid this is what happens when you have someone this corrupt (Hillary Clinton) running and she keeps getting worse and worse. A lot of the Bernie Sanders supporters are going to get more and more angry and instead of coming over to Hillary Clinton they are moving further away. This is how Trump will win this election. Hillary is an idiot. She should be behaving in the opposite way. You catch more bees with honey than with vinegar.

Yesterday I spent way more time then I should have reading various reports about this caucus. I even read Fox News account who just loves making Democrats look bad.
There is no question this caucus was crazy. However the question one has to ask was was the caucus crazy on its own merit or did the Sanders supporters make it crazy by their actions.
From what I read the Sanders supporters made it crazy by their actions because they didn't know what they were doing. So because they didn't know what they were doing they didn't get what they wanted so they started blaming everyone but themselves. Again I refer you to the Cruz campaign. The Cruz campaign, like the Sanders campaign, had the same goal. At caucus like this wrap up as many delegates as they could. The Cruz campaign knew what needed to be done and did it. The Sanders supporters, for the most part, just milled around holding their Bernie signs and became extremely rude to Senator Boxer.
As to caucus in general. Dumb idea. Votes by yea or nay another dumb idea. However it is what it is and if your smart you work it to your advantage. The Sanders supporters didn't and now they are whining.
At least that that is the way I see after reading different accounts yesterday.

I don't see the sky falling nor am I unwilling to cast my vote come Novemeber because of who the nominees are. People like you just make me sad. We still live in a great country and should be proud of that fact.

We still live in a great country and should be proud of that fact. And I am not like the picture you painted of me. I never said I'd burn my voter card if Hillary becomes the nominee. I never said I hate Donald Trump, or that I see the sky falling no matter who is elected. And most of all I never once said I was unwilling to cast my vote come November. Never, ever once have I said that. I'm the one who encourages everyone not to sit home and waste their vote. I'm the one who reminds them of what the women before us had to do in order to get women the vote and how long they fought to win that battle. I have voted in every presidential election since I turned 18 in 1978. I consider it a duty and an honor. I stated that I would vote for Jill Stein of the Green Party if Bernie Sanders isn't on the Democrat ticket. That is a perfectly acceptable vote for an independent party member. It is not staying at home. Reading comprehension. It's a good thing. Debbie in MD.

Yes, I've heard and read this time and again. From all different sources. From REAL sources...not the very biased mainstream media sources. It was the very definition of voter suppression.

From Bernie Sander supporters, death threats over delegates. From the article :" Thrown chairs, leaked cellphone numbers. Death threats spewed across the Internet. " I really don't care what these "supporters" think happened to them or Bernie at the caucus. This is not how you behave if things don't go your way. Harry Reid just talked about what happened in Nevada and he is sure Sanders will speak out about it and said this is test of leadership. Harry Reid may be right. If Sanders can't show enough leadership to bring these rouge supporters in line how can he show enough leadership to guide this country? Note I'm saying " rouge" Sander supporters and not " all" Sander supporters. There is a difference.

I do agree with her though, we do need civility. I think some of what she had to say was pertinent. She took it too far though, salt in the wound is not the way to sway Sanders supporters. Period.

Here's my issue. There were huge issues with Caucus results in 2008. I'm not going to belabor ancient history, but suffice it to say Hillary Clinton was on the wrong end of that debacle. 2012 saw Rand Paul learn from President Obama that there were strategies to take advantage of the process and his supporters obtained way more representation at the convention than would be reflective of actual people voting for him. Did the parties work to clean up the issues - of course not - the campaigns worked to figure out how best to play the system. I believe in a representative democracy - I have no issue with the electoral college system - I have huge issues with the fact that political parties do not seem interested in who people are actually voting for in this process.

Without spending a ton of time on it, it certainly does seem like some of those votes when down pretty fast and that the people running the convention were doing everything they could to skew it towards Hillary. That said, the latest I'm reading still says that if you take away the whole super delegate thing, Bernie would have to get 95% of the remaining vote to be viable: LA Times summary article.
Bernie certainly seems willing to continue on and make the National DNC convention uncomfortable (shall we say?) for the democrats. Have we stopped pretending Bernie is a democrat? If he were, the pressure put on him by the higher up party leaders would mean something. As it stands, they have no clout with him: a common threat is withholding national funds/support for his next election. Since he's not a democrat, that's a non-issue. With his new name recognition, that's a double non-issue.
I remember the last Democrat National Convention and you could see the disappointment and sadness on the faces of the Hillary supporters as they reluctantly voted for Obama. I'm thinking this convention might not be so civil...

Well here is Bernie's statement about what happened in Nevada..... Oh goody it seems the Democrats now have the misfortune of having their own version of Trump. It will be interesting to see which one destroys their respective party.

As to Senator Boxer, I loathe that woman with every fiber of my being. Every time I have emailed her with a concern, I get her stock reply basically ignoring my concerns but telling me what a fabulous job she is doing for the US and me. She can't leave the Senate fast enough as far as I am concerned. Of course this has nothing to do with her being in Nevada.

I feel for the Bernie supporters, it seems every step of the way they've had to fight for everything. I see and hear so many more Bernie supporters out and about. They just don't seem to be shown in the media or in the votes, which of course is because so often they aren't allowed to vote (closed vs open).

The Washington Post - Here's what happened at Saturday's Nevada Democratic ConventionIt appears that there wasn't any voter suppression and that the delegates that were denied status is because they didn't follow the rules....it's called personal responsibility. You want to vote in a democratic primary or participate in a democratic convention, they you need to be registered as a democrat. Easy peasey, but obviously not to some. Why in the world would someone run as a Democrat and then not want to follow the rules in place....why? because then they can bitch, complain and cry "foul", "the election is being stolen" and a host of other ridiculous things when things don't go their way....plus they have the added benefit of tagging teaming her in conjunction with Trump....but she's got balls bigger than all of them and being to withstand the attacks of both parties for the last 25 years certainly cements my thoughts that she'll make a formidable President.
