In all the times we have been to Florida (Disney, etc.) I can only count on one hand the amount of times it has rained. We are headed there tomorrow and it looks like rain every day (80-100%). I know that means 80-100% of the Orlando area will see rain, but I'm not prepared nor happy about the forecast. The forecast is calling for thunderstorms. Should we prepare for rain all day? What have you been hearing about this week from your local forecasters? I can't trust weather.com.
Thanks!

Thanks! Consider yourself lucky that you haven't seen rain! I have been to Orlando several times, always in summer, and I can't think of a trip where we didn't have at least one day of rain. I have pictures of us in Epcot with our rain ponchos on one year and we look soggy but happy. I would pack lightweight ponchos and extra socks and enjoy the vacation.

I've lived in the Orlando area for 30 years...to me it's our "normal" summer weather. It's been very hot & humid of late. It's not uncommon to have afternoon thunderstorms lasting anywhere from 15/20 minutes to a couple of hours of rain. Sometimes you can just drive down the street a little ways and either drive right into a downpour or out of a downpour.
I would prepare for afternoon storms and consider myself lucky if they don't happen. By prepare, I mean keep umbrellas in the car or pack a rain poncho if you're going to be out and about at one of the theme parks. Also, do not keep your windows down on your car because you never can tell when a storm will pop up.

Normally we do get frequent rain in late spring and summer. But our rain showers (even thunderstorms) are pretty quick. Keep an umbrella with you and keep ponchos with you for the theme parks. They usually pass pretty quickly.

It's raining today, but I'm near Tampa. It's been overcast today (the whole day). NORMALLY here we get a violent rainstorm out of the blue and then 10 minutes later it's cleared up and all dry. For the past year though, FL has been getting rain that's lasted for days on end. I haven't seen that yet this year. Bring a hooded rainjacket that you could fold up and carry in your bag. Even Floridians do this in "rainy season". I do it all year here. I also carry an extra sweater, an umbrella, socks and sneakers, rainboots, etc., because I never know how cold I'll get. I dress in layers.

It has been overcast all day. I think it is supposed to be fairly rainy this week, and the forecast does call for thunderstorms. From what I can tell though is that is will be most overcast with periods of rain so a poncho that can be tucked away would be a great plan. What you do not want is a heavy weight rain coat-if you are outside you will roast.
If you check weather underground for Orlando, they have a feature that tells you the rain chance hour by hour. I find that it is pretty accurate.

I agree with the coat, the low says 70's and high is in the 80's. I would fry.
By "fairly rainy", do you mean all day?
