Well, I didn't see any of that coming. Liv *saved* Jake by putting him on Mellie's ticket as her VP. Once he was out of Papa Pope's house, he wanted to live a normal life but Liv pretty much forced him onstage. Once Jake was *stolen* from Vargas' campaign, Cyrus became Vargas' VP candidate. Cyrus broke up with Tom and got his *husband* and daughter back. The last scene kind of confused me. Papa Pope seemed mighty please with the goings-on. Was that his plan all along or is he just glad that Liv has become just like him? Wish the writers would go back to the first few seasons and give us the story lines we want.

cadoodlebug I thought it was Papa Pope's plan all along- but who knows?

I agree, Papa Pope was too smug there at the end.

In the end Papa Pope got what he wanted, Jake as VP. I'm sure next season we'll see him pulling the strings. I think I might skip the show next season. I don't like how they've turned Olivia into a female version of her father.

I just finished watching it. When Papa Pope was so smug at the end, and the balloons started to fall on Melly and Jake, I was seriously expecting some kind of explosion. I'm glad it didn't happen, but yeah, I think his plan was to get Jake into the VP slot, and he got his way.

I didn't see any of it coming either. I wish they would go back to fixing instead of focusing on Olivia and her father. It was so much more interesting when they were fixing other people's problems instead of their own.
I still will watch it next season (mostly because I love Scott Foley and will watch him in anything!).
But hopefully they get rid of the Elizabeth character, never understood the purpose of her character other than to be annoying. And I really hate how they dumbed down David's character. Tom is so creepy. And Cyrus...well was Cyrus. Though next season, I hope they bring back Vargas' brother...now that was an interesting character!

I didn't enjoy the finale much. I thought the episode before was much better. I just hated that Susan was out though she is much too honest for this crowd.
I think Cyrus just made a dangerous enemy of Tom. It annoys me when a show closes ranks like this and there are no new characters in the mix. They didn't even show Vargus' wife on stage with him. There is Cyrus with Michael and his daughter and Vargus has no family with him. And Jake's new wife wasn't even in the episode where her own father dies (or is murdered).
They are going to have a challenge next year as everyone is getting very tired of elections IRL. I think they will just need to make Mellie the President and start at that point. We know she is going to win anyway.
Scandal used to be my favorite show but it is falling far down the list. Shows that keep their case-of-the-week mixed in with on-going stories do much better over time.

Yeah, I don't think he cared who got him there, he's thinking he will be running the White House. I expect whomever is elected to suddenly die and Jake become the next President. I wonder what Fitz's role will be in the next season.
