Brought to you by the letter F!
What do you do to document festive events and seasons? Like Christmas, Easter, birthdays & anniversaries? Graduations? Weddings? Do you include them in your regular albums? Does each special event have its own album or mini? Do you use special papers and trims?
And for your challenge: LisaDV challenged us to scrap our holiday photos. I sometimes find this extra challenging because I want the pages to be extra special, and I keep looking for just that perfect combination of elements. On the other hand, I usually have TONS of photos for any event like this, so I have trouble stopping at only a page or two.
Anyway, happy Friday! This is the beginning of a long weekend in Canada. (Monday is Victoria Day).

I am addicted to doing minis. For me, minis usually mean a 6x8 albums, which I guess aren't that small. I like doing albums of this size based on events because it gives me a definite beginning and end and thus an achievable goal to work towards. I'm considering starting a catch-all sort of album so this could be a great kick in the pants to scrap some of the holidays I don't have as much for (really anything but Christmas) for that album. Looking forward to see what everyone creates!

What do you do to document festive events and seasons? Most of my holidays and events just go in my every day album. It's a 8.5x11" I do tend to run theme-y with Easter, St. Patrick's Day, & birthdays, because it's just easier for me to make a cohesive layout that way. Less thinking. For Christmas (Well, Thanksgiving through New Year's Day) I do a modified version of December Daily. I use an 8x8" postbound album (I only mention the type because usually I use 3-ring albums, but for DD I don't want to have endless adding space. I want a definitive end.) My DD is always color-themed. The first year it was silver, teal, and aqua. Last year it was red, green, and pink. The month or two before I start gathering supplies. Drawing them from my stash. Picking them up in stores as I see them go on clearance. I like to make my DD embellishment heavy. I also like to use authentic memorabilia. Scraps of wrapping paper. A cute holiday tag. I store all my DD gathered supplies in a 2 gallon zippy bag, just waiting for me to dive right in. I don't work on putting my DD together until January 2nd, when I order all the photos for it. (tip: make a single folder on your computer's desktop/on Snapfish for DD photos and add to it as you upload them. Then you can just order them all in one batch and they'll all be together) It usually take me a couple of weeks to get it all together, once I have the photos in my hand. But I like doing it after the holidays, because I get to remember the fun of it all, and there is no rushed feel to it.

my holiday photos go in the regular family album (8.5x11). I do tend to go theme-y with them - I'm all about the theme anyway but holidays even more so. I'm okay with multiple layouts but I usually try to limit by sub-event (so for Easter - I had Easter Eggs (colouring them), Easter Morning at home (baskets and egg hunt), Egg Hunt (church), Easter (we take family pictures outside the church) and Easter Dinner - most of those layouts this year were single page, the Easter and Easter dinner were 2-pg (mostly because my oldest was home on leave so I took a few extra photos)

In the normal everyday life chronological album, I generally put in a 1-2 page spread of Valentine's Day, I try to get Easter (sometimes it's several pages, sometimes just one).
Birthday's and Christmas is where I falter. I want them to be special.
I just bought 2 gold albums and I will put all Christmas layouts in there. My 2012 which is where I started has some traditional. I then bought some papers and printed the rest of 2012 (they won't be cohesive with patterns). I also printed out the photos for 2011. I have done digital layouts for 2014 (thanks Calvinball). I'll store the layouts by year.

I include holidays in my regular book, but I don't necessarily scrap all of them anymore. They got so repetitive. What I ended up doing with Christmas last year was using the Project Life app to scrap them while we were still together. I haven't printed the pages yet but I plan to.

I include holidays in my regular albums. I do tend to scrap them with theme papers and goodies. DS is a fun age where the cutesy papers are a blast to use. Plus I tend to have photos that look good with the papers... I.e. his Easter photos are all pastel with the shirt he's wearing, the eggs, etc. So they tend to look nice with the themed papers.
I've never done a December Daily, but I bought a bunch of stuff to do one for this year 2016 (on super clearance in January). So I'll scrap this Christmas stuff in a separate album that's 6x12. But I'll probably do a spread or two for our family albums with the same photos or more of the photos from a day as well.
I know some don't like to scrap holidays, but I love, love love scrapping them!

Christmas is really the only holiday I document, doing a DD/JYC album every year. I absolutely love these finished projects which are different sizes each year but usually no bigger than 7x9. I create my own kit just before I start the project, pulling supplies from my stash, then work almost exclusively from that kit during Dec. I try to have the album finished by the new year (I only cover Dec 1 to either Christmas day or Boxing day).

Right now I am working on grandchildren books...they get one per year, so holidays, birthdays go in chronological order in the book.
I have done Shimelle's Christmas albums...where each year gets its own year, with a pic and journalling each day.
and when it is a special event, like fil's 80th birthday, it will get its own album.
Challenge might be an easier one for me, as I can do dgd's Halloween pic from last year....it is next in the stack!
