The first one I remember buying was the Grease album. I went straight from seeing the movie to purchasing the album. And because my sister wouldn't pitch in, I only let her sing the boy part.
Why yes, I was the big sister. :-p

Very likely either a Partridge Family or Osmond album. I still have a crush on Donny Osmond. We were in Vegas in February to celebrate our 25 th anniversary. I was so looking forward to seeing Donny and Marie, but they were on hiatus

I was so looking forward to seeing Donny and Marie, but they were on hiatus Well, Princess Amy, you are going to be totally jealous because I just saw Donny Osmond! I wanted to see him in Atlantic City but the tickets were outrageously expensive; then I heard on the radio that he had added a show at this little theater in Connecticut. So I called my sister and - ROAD TRIP! She treated me for my birthday. I have had a crush on Donny since I was 5 years old and I have to say I wasn't disappointed - he put on a REALLY good show. I wanted to see him sort of as a bucket-list item but it was great!

I think the first album was Captain and Tenille.
The first CD was Roxy Music's Avalon, which I had on LP and cassette. When I got my first CD player I knew I needed it on CD.

The first 45 I ever bought was the Bay City Rollers, Saturday Night. First LP was Elton John's Greatest Hits. This thread has brought back a lot of fun memories! YES!!!! I love this thread so much.

I bought two at once. Patsy Cline and Reba McEntire. I think I was 8... My tastes have evolved a bit.

Ya'll have me checking my collection! I think that the first LP that I bought was The Best of Cream when I joined the Columbia record club. That's probably about the time I got my own turntable. I do remembering going to the record store to buy the 45 of "Satisfaction". Can't believe that was okay. Another 45 that I'm surprised wasn't banned at my house was Bob Dylan's Rainy Day Women #12 & 45. I dad like the Carpenters too. I'm eclectic like that.

My first album was given to me for my birthday. Kimberly Karcher lived across the street and gave me "Donny & Marie - New Season". I think I may have been 11 or 12.

The first CDs I bought were Ace of Base and The Bodyguard soundtrack in 1992. I was 12 or 13 and was also buying my first CD player with my babysitting money.

I am too old to remember, but it was definitely an album. Maybe an Osmond or Jackson 5? "CD" still meant "Certificate of Deposit" back in my time!

I bought 45s first. I bought the first 2 at the same time. Another one bites the dust by Queen and Physical by Olivia Newton John. I think the first album I bought was the Xanadu soundtrack. Then a bunch of Duran Duran albums.

I know one was "Crazy"... Not sure about the Reba one though. I'll have to check out album covers and see if I can figure it out.

The first one I went out and bought by myself with my very own money was "East" by Cold Chisel and "The Boys Light Up" by Aussie Crawl in 1980 when I was 13yo. I had been given a $10 gift voucher by my aunty but both records came to $15 so I had to borrow $5 from my mum to get them both. (So in actual fact it was not really my very own money!) Those records were played to death. I till have the records and I have since bought both of them on CD and iTunes as well.
