I love the look of foil but have no room for a laminator. So, I've been searching for ways to foil w/just adhesive/dies or w/my heat tool. I saw someone foil w/sticky embossing powder and setting the foil on the powder when it's hot. I bought some Judikins Sticky embossing powder to try it out. I can't get the foil to release on the hot powder. Has anyone else been able to make this work? If not, does anyone have any ideas about how else to use the sticky powder?

I've used sticky powder and foil. But I used a laminator to make it work. I think you need the heat to re-activate the sticky powder to actually adhere the foil.
I've also used an adhesive pen and the Deco Foil by Therm O Web and a Big Shot. The pressure helps adhere the foil. An this particular foil does not need heat to work. I just saw Jen Schow do a video using a brayer instead of the Big Shot.

Thanks @scrappymom. That worked!!! I didn't heat the sticky powder as long, put the foil on it right away and then ran it through the die cutter to pressure it on. MMUUUCCCHHHHH better!

I have watched a number of YouTube vids on how to foil without a laminator and they provided great info. I also used an iron till I bought my laminator. The iron worked well for foiling once in a while - but it would always leave black spots on the most important projects so I was forced to upgrade to new equipment.

I started out with embossing powder and my laminator but didn't get very consistent results and ended up buying a Minc. But good that you got it to work ok!
