I'd really like to be able to use my wifi out in my backyard. But it seems if I step food outside I'm on cell service.
I already have an extender due to poor reception so I'm not sure how that all works. I'm kinda dumb.
So what's your first world problem of the week? Cuz it's Friday, enjoy!

My first world problem currently is that it looks like I'm not going to get my first choice of puppy. I had my heart set on one specific one but the rescue is hesitant to place her here because she's taken to darting out the door...and I have kids. The rescue lady is afraid the pup will dart out the door when the kids are going in/out. I get her concern totally but still bums me out. But not too much...we're going to see a different puppy tonight.

The move isn't coming together the way I want it to, thus creating a massive amount of stress. In the grand scheme of things, this really shouldn't be an issue... thus it's very much a first world problem. And we're all grumpy about it.

construction delays on our new kitchen. We are moving the kitchen, so still have the old kitchen in place, so can still cook. We will have about 4 weeks with no kitchen. We had hoped those weeks would coincide with our kids being away at camp, but instead it will be late August/early September.

I am two weeks overdue on a pedicure and my toes look nasty. But it's 105 so there is no way I'm wearing close toed shoes...people are just going to have to deal with my chipped toenails until Sunday.

But maybe it just wasn't meant to be, and your dog is patiently waiting for you. Good luck. My FWP is that I have to go back to work when school starts on the 18th. Boo hoo....poor me! Maybe if I buy powerball tix...... Oh well, such is life!

Thanks girls! We've offered to put up a gate at the top of the stairs on our deck so that even if she escapes out the door, she wouldn't be able to go far. I haven't heard back from her since offering that. She did say that the foster mom is working with her diligently to train her not to do it. And I've read up on a couple of different ways to train them not to do it. So it's definitely something you can train them not to do.

Rough first world week.
Monday, something happened and I had no water when I got up to got to work. While investigating the water situation, left my $900+ glasses on the couch which the dog destroyed beyond repair. Now wearing old glasses (can't see very much without them) and have had a non-stop headache.
Tuesday night the dogs were racing for a bone or toy and the older girl snipped at the young one and cut his ear. Next morning he went to the vet, anesthesia and stitches. Been cleaning blood of the floors, walls and cabinets for days. He is fine, but big hit to the bank account.
Wednesday my laptop, Mac Air, is refusing to charge. Going in for service but it is older and may not be repairable.
Thursday, was using the work camera, hit it on the door jam (please see Monday) and dropped it. Luckily it fell on carpet, but broke the flash, destroyed the mount and something is rattling inside. I have to replace it. Good news is when I initially ordered it I was frugal so it should not be too expensive to replace.
Today is a new day and I will bravely but carefully go forth and probably sell some belongings to compensate for the mess that was this week.

My local store that I shop at hasn't gotten any of the coffee in at the sale price they promised (groan inserted).
My weight is too high and I am starting to diet today. I am back working out but it will be a long haul (I have plenty of food. Enough to make me gain weight while people are starving in the world. I can afford a gym membership and should be thankful that I can go using my car.)

My husband is going on a business trip to Alaska next week. He grew up in Alaska, but I have never been. He asked me to go with him, and I was thrilled. However, my daughter had a major knee operation in June (stem cell cartilage transplant) and a follow up in July and is not progressing as quickly as we had hoped, so I need to stay home with her.

I tired to tell her it maybe rewarding for her but she wants to stay with daddy. Oh well plans never work for me in this house.

I had wanted to go and visit friends in Toronto this weekend and maybe see part of Caribana this weekend. Not going to happen. Traffic is a mess all due to a drunk dump-truck driver crashed into the Burlington Skyway and has caused havoc for anyone wanting to drive from Niagara to Toronto or to Northern Ontario this weekend.
From CBC Canada: The Burlington Skyway crash yesterday has created a storm of travel questions ahead of the busy August holiday weekend.
The driver of a large truck crashed into and damaged the Skyway on Thursday, putting a cloud over Toronto-bound traffic ahead of the Civic Holiday in Ontario.
Sukhvinder Singh Rai, 34, of Brampton, Ont., was arrested at the scene and taken to the Burlington OPP detachment for breath tests. He faces one count of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and one count of blood alcohol level exceeding 80 milligrams while operating a motor vehicle.
Here's more of what you need to know about the Burlington Skyway crash and bridge closure:
What happened:
On Thursday, at 3:40 p.m. ET, a dump truck tried to travel over the bridge with its bucket raised. The bucket slammed into the bridge's overhead steel trusses and girders, causing extensive damage.
What's closed:
The Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) is closed between Eastport Drive and North Shore Boulevard. The lanes to Toronto are closed. The bridge now needs to be inspected by structural engineers, which is expected to happen Friday. The repairs, however, could take days. The closure only affects Toronto-bound traffic on the QEW. Traffic lanes heading south over the bridge and into the Niagara Region will be open, though drivers can expect it will be slow. CBC's Linda Ward reports that the OPP expects to have an update on when the bridge might reopen around suppertime.
How busy is this bridge?:
Located at the western end of Lake Ontario, the bridge is a crucial link between the Greater Toronto Area and the Niagara Peninsula, which borders upstate New York. It carries about 80,000 vehicles a day.
To make matters worse:
The August long weekend is one of the summer's busiest for highway travel. Carloads of visitors, many from the U.S., make the trip to Toronto for the Caribana parade and festival.

My work hours have been adjusted slightly...I have to be in 15 minutes earlier than I'm used to. I can't seem to manage to get up 15 minutes earlier so I end up scrambling out the door every morning trying to get to work on time.
DH's FWP is that he can't find the charging cord for his phone. My guess is that it's among the tangle of cords he has for his music equipment.

They were supposed to start construction on our outdoor kitchen at our beach home on Tuesday. We came down yesterday and nothing. They haven't even started yet. I know these people are slow. We've worked with them before but was really hoping to see some progress when we came. Oh well...it will get done. We're on island time down here. They work at their own pace.

Finally getting new decks and siding and the guys started 4 days late due to materials. They will be taking about 2 weeks total to finish IF the weather cooperates. It has been only 1 hour into the start of the job and both dogs are about to drive me insane with the barking... I may not last 2 weeks!
Editing to add now the lawn guys have showed up so we have decking guys at the rear of the house and lawn guys at the front. The dogs are pacing back and forth now barking at both end of the house...LOVELY! Thankfully the lawn guys won't be back for 2 more weeks now.

The laminator at school is broken. Won't be replaced until January at the earliest. This sucks!! You have the paper issue, also, correct? One thing I did last year was bought a personal laminator from BJ's (I found the best deal there). It helped out in a pinch. Beginning of the year laminating is so consuming, I know, but the cost may be better than taking items to a place to laminate.
