Do you use sketches as inspiration? If so, where do you find them?
While paper crafting is a creative persuit, we don't have to reinvent the wheel every time we put a page or card together. Even when I out and out scraplift a page, mine still ends up different from the original, and I really enjoy looking at all the variety that can be inspired by one sketch. I love the monthly sketch/scraplift challenge KikiPea hosts here at 2peas, and usually try to use her selected plan in some way.
I check out Page Maps each month, and when I am hunting for ideas for a particular set of photos will go back to look at their archive until I find something that fits. Each month Creative Scrapbooker Magazine hosts "It's a Sketchy Challenge" with a featured sketch each month, plus lots of examples in their Gallery. So today's challenge is to share a sketch you like with us, and if you have the time create something inspired by that sketch.

Thanks! I love using sketches, especially when I have several LO's with the same amount and orientation of photos, and don't want them all to look alike, or if I am just plain stumped. The cool thing about them, for me, is that they are a jumping off point. Sometimes, my LO's look identical to the sketch, but that is actually very rare. I love that they give me inspiration, but I can let my own creativity take off. Usually, I will just google what I am looking for...1 photo scrapbook sketch...and go from there.

Love sketches, but don't use them very much.
When I started Scrapbooking the CTMH Reflections binder was my 'bible'...
I do have a handful of page sketch books, only one pagemaps though, and I keep the cards right next to my desk when I am lost and need that inspiration. Keep telling myself I want to use them more.
I also love seeing what others do with the same sketch, how personalities and styles can make it different.

Another pea, Scrapthology, makes sketches and posts them every Sunday on her blog. She has a link in the sidebar to them on Pinterest for easy access.

Thanks for the mention Lisa. I'm trying to get them all on Pinterest, it's taking a little time....but I'll get it done eventually.

Thanks grammadee for the link to Creative Scrapbooker. I must have been living under a rock, because I have never seen this website or heard of the magazine! I have spent a half hour just looking around there. I have a hard time using sketches because most are 12x12 and I scrap 8.5x11 and I pretty much always scrap 4x6 or 5x7 photos. When I find a sketch I think will work I try to follow it but it usually goes its own way. It does get me started though! If I am stuck I always look for a sketch to give me some ideas.

This challenge is not for me, haha! I have never used a sketch in my memory. I won't even have a chance to use one this week even if I did! But I look forward to everyone's posts. I know we all remember Becky Higgins' Sketch Books! They used to be the bible of page construction! I never used it though. You can buy this best of book for about $10. I have and still use that book as well as the two magazine style ones

Do you use sketches as inspiration? If so, where do you find them? I try to, but I never end up actually lifting the whole layout. I'll find a sketch that I like, but I will end up only using one element of it (like the way the border is, or the title placement), and then I go off on my own and do my own thing. I like to look at Pinterest for actual sketches, but I find inspiration from all layouts that I see (on here, pinterest, etc)

I probably use sketches for about half my layouts. I love the inspiration and flexibility. Sometimes they look similar to the sketch sometimes you would never recognize it. Like others have said, they are a starting point.
I have some magazines and some sites like Pagemaps saved but mostly I rely on Pinterest these days. It's like one stop shopping. LOL
I certainly wish I wasn't stuck here at work tonight so I could play along! I'll be back at it by the weekend though!

I signed up for an online class put on by TracieClaiborne and Crafty Jenn Schow called Ready, Sketch, Go. I've really enjoyed using their sketches. Pinterest is my go-to place online to look for sketches.

I don't use sketches as inspiration unless it's part of a challenge. -- But I will, especially if it supports a pea. It's just not where I'd go if I was stuck. I'd go to a challenge or pinterest and scraplift before turning to a sketch.

I go through phases of using sketches and I've taken a couple of sketch based classes in my time. If I'm working on a project album I love sketches because it's one less thing I have to think about. I love sketches by Page Maps, Scrapbook Generation, and Got Sketch? (even though she no longer posts sketches).

I love sketches. I ran out of scrapbooking steam somewhere around 2003, and sketches are what got me going again. They really added new joy to my scrapping. I get a lot of sketches on Pinterest these days, but my favorite sites for sketches are Sketch Savvy and Nuts about Sketches. I have several sketch books and have taken several sketch classes as well.
