Happy June ladies!! I hope your week is off to a good start! I had a great eating day yesterday and I exercised so I'm starting off the week doing well. Today I don't have much going on. I have the laundry all caught up and the house is in good shape. I do need to do a little food prep - mostly making egg patties for dh and ds. I am going to work out....just not sure if I want to do the C25K or not. I hope you all have a great day!!

Man @brand327, I wish I had my laundry all caught up. It is a never ending fight. LOL! Did well yesterday, and I hope to today. Have to take another daughter for her Botox injections today (32 of them) for her migraines caused by her Chiari. It is during my other daughter's cardiac rehab so either we have to go early today or skip it. I don't know what she has decided yet. She hates to miss but can't drive so . . . I hope to walk a doggie in a moment. It's already so humid. I love Spring and Fall but man, summer kills me. I am still trying to figure out how I handled TX for 14 years. LOL! Have a great day everyone!

Patter Well it was done yesterday...this morning there's more to do. LOL I did W4D1 of the C25K...I thought I was going to die. Warm up walk for 5 mins, 3 mins running, 90 secs walking, 5 mins running, 90 secs walking, 3 mins running, 90 secs walking, 5 mins running, 5 min cool down walk. I made it...barely. And I had to drop my speed by the end of the last run. Workout is done for the day!

Ugh. I am so tired. My stepmom and sister came up last night and didn't get here until after 1:00 am. I am hoping to get my workout in after dropping the kids at school but right now I'm dragging.
I had a good eating day yesterday and have my food planned for today. The major hurdle is that the kids asked to go to Dairy Queen last night, but I said maybe we could go to Cold Stome tonight instead since sister and stepmom will be here. Any suggestions on healthier options? We don't go there often so I would like to have at least a little bit of ice cream but we will see.
I better go get the kids up. Have a good day everyone!

LOL brandy327, yes, never ending laundry is the name of the game I guess. And wow, I would have never made it running like you did this morning. Great going!!!! And iamkristinl16, we had Cold Stone a few days ago. I don't think there is a healthier option other than maybe a small cup. If you find something, I would love to know. And wow, 1 a.m.? I have never had someone get in like that. I would be dragging too for sure!

For Cold Stone...personally what I'd do is get the smallest size possible and get ONLY the ice cream. You can really start adding up calories and whatnot when you start adding in the toppings. Or choose ONE single topping to mix in. A healthier option would be a place like Tutti Fruiti or Orange Leaf were it's FroYo.

Morning!
So far so good this week! I've been sticking to plan, although I did have a few glasses of wine last night for my Mom's birthday.
I'm taking her to lunch today, but I've already checked out the menu and know what I plan to have for lunch.
And now I have to get to work.....two weddings this week, and a ton of flowers to make for the one cake....so off I go.
Have a good one everybody!

I was looking on the website and there is no nutrition info. I wasn't sure if mfp was correct (and was hoping it wasn't since what I usually get--the pie who loved me in like it size--was over 600 calories.

I brought my a1c down to 6.4, so I am happy. Still testing my blood sugar to get an idea of how my body reacts to different foods, doc said that was fine. So no medications right now, doc was proud of me for bringing my number down. My triglycerides are REALLY high though, so that is something I need to work on.
And walking. Our department has been really understaffed the last month so it is hard for me to get away and walk outside during lunch...I need to work on that.

They live about 5 hours away but end up getting here a few hours after they say they will. It is frustrating but I'm glad they came. I had a hard time getting to sleep after they got here so didn't get much sleep.

Good morning ladies! brandy327Check out the Beginner Runner Billage podcast. She has a new episode about walk to run programs you might be interested in. I am so proud of you! I have been really struggling with my running. I took the entire weekend off and have decided to adopt a much healthier perspective on it. I will only run every other day now. It is not about mileage. It is about doing it. I listened to a few podcasts about marathon runners and realized the mileage I was putting in each week was almost as much as they were. No need for that. I need to keep my body strong and not sore abs broken. I feel good about my decisions. I have been doing great with my eating since school is out. That makes me happy. Today will be a busy one. We are getting our carpets cleaned and our fridge repaired today. The auto defrost stopped working. Ugh. I am still in the middle of cleaning our log walls. Basically our entire first floor has log exterior walls. Between each log is a row of chinking. I have scrubbed all the walls with peroxide to clean them and brighten them. Now I have to go back and paint the miles and miles of chinking between each log. OMG...it is never ending. I feel like I have a claw hand. Basically it is like cutting in each wall 7 times. Patter I am constantly amazed by the sheer number of appointments you drive too. Your poor babies!

Booty Boot Camp this morning - 225 hamstring curls & 150 deadlifts. I won't be taking the stairs any time soon.
Breakfast - crumpets with coconut butter and jam, coffee (of course) Lunch - probably a chicken sandwich Dinner - I'm sitting choir auditions tonight so I'll have to grab something on the go.

Hi all! Long time no see. Work is super crazy. Our HR Director left leaving me to be the only HR person for 2,500 employees. I travelled 1200 miles in one week and have been working 60 hour weeks trying to not drown. Our new person starts in 4 weeks! I don't know how much longer I can do this.... Eating has been crazy since I have been on the road so much.
But, I did set a goal in April to do at least 100 sit ups a day in May. And I did it!!!! At least 3,100 sit ups. Some days at my cardio class I did more than 100 plus some planks so I am not sure of the total number. I did take photos and you can tell a difference. I have had 3 babies and the lower abdominal skin just isn't tight anymore no matter what I do! It's gotten better but it's still loose.
Anyway, I just need to be back in my daily schedule. I actually gained a few pounds from all this and am sitting about 3 pounds heavier than my last check in. I have only gotten about 3 workouts a week in. This week I am in the office more so I am going to 3 lunchtime kickboxing classes just to get back on track.
B- vegan protein shake and a banana l- quinoa, roasted veggies and black beans s- half of a red bell pepper d- spinach and mushroom quesadillas

And I had to drop my speed by the end of the last run. It's OK to drop your speed You're doing it! Don't worry at all right now about speed. Five minutes of running is a big deal. The group I'm mentoring in has five minute run intervals this week - and it's their ninth week. You're on week four and doing that already! That's good. Gives your body time to rest and recover. Recovery is really important. My DH was doing a running streak this year, but he kept getting injured. He finally took some time off to rest - after 148 days. I'm reading this book right now: Meb For Mortals: How to Run, Think, and Eat like a Champion Marathoner It's a fairly quick read. He does talk quite a bit about the products he uses, but he notes which ones are his sponsors. But, I did set a goal in April to do at least 100 sit ups a day in May. And I did it!!!! At least 3,100 sit ups. Some days at my cardio class I did more than 100 plus some planks so I am not sure of the total number. That is awesome! Wow!!! Way to go!!! I ran with my running group last night and then went to the gym to swim laps. Had my best swim to date and really surprised myself. Today I'll practice dog agility with my border collie. Today is Global Running Day! Enjoy!

Hi everyone! I haven't been posting but I've read the thread every day. It has been the story of life lately, I'm losing and gaining. I manage to lose some pounds, then something like a party or a trip comes up and I gain everything back. I have forgotten my goal weight for the wedding (I am the maid of honor) and just decided to invest to really good shapewear. The spring was really difficult with me being sick all the time. Even though I haven't lost any weight I'm happy with my progress. I joined a gym and have been going there at least twice a week -that's a good for me. I would love to go more, but my weekends are pretty full and work has been extra stressful. Summer helps me to get motivated. I live in a country where the winter is long, dark and cold. Summer is full of light (sunset is tonight around 10.30pm) and it gives me so much energy. I am a different person in the summer! It has been really nice and sunny, over 68F lately and I love it!

Ugh- I got into the frozen yogurt last night and my belly feels like crap. I did throw out the rest of it this morning. I need to be zapped with an electrical shock each time I open the freezer case at the grocery. I will make up for it today! Not sure why but I was so hungry at 8:00 last night- unusual for me. I had eaten a few lean ground beef/oatmeal meatballs, steamed cabbage, 1/2 apple w/peanut butter at 6. Of course. I have to be weighed at the end of week.

Hello ladies! I had a great weekend but perhaps not totally great in the eating department. My husband made ribs and pulled pork on the smoker and there was fro-yo and chicken wings in there somewhere as well. I took Saturday off from working out as I hadn't had a day off in two weeks and my hips were bothering me at night (enough to wake me up). It worked out well as I feel like a new woman and had two great workouts Sunday and Monday (probably due in part to all the carbs!)
The good news is that I had no problem dialing in back in for other meals and starting back Tuesday on a more healthy direction. Even better is that I weighed in this morning and was the same weight as last week. I have several events coming up in the next couple weeks -- my nephew's graduation party, my in-laws are staying with us for a couple of days and my husband is taking a week vacation which tends to lead more to eating out. But then ... Monday June 20 is day one of Whole 30. I've been reading and planning and cutting back on some things so It isn't such a shock to my system. (They say you can have a couple days of misery near the beginning, carb flu I think they call it?). Anyhow, I'm going to try hard to not let the that two-three weeks turn into a eating disaster partly because I've been doing so well and mostly because it makes me feel terrible (physically mostly but also mentally).
Off to walk the dogs :-)

Good afternoon everyone. I am new to this thread but I am going to try to walk at least 10 minutes 3 times a day (hmm I am not sure for how long until I bump it up longer.) Today I will probably only do it twice but my plan is to set my alarm 15 minutes early so I can walk the first time before work.

Hi everyone,
Sounds like so much progress has been made! I am so proud of everyone in this thread!!!
I'm chugging along well myself. Still not exercising, but I'm still on track with my eating. I'm choosing to be proud of myself for the good eating habits rather than beat myself up for failing to exercise.
I've been thinking about goals for the month of June, has anyone else set any for themselves?

My thighs just spasmed in sympathy. I'm actually doing okay so far (although, tomorrow may be a different story). I find it's the squats that kill me.
I just noticed that what I had planned to eat today (other than the 'whatever' for dinner) puts me grossly under calories. And I'm hungry af right now. I think I might have to stop at Chipotle on the way to choir.
My hat is off to all of you runners. I did C25K last year, ran a 5K event then quit. Of only I didn't hate it so much. . .

Joining you guys for the first time. I need to lose about 25lbs. Honestly, I'd be thrilled with 20lbs. DH was just diagnosed with pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, and needs to lose 10-15lbs, so my goal is better eating choices. He's a meat and potatoes guy, so I'm trying to transition us into more vegetables. I've cut most of the potatoes. No more chips. More water. Much much more water. We're both super active - we walked close to 30,000 steps day before yesterday (chasing cows), and 10,000 - 12,000 is common, so I think eating choices and more water will help lots. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.

Good afternoon ladies,
I have to thank you all. This post gives me some accountability, which I need to make myself do miserable things. It makes me keep going on the mornings when I really want to turn off my early alarm for another 30 minutes of sleep. Reading your successes and struggles makes me not feel like I'm fighting the weight battle on my own. So far, it's made a difference. I appreciate it.
This morning was Day 9 of BBM for me. A cardio day. Cardio days are tougher for me than strength days. I enjoy the strength days. But, by the time I was done, I was feeling pretty good. A couple hours later, I'm questioning which move I did that is making my butt sore. Ha. After this week, I think I'm ready to increase my free weights up to 10 lbs from 5. I started low so that not every single muscle in my body hurt at the same time!
I sinned big and ate Culver's for dinner last night. It rained out the meal I had planned and it was a crap day at work. I work in the insurance industry. The day after a long weekend is hell. Top it off, I had to file a life insurance claim for a great client who died very unexpectedly about a week ago. His widow visited the office yesterday to let us know. It was heartbreaking. DH had a craving and I just went with it. Oh well. Back to the good stuff today. Lunch was leftovers from the fajitas I made the other night, grilled chicken, peppers and onions, mixed in with a little brown rice. Heated it up and sat in the park by the river for lunch. Tonight, I get a salad with the last of this fajita chicken. The men can eat heartier fare.

I love to exercise but I can work myself sick at the gym and only burn 300 calories and 50 of those calories would have been burned anyway (just breathing and having my heart pump, etc) if I had stayed home in bed.

My hat is off to all of you runners. I did C25K last year, ran a 5K event then quit. Of only I didn't hate it so much. . . The only way I've gotten to enjoy it is by running with people. I could not do it alone - I tried. Meeting others and getting together to run has helped me tremendously. I'm in it for the social aspect ;-) Running is mental game and I still have trouble staying with it if I am alone. Yesterday, I mentored a beginning running group. There was a girl struggling with the run intervals, so I joined up with her and we got to talking. When the timer went off for the end of the last interval, she was amazed at how quickly the time seemed to have gone by.
