I've been browsing through all the past recipe threads and sprinkled within those posts are suggestions for various gadgets we might need. "Might"? Who am I kidding? Gadgets we absolutely need! lol So since I know there are a lot of us newbies here now, thanks to the enablers (looking at you Elaine, and Jenji... ) could we put all your suggestions in one thread? I'd like: -- cheesecake pans -- any racks I might need -- something that helps to take stuff out -- steamers (or whatever the pressure cooker equivalent is) -- stuff I don't know I need but I'm sure I'll need it once you tell me about it.

I bought the tongs Elaine recommended & they have been really useful.
Thanks for starting this thread. I'm in search of some pans to use with the instant pot.

GREAT thread idea!! I've ordered the tongs Elaine mentioned...just waiting on them to come in. I've been in Pinterest for a hour or so this morning looking at recipes and tips and saw where some were using the little silicone finger shields, the ones that look like miniature oven mitts, but I think I'd rather have the tongs.
I'll second the steamer basket as well, I used it when I made the meatloaf.
I have a question about cheesecake pans...the one I have has a glass bottom to it. It's a springform pan from Pampered Chef. Is it okay to use in the Insta-pot as long as it doesn't touch the sides or bottom?

Brownies?? You have my attention BF!! Would you share your recipe please ? TIA
There are a couple of dessert recipes in Great Food Fast that I want to try...particularly the Eggnog Rice Pudding. I have a chocolate bread pudding recipe for the crock pot that I want to try and covert over to a PC recipe. Both of my Crock - pots cook it too fast. I like my bread pudding to be more custardy.

They come in different sizes, and are really well made. This one will also work in my AirFryer, in addition to Instant Pot. link to my cheesecake springform pan
This one was recommended on one of the pressure cooker blogs and it works perfectly.

This is the steamer I use. My PC has a nonstick pot so I wanted a steamer that wouldn't scratch it. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A2KD8IY/I will probably start saving up my cc points for the instant pot. There's nothing wrong with my fagor but I really would prefer an inner pot that isn't nonstick and they don't offer one for the PC I have.

I was bummed that my cooker didn't come with any accessories. I just discovered my cheap rice cooker pot fits perfectly inside my pressure cooker! Finally a use for my rice cooker. Jen

Not a gadget but I vote for an extra pot! I thought why would I need that... turns out I did thanks to yogurt cooling in the refrigerator and tying it up. I found it's better to let it set overnight without disturbing. I also have a silicone lid and glass lid (using for making yogurt or as a crockpot). I like the silicone lid because it's flat so you can stack something on top of it in the refrigerator. I also have a spare gasket on hand. "Free" gadgets are metal rings from small canning jars to hold eggs when hard "boiling".

Silicone steamerDoes anyone have this? I have looked at it a couple times & haven't hit the order button. I HAD it, for use with regular pots and pans. I didn't like how it's soft, collapsible sides let food fall out upon removal from pot... I wish I'd kept it to try in Insta Pot.

Back to the top! I want to find a rack with extra tall legs, so I can cook two cheesecakes in springform pans at once.

I bought the tongs, daddio pan linked by Burning Feather, & a silicone lid. The peas should get a sales commission, lol!

Thought I would move this question here that I put up on Elaine's weekly thread:
So pans to go inside of the IP.... Besides cheesecake, what else do you use them for? Love cheesecake but trying to decide if I will really use these.
I have seen two different versions linked... Traditional 7" springform and the set of 2 stacking pressure cooker desert pans. Can anyone help me out with the pros and cons of either? Thanks!

elaine (or anyone else who has them and has used them): I did get these tongs (my boyfriend read the directions and said 'these are a joke, right?' LOL) when I bought my Instant Pot but the inner pot of the IP is curved so the tongs only 'grab' onto a tiny area of the pot. It seemed so unstable to me... you REALLY use the tongs to lift the pot + any contents all by itself?? I'm wondering if I should get a pair of 'ove gloves' or something similar... ETA: and jenjie: I know you linked the silicone set of pans from QVC in at least one thread; what do you / can you use these for in the Instant Pot?? since they're stackable, can they be used to stack / cook two different things at the same time inside the Instant Pot??

I got these silicone pinchy potholders from Amazon. I like them. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01HWV145E/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468862854&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=pinch+potholders&dpPl=1&dpID=41k1cztAjiL&ref=plSrchAs far as the qvc set - I love it. It has a steamer basket section, which I've used mostly for cut up potatoes so far. For potato salad or mashed potatoes. The solid section is good for cheesecake, brownies etc. since there is a lid and a handles, you don't have to make a sling or cover with foil. You can absolutely do stacked cooking. I've only used it for reheating so far.

I seriously use the tongs with my 8 quart inner pot filled full of chicken broth and two carcasses. It has to weigh 8-10 pounds with all that liquid. There is absolutely no issue. I use it with both pots each time I make soup. I have never had any problems. It is great because it allows you to pour the contents due to the handle. So, I can pour the steaming hot contents into a colander over my huge mixing bowl to strain the bones, etc., out of the broth. If you have any doubts, put the inner pot in the sink. Fill it 3/4 full with plain water - not hot - and then clamp the tongs on. Lift away. If something goes wrong (and it won't), all that will happen is that you'll spill some water. Nothing will get dirty or burned. Once you see that it will do fine with a pot full of water, you can trust it for other things.

I think I get the confusion you're having, because I did too at first. When you go to use the tongs, you need to approach the pot with the opening of the tongs sort of parallel to the ground, tong handles pointing down. Slip the bottom of the tong opening under the lip of the pot - THEN, without closing the tongs, bring the handles of the tongs up more parallel to the ground and the top of the tongs slides down into the pot. Then you close them and it is secure because it's gripping the wall of the pot. You can use the squarish loop to lock the handles closed. They work really well once you figure this out!

moodyblue: thank you!! Yes, that IS what we were doing wrong... I was trying to grip just the 'folded' lip of the pot, not the SIDE of the pot itself. And I was thinking "there is NO way this will work..." I will re-read your directions again tonight when I get home.

Thank you moodyblue ! Your instructions aren't as entertaining as the manufacturer's but now I'm not afraid I'll scald myself!
