I was just scrapping pages about my nephew when he was an infant, and was looking for baby boy items throughout my stash.
Pulled blue baby patterned paper. Obviously.
But also pulled turtles.
Giraffes.
Blue hippos. But not the lavender ones.
Monkeys.
Lions.
Triangles, circles, hexagons.
All those things i relate with baby boy layouts, even though I know I could use them elsewhere.
Then there's my oldest's school album. She plays flute. So it's all:
flutes (I have not found a great selection of embellies of flutes alone. I'm tired of buying an entire pack of stickers for one tiny flute sticker)
Music notes. This I can find a good variety of. Stickers, flat & puffy. I also have a tiny paper punch.
Staff paper.
Sheet music paper.
So, talk about the themes you use the most. Tell me about what shapes, colors, anything you associate with a specific theme.

I'm not a theme-y scrapper in general, but I do have a few needs - DD is a dancer, so dance stuff. Ballet shoes, tap shoes, words that say "dance" or related to stage or "shining" or "glittering"; I can use jewels (like the popular gem shapes, not actual jewels!) on these too. - pets - dogs, cats - "meow" and "bark" but not doghouses or fish bones please - camping - tents, fishing poles, canoes, fires, smores. - christmas (obviously!) stars, trees, lights, presents - birthday - presents, streamers, balloons! (gimme balloons!) - summer - suns (Oh, more suns, I'm always wanting a sun!), waves, occasional flip-flops, fish What I don't use? Telephones. Camp-vans, bears, foxes, "ocean" related items (we're lake people). Dream-catchers. Zoo animals. Kirsten

100% theme scrapper here. My sons are adults now so I get specialty theme paper made like with their college name on it, their major, etc. I cut it in strips or blocks and use it on the page.
If there is a 3D sticker for whatever theme I am probably going to use it unless it is too ugly to be rationalized.
I especially like the photo realistic paper if I can find one that will work in my theme. Am working on my England album and used several different sheets of paper with a castle photographed on it, I'm using paper with old bricks and wood and coastal papers.
If I have pictures taken at restaurants I turn to my stash of food and restaurant paper and my ribbon with silverware on it, haha! I showed some of my layouts in grammadee's challenge thread and you can see my need to tell the story with the product I use.

Love the question, LavenderLayoutLady ! I organize my scrap room around themes. Have spots for travel, school, sports, baby, family & home, "homemade", boy, girl, each of the seasons. Oh yeah, and a big collection of clocks and gears. For my little boy pages I love to use trucks and cars and arrows and circles. Use a lot of blues and browns and some oranges and greens. Navy & red. When I think of baby pages I think of teddy bears. I could never find enough, but now I have a die, and a cute KC stamp set. I also love baby zoo animals. Sports pages... Use a lot of stars. Glad I have the spellbinders nesting star dies. I keep searching for pp and embellies for hockey, baseball, football, soccer... justjac gave me a sports ball stamp and die set and some cool brads. Thinking they will get a workout when I get to scrapping my pics from last weekend. On girl pages, I tend to use butterflies and flourishes. I keep thinking I can stock up on Zva gem flourishes, but when I have them I use them up. Pinks and purples and pastels come out. I also collect music notes for the girls' dancing. And I love seasonal stuff: Christmas takes up a huge part of my scrappy storage. Have been collecting lots of ornament dies and stickers. I love snowmen for winter, frogs and umbrellas for spring, Suns and sunglasses and sand pails for summer, LEAVES for fall. Should have just said "Don't get me started"....

I'm a mix of being a theme and non-theme scrapper. What I use the most? Christmas & Beach. I love to scrap both of those and usually my photos look great with the themed paper bc they usually coordinate. I.e. we are wearing beachy summery colors at the beach I could really use some more summer/beach embellishments that aren't flat stickers. Like wood veneers, printed chipboard pieces, etc. As soon as I find good ones, I use them! I'm like grammadee with her Zva embellishments I love little boy stuff too and use a lot of it with stars, especially. And I love baby animals on baby pages! Those are mixed in with my zoo stuff too since we go to the zoo a lot!

I'm not 100% theme, but I do a lot of themed pages because I tend to be an event photographer. LOL, Even many of my non-event photos turn into events!
Christmas, Halloween and Birthday are the categories I probably buy most often, followed closely by vacation/Disney.
Christmas: gingerbread people, trees, lights, ornaments, Santa and reindeer, stockings, baking stuff.
Halloween: Used to be more traditional Halloween stuff, but now with DD being TOTing age many of my photos are of her in her costumes and they are decidedly UN-Halloweeny (Elmo, Elsa, Rainbow Dash) so I end up having to buy cartoon themed things for those pages. I still get pumpkins, Jack O'lanterns, candy, etc. especially the cuter ones.
Birthday: I buy a LOT of pink and purple birthday stuff. A lot! For the two years DD had Mickey parties, I will have to raid my Disney stash to make those pages because there were a lot of primary colors for those parties. This year was My Little Pony, and it kind of surprises me that there isn't more ready made MLP scrapping stuff!
Disney: I don't even know where to begin with this one. Paper with polka dots, especially black, red, yellow, pink. Anything Mickey or Minnie, but we also got tons of character pics with the other characters which meant I bought every giant patterned paper stack pad I could find. I don't tend to like how most of the papers are laid out though. I find them hard to use so I'll probably end up cutting out the characters and using them in different ways. I'm a sucker for packs of embellishments and stickers too, even though I typically don't use them much either. To go along with that, I end up buying tropical vacation type papers and embellishments too. I've been on a few Disney trips and a few Hawaiian trips and once to Mexico and the Caribbean, so I figure eventually I'll use it all. Palm trees, beach/ocean, cruise ships, tikis, tropical drinks, hula girls.
I agree that there needs to be more LAKE beach stuff. We're lake people too and a lot of the beach stuff I find is tropical beach, not lake beach (and there's a big difference). I need more general swimming stuff (not team swimming) such as life jackets, pool toys, goggles, jet skis / water skis, pontoon boats, fire pit / s'mores, fishing boats, fishing stuff (again, lake fishing not ocean fishing), and cabin stuff although our lake cabin isn't all that cabin-y and it isn't in the woods.

I'm a mix, too. I use a lot of Christmas themed stuff. I've bought a couple of more masculine lines to scrap my husband: Dapper Dan and This Guy. I have a fair amount of Halloween stuff, but only do 2-4 pages a year of that. I have a lot of camping stuff from 5 years ago when I was camping a lot. I'm using it up on scenery type pics from vacations. I've bought a bit of food/cooking but then used it immediately for a specific project. I buy quite a bit of family themed paper and stickers because we have a big reunion every three years. I went through a phase where I was scrapping a lot of birthdays, so I'm still using up my stash of that.
I do not have any school stuff even though I am a teacher. If I do take pics at school it usually fits another theme like Christmas etc. I have to actively resist fall paper. I love the colors, but I don't take outside pictures in the fall. I can use a bit of it with Thanksgiving. I find most summer themed paper too bright or cutesy, so I use a lot of blues or greens instead to complement the outdoor pics.

I mostly scrap my grandkids, so right now, cutesy, cutesy and more cutesy for me
I am a mix of both theme and mood scrappin...but the embellies and colors that 'speak' a theme to me...
baby..onesies, tear bears, baby animals...pastels
Spring...flowers, butterflies, birds...in pale blues, pinks, greens, yellows
Summer...mermaids, flip flops, pool stuff (no lake or beach here)...bright fun blues, oranges, greens
Fall...woodland animals, fox, owl...deeper browns, greens, golds
Winter...well, this is tough, as I live in the central valley of CA, and we don't get snow. so, scarves, hot drinks...love the blue/brown combo in winter papers
birthdays...gifts, balloons, cake in the brighter primary colors
Christmas...love 'light' embellies and trees....traditional Christmas colors, though I like papers that have pink also
