Typically, no, because usually any movie I want to see, SO wants to see as well.
But I may have to go see Ghostbusters alone. Which is fine with me.

Yes. But I am single. If I only do things when a friend is available I'd stay home a lot. Since a movie is something you watch it seems to be perfect for solo entertainment. I'm single and also do a lot of things by myself as well. I have been to a lot of movies and shows, although it's something I'm doing less of now because of the cost of movie tickets. I just wait til films are available on iTunes or Netflix. SaveSave

Yes, I see movies alone. So does my husband. It often works out easier if we go with friends or alone if it's a movie our daughter can't see.

Yes! It's one of my favorite things to do in the summer when I am off. I go during the day. I put movie gift cards on my wish list this year, and I have about $150 worth. So I think I'll be seeing a lot of movies the summer!

I've been going to the movies by myself since I was 10. Back in those days it was safe for a kid to ride her bike to the theater by herself and watch a movie alone. I grew up in Los Angeles and movies were/are what makes the world go round there.
One of my favorite guilty pleasures, that I haven't done in over a year is to go to a matinee by myself while the kids are in school.
You can totally lose yourself in a movie when you go alone in a way you can't when you are with someone else, IMO.

Yes all the time. I do most things by myself, hubby works a ton of hours and he doesn't like doing the same things I do.
Went to the movies by myself today went and saw Me Before You.
If I lived in the city I would go to the movies more often.

Yes, the last movie I saw was The Help so obviously it has been awhile. I'm just not a movie person. I love TV where I can get to know the characters over a longer period of time. I don't mind going somewhere by myself and I prefer it when shopping.
I've started doing 'me' days once a month. Last year there were many, many weeks where we (mostly my parents and husband) had 4 doctor appointments per week all on different days! It was exhausting. The only time I was going anywhere was a doctor or to the grocery store. For Christmas I bought myself a season pass to the Biltmore House. At Valentine's Day I took a cooking class. I've done something almost every month on my own and it has been wonderful.

Yes - I'm single and I travel alone for work a lot. It was weird the first time, then I realized it's actually the best / easiest thing to do alone. It's not like you should talking to somebody anyway! And it can be hard to synchronize schedules with friends in other towns, with families, etc. So if I really want to see something, I just go. I think I need to do it so I can get that first time over with I prefer to do most things by myself, or I should say, without making my family join me. Dd is 17 and has her own social life and dh works nights. So scheduling activities together can be difficult. I drive all over by myself, go to dog classes, shows, meet ups by myself because they aren't interested. I have been to the fair and rodeo by myself and hate shopping with them. I also enjoy eating alone since I love trying different places and they don't. I'm even driving the RV out of state for a week long dog show myself this fall. They are not going at all. I also drive it by myself to Oregon each year. If anything happened to dh, I would be the single woman RVing alone. So I guess I should find a movie I will enjoy this summer!

I do late morning or afternoon matinee films. And I'm rarely the only person there solo!

I haven't yet, but I would try it. I prefer to share experiences with others, though. Plus, if I get a rare moment of solitude, I'm not going to waste it at a movie theater. I'd rather read a book. Or scrapbook. Or nap with no interruptions. That sounds glorious!

No. I just don't go to movies because I can never get anyone to go with me. By the time they come out on DVD someone has ruined it for me.

I'm a big, honking introvert, and I hate doing things by myself like dining out (ew!!!!!) or seeing movies by myself, but I do it if DH really doesn't want to see the movie I want to see or if he's busy. The last one I saw by myself was "Sisters" with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. I went to see it instead of watching the Super Bowl. I was super emotionally invested in the outcome due to my overwhelming adoration of Peyton Manning and the fact that I am a huge jinx. I saw the movie, laughed my butt off, and when I got home, Peyton had won another Super Bowl ring, and all was right with my world. Therefore, I am OK with watching movies by myself.
Still do not want to have lunch at P.F. Chang's by myself.

Since I'm single, I frequently do things by myself - including movies. No discussion about what movie to see, no extra conversations, all the popcorn for me. We also have two old theaters that show some wonderful old movies (although the last few years their choices have not been mine), but it is a wonderful experience!
What did you think of Citizen Kane? One of my favorites - and I saw it last at the theater here; its quite an experience on the big screen.

Yes. I was single a long time before I got married and I did lots of things by myself: movies, concerts, eating out, traveling. I haven't actually gone to a movie by myself for a while, but then WE haven't actually gone to a movie together in a long while either.
Going to a movie alone is one of the easier things to do by yourself.

No. I just don't go to movies because I can never get anyone to go with me. By the time they come out on DVD someone has ruined it for me. Which is precisely why I do go to movies alone. If I wait until I have a companion to go with me it has been spoiled. So if I want to enjoy it with all the surprise twists I go alone. No reason to deprive myself of that fun. In the cooler months just toss a jacket across the chair back next to you, like your companion is still in line for popcorn and enjoy yourself.

Yes and I love it. Sometimes j just want to go see a movie right that minute so I do. A lot of the time if a movie I'm really really excited for and none of my friends share that excitement then I'd rather go alone and geek out.

My husband always does! He loves it. He goes after the movie has been out a couple weeks and goes early on the weekend (11:00) so not many are in the theater. I fall asleep at the movies, and don't like action/adventure movies, so it would be wasting money for me to go to. He always sees people there by themselves.

I go by myself all the time and it's awesome.
I reviewed movies for the school paper in high school, and I had to go once by myself and I was mortified. As soon as the movie started, it was totally fine, and my fear of going solo evaporated.
When I was single, I taught year-round, so I was able to go see everything in my off-track time. My husband doesn't really like to go, and I LOVE the movies.

I have always gone to the movies by myself. In college, I would do 2 or 3 $2 matinees in an afternoon. Now I'm married, most of the movies I see are with DH and DS, but if there's a movie on that is of no interest to them, such as the new Whit Stillman adaptation of the Jane Austen story, Love & Friendship, I'll go by myself.

I would but I've never had the desire to drive an hour into the city to go to a movie that bad. But I do eat out in restaurants all the time when I'm in the city doing by shopping.
