I was just sent a link to this page. It is truly breaking my heart. I pasted the story below and added the link so you can check out the original post too. Can we generate some peapower and help make her 19th birthday a memorable one? Most of us have scrapbook supplies to access to make up a card for this young girl. I would love to read a followup post by her cousin that she received a ton of well wishes on her birthday to help make up for all the other birthdays that no one showed up for her. The cousin put the address at the bottom of this pasted post. Who's with me here on trying to bring a smile to Hallee's face? ------------------ Lyn then described the scene in the photo: Hallee sitting at her 18th birthday party last year, eating birthday cake all by herself. “Hallee sat at her party anxiously waiting for her friends to arrive so they could have fun….but Hallee’s friends would never arrive. Not a single one,” Rebecca said. She says invitations were sent out to classmates and other friends in the area — but no one showed up. Rebecca says Hallee was heartbroken, hurt and beyond sad. But now, with Hallee’s 19th birthday coming up in July, Rebecca wants it to be extra special. She has asked everyone to help make Hallee’s birthday memorable and send her a birthday card. “Hal loves getting mail- this would be the best birthday gift she could ask for. If you could find it in your heart to take a few mins out of your day and send her a card, I would be forever greatful,” Rebecca wrote. If you would like to send Hallee a birthday card, you can mail it to: Hallee Sorenson 34 Wellesley Way Bangor, ME 04401 fox5sandiego.com/2016/06/10/heartbreaking-photo-of-teen-sitting-alone-at-her-birthday-party-goes-viral/SaveSave

I think it has already happened. I saw an update where she had the best birthday ever because of all the cards she received.
ETA: I can't find the update so perhaps I read that she was *going* to have the best birthday ever not that she had the best birthday ever.
I also wish the family had used a PO Box instead of giving their real address which is now all over the Internet.

Really? It said her birthday is in July. Was it LAST July and I'm an idiot? Well, if that is the case, at least she got a happy birthday. I think I will go ahead and send her a card for this birthday anyway. Can't hurt, right?

It seems like there has been several of these go through my news feed lately. So a different one may have passed already.

I do wish social media did a better job of date stamping stuff. "Tuesday" doesn't define which Tuesday in which year.
June 7, 2016 11:43 am EST is more precise for any future audience.

quiltz, growing up, my mom always told me it was never wrong to be nice/kind to someone. She said there is rarely a human being alive who doesn't benefit from some kindness in their lives. And if they don't, well then you (meaning me) benefitted from giving it. I watched her go out of her way to make a plate of cookies for someone or purchase some groceries and have one of us take them to someone in need. She was always doing something kind for someone and it just comes naturally to me from watching her all these years. I looked at the site again, and I would say that her birthday coming up in July of this year is the one where our cards are requested. It is such a little thing to do that will hopefully show Hallee that people see her and care about her. Anyone else thinking of making a card?

Anyone else thinking of making a card? My daughter saw the story and it was her idea to send one! She and her brother have Autism, so I understand.

I think it was a photo of her at her birthday last year in July and her cousin is trying to get as many cards as possible this year before her birthday so it's the *best* ever. I'll have to ask my daughter. She can remember things like this, but not where she put her shoes!

I linked this story to the post about end of school birthdays. I am hoping to have time to send a card. The article said the birthday is this July and a cousin originally just sent it to a few friends and family, but it unintentionally went viral, that's why it has their real address. My heart broke for this girl and so many in the comments of the article I read that said it happened to them too.

I put a card in the mail yesterday. I also shared it on Facebook and sent it to all of my employees in an email at work, challenging them to do this random act of kindness.

I have actually witnessed this IRL. We had 80 kids for a trip. A local girl had her 16, no one came. My group of 80 kids packed up her stuff, brought it to our conference room and included her I everything! All the boys fought to dance with her. The girls all made sure someone was by her side. It has been five years and I still tear up at the memory.
