Are you watching alone or with friends?
I really like this award show as there are so many scenes from the many plays?
FYI: I heard on the radio yesterday that Mirvish productions are trying to solidify plans for a "Hamilton" show/production maybe coming to Toronto. Fingers crossed that this will happen.

We are having my MIL's birthday dinner tonight so I will be DVRing it and staying off Social Media since it's not live on the West Coast. Once I can get everyone out of the house I will watch it by myself. My family doesn't get my love for the theater.

I'm hoping to watch the livestream so I don't have to stay up late tonight. If I can't, I guess I'll get off the internet at 5:00 and watch the West Coast feed when it comes on.

Well I'm out. Very boring so far, plus it looks like a clean sweap for Hamilton. I'm not a fan of the musical, so I'm done.

I haven't watched the Tonys since I don't know when, but I have it on tonight and am really enjoying it. That opening number James Corden did was so much fun.

I am loving it! We saw Hamilton in April and I'm rooting for it to win everything. I loved your pictures. My husband and I went in May, and got tickets for our 10 and 13-year-olds for next (gulp) April. By then, I am sure most of the cast (in addition to those who have announced) will be gone, but I still think it will be worth it. We're hosting teen theater geeks here. Huzzah!

So, I have to ask- do you all see enough plays to really have a stake in what happens at the Tonys? I'm not being snarky, I just don't know anyone who watches the Tonys and you guys are really into them.

So, I have to ask- do you all see enough plays to really have a stake in what happens at the Tonys? I'm not being snarky, I just don't know anyone who watches the Tonys and you guys are really into them. Honestly I have not seen any of the plays or musicals, but I love theatre and follow it closely.. I have seen (even before last night) clips of every musical nominated as well as read many reviews, and listened to most of the cast recordings. I have read reviews of most of the plays.. so I predicted correctly who was going to win all of the "big" awards . Though I shocked our crowd by saying I wanted Chris Jackson to win not Daveed Diggs... I think a lot of people who go to live theatre used "Tony Award Winner" as a way to help them determine which shows to see. We love musical theatre, all theatre in our house and we love watching the Tony's to get a glimpse of what we won't be able to see on Broadway. We are lucky to have tickets to Hamilton and we are looking for another show to get tickets to when we go... right now it is a tie between Waitress, Bright Star(which is set in our beloved Asheville) or Color Purple or Fiddler on the Roof. We narrowed it down a lot! If you had been outside the house we were watching in, you might have thought we were watching the Super Bowl or World Cup. Lots of cheering, clapping.. but no singing. Except during commercials.. where the kids sang almost the entire cast recording of Hamilton

I love musical theater and enjoy watching talent I'm not fortunate enough to see. I do try to get to productions when they make a stop in Mpls. I've been to NYC once and saw Wicked while I was there. I'm jealous of anyone who can make a day trip to see a Broadway production. If I could do that I'd see everything.

Awesome show! Surprised that "Hamilton" didn't break the record for Tony awards though.....but I'm sorry, after seeing Cynthia Erivo perform last night, she totally deserved that Tony and I knew Hamilton was going to lose that one....holy moly, is she good!

I love Renee Elise Goldsberry and was happy to see her win. She's done a lot outside of theater, but I know her from when she was once on OLTL!!
