I'm going to Italy in October and am looking for a lightweight crossbody bag to carry while sightseeing. Ideally it would hold my camera, a water bottle, mini umbrella, sunglasses, wallet, and a small book or maybe an iPad mini. I've been looking at the eBags Piazza Day Bag and Baggalini Criss Crossbody - I'm currently leaning towards the Piazza. Does anyone own one of these bags, or have a recommendation for a different bag that you like?

I have a Keen purse that's great for travel -- Brooklyn II. It was awesome for WDW, and I actually use it a lot for everyday because it holds a ton but "deflates" well when you don't need it to. And, when it gets nasty from use, I've just thrown it in the washing machine and it was totally fine. The strap is like slick-ish seatbelt webbing, so it moves smoothly (doesn't grab your shirt when you move), and there's a lot of strap there, so it's plenty long for a comfortably loose cross-body even on a plus-size body, or it can be as short as a shoulder bag. I've been 100% happy with it and am sorely tempted to buy every color they make!

www.containerstore.com/shop/travel/totesBags?productId=10027426&N=255I used this one on a trip to Israel. It was perfect because it's pretty flat even when it's got stuff in it. It held everything except my camera because I wanted the camera in my hand/around my neck for quick access. This bag has a large pocket in front plus some smaller ones on the outside in front. Then it has one in the back that's up against your body for safe keeping. I loved this bag much more than a backpack because if you're wearing it on your back your can just slide it around to the front, rather than having to take it off like you would a backpack. Also it's comfortable and not in the way if you do wear it in front (like if you're in a crowd and want to guard against pickpockets).

I have this one: Baggalini Messenger Bag. It's been on 3 Disney trips (with me - a couple more with friends) and lots of day trips. It's comfortable, holds a lot and my DH will carry it too because it doesn't really look like a ladies' purse. It's comfortable when worn cross body or carried over my shoulder. I have it in the water resistant fabric and it's held up great!

I used that exact eBag on my last trip to Europe. I loved it...except that the edges of the strap really abraded my skin on my collarbone and shoulder because it was summer and I had scooped tops on. I think if you are wearing clothing that will cover the collarbone and shoulder area, it would work.

I always use a Kipling cross body bag because they are lightweight, roomy and made for travelling......and come in several sizes. Not sure if they are easily available in the US but I love them!

Disclaimer I'm a Thirty-one consultant - I adore the crossbody explorista. It's my new Disney and weekend bag.

I've had a Calvin Klein cross body bag for about 10 years. That thing has been all over the world and in some fairly rugged / dirty situations, and it's still almost like new. It's nylon but doesn't look 'cheap' IYKWIM, has room for everything, is super light and can be folded down to next to nothing in my luggage. I googled but of course the one I have is no longer available, but CK does have quite a few options. The one closest to mine is here Mine has 2 outside pockets and 3 separate interior sections, but it looks like the one on the link is made from the same material. I know it's not cheap but I swear it'll hold up for years.

Does anyone own one of these bags, or have a recommendation for a different bag that you like? Why is the mannequin in that first link (the Piazza) wearing a bra? Is that weird to anybody else? Are they trying to show you where the strap is in relation to your bra straps?

I also have the Baggalini bag that was linked. I have used it on 6 Disney trips, a trip to Costa Rica, and a month long trip my family took to drive Route 66 and it has held up great. It still is in good shape and I will be using it again for a Disney trip in a couple of weeks.

Paperaddict OP, I've had best luck with bags like the bagellini cross cross you linked because it can hang straight at your side or be a cross body. The ones with decidedly cross body strap have been awkward when I've worn certain tanks or dresses.
I forgot who posted the Keen messenger bag- that's what I need for mega work laptop. I can't tell from description, does largest open space zip close? I've had great luck with Keen shoes but never bought a bag. I like the thick strap.
Have a fun trip OP!

Thanks for the recommendations everyone! I'm going to check them all out now.

Lug Cross-Body BagsDepending upon the size of your camera, I would highly recommend a LUG. I used the Lug Skipper during our trip to China last December - when I wanted to wear my DSLR around my neck/body. I have several other lug bags including my work notebook bag which has held up beautifully and I always get compliments on. Good luck!

If you have a DSLR the piazza day bag is pretty tight. I like the Overland Equipment Donner bag. Not to big, but everything fit well.

My camera is a point & shoot (Canon PowerShot G16) - not super small, but smaller than a DSLR. I'll check out the Lug and Overland Equipment bags. Thanks again for all of the great suggestions

I used a cross body bag that I bought from Kohl's. It was leather and had an outside pocket that wasn't zipped, which was perfect to slip maps and my metro pass in. Unfortunately, the zipper came unstitched and I returned it as soon as I got back. I bought a Vera Bradley Hipster, which I like for shopping. But it's smaller than the Kohl's bag and I would get something different for sightseeing.
I would definitely look for that outside pocket to keep maps in. I had a water bottle, my wallet, my small point and shoot, and a reusable bag that I carried. I was surprised at how much I used the foldable reusable bag--almost every day. I started with my Target reusable bag, but then switched to a Monoprix bag--just because I love that store!

Look at the travelon or baggallini brands for bags like you are describing...
