I will never own a canon 24-70L so I am looking to rent that baby. I want a faster lens eventually but it will never cost 2k bc I am not a professional.

Yes, I have rented lenses a few times. I've used BorrowLenses, a local shop and LensProToGo. I used to rent a 7-200 2.8, but now I own one. Nikon refurb.

I have rented a specialty lens for a vacation before. Did look at some of the online companies that do that, but it turned out there was a local company just a couple of miles from my home that rents camera equipment. It was easy to do and I would do it again. In the end, I was glad I rented that particular lens because I had seriously considered purchasing it. After that trip, I realized the lens was way too heavy for what I would use it for, so renting saved me a lot of money in the long run.

I've rented lenses for years. Used to do it locally in Washington DC but that camera shop shut down. Now I do it through the mail-it's super easy this way, much easier actually I think because it comes right to your door. I use www.lensrentals.com I've had great experience through them. Have fun. It's a great way to try out a new lens before you buy it or a different camera too. Debbie in MD.

Yes, several times. I like borrowlenses.com, lensrentals.com, and lensprotogo.com They all have excellent customer service and good coupon available if you look around online.

Yes, good lenses can be heavy and unwieldy. My 70-200 IS2.8L is a beast. But I love the images I get from it.
I'd like to try a fast wide lens. I have the 28-40L, but it only opens to 4.0. I end up using the 50 1.4, which is a great lens but not as wide as I'd like sometime.
I've loaned lenses to family and friends. I used to shoot professionally, and just can't bring myself to let go of my favorite lenses.

Renting is the best way for a hobbyist to get a chance to use expensive high end lenses. LensProTo Go is also where I rent from. Great customer service!

Thanks, Ladies! I went with lens pro to go. It was cheaper than borrow lens as I found a coupon code! Super excited to take pics (as a guest ) at a family wedding this weekend.

Another little hint with these companies is to watch for resales. I've bought used lenses in excellent condition, such as an 85mm 1.8. I think the only lens I've bought new was the 50 mm 1.8 and, truth be told, I rarely use it at all.
