the last time we went to Orlando as a family it was with the threat of Sandy looming off the coast, and we had relatives and friends worried for our safety.
Guess where we are vacationing this week?
I received a message this morning (after a link about the gator incident) from a friend who will be glad when we are home. Even though the likelihood of us being at any club is minuscule, we got texts from family and friends wanting to make sure we were okay.
We seem to have some luck when it comes to our vacations here.
If there could be no more excitement this week, other than the kinds offered in the parks, that would be great.

I hope this is the end of any tragedy in Orlando for the rest of your visit (and for a good long while...though, Mother Nature, if you are listening, when you direct the hurricane to avoid Florida at my request, kindly send it back into the ocean to fizzle rather than into the Gulf).

We literally were at WDW right after September 11th and honestly, none of the incidents that have happened in Orlando were really that specific to Orlando. Whether it's any consolation or not, I think (1) WDW is very well secured and prepared and (2) these incidents could have happened anywhere and (3) none of these events are related to each other in any way except location. I honestly wouldn't hesitate to go to Orlando right now or be scared if I were there.

I think you would have to be pretty unlucky to be involved in another incident as what occurred Sunday, or for that matter at WDW.
It was reported here today that the shooting at the night club was just one of 43 shootings reported in America on that same day so it is hard for me to fathom that degree of violence on such a regular occurrence. I am in Australia and while there are shootings here it is few and far between in relation to the figures there.
I hope you enjoy your holiday and return home safely with lots of good memories.

We were there at wdw when the shooting occurred. We flew home the day of the alligator attack. Our trip started with a tropical storm passing through. The trip turned out fine on all counts! I wouldn't stress about it .

I wouldn't worry. I went to Africa, Tanzania and Kenya, when the ebola crisis was going on. I got calls and text and I'll kinds of messages from people who wanted to warn me that I was dangerous to go there. Heck! My friends in Ohio were closer to Ebola than I ever was !

Funny, the last two times we have gone to Florida, it has been great for us, but the next week the weather or something changes.
Four years ago, it rained all week the week before we arrived, was beautiful for out week, and then the Tampa area flooded the next week.
This year, we flew into Florida on May 26th and left June 6th before the rain from the tropical storm started.
