Thanks, Lucy! It's a blur effect from Photoshop. I happened to catch DD looking up at just the right moment.

Congratulations! Really neat photo! FYI for all you new empty-nesters: Soon after DD#2 went off to college, I stopped by Joann's for some burlap and the cutting table lady was quite chatty. I happened to mention that my youngest DD was now away at college, and she went on and on about how great it was when her last child left the nest. As in, she and her DH had more "alone time" without kids being there. Like a second honeymoon, she said. I don't recall what I said in response, I will say that she was pretty correct. Now it's four years later- DD#2 just got married last month and DD#1 graduated from grad school last week. And now she's home. And I'm already missing the privacy DH and I had when both kids were gone.

Mine graduated the other day. He has, since then, been a man with a mission-a mission to have as much fun as possible with his friends before he leaves for college (where, I should point out most of his friends are going too so they will be apart for about 15 minutes. ) Anyway. Here is my empty nest observation of the day. I will miss having a built in yard boy. I was going to have to mow the yard myself when he said he was coming over to do it for me. I don't like mowing.

Congrat's! Really cool picture.
My 22 year old DD moved out in Jan. None of us really liked it, but the savings on dorm/apartment costs were huge, so we all put up with each other.
DH & I are loving it. It's been nice to be us again, not Mom & Dad.

Cool photo -- I love it. I, too am a soon-to-be-empty nester. I'm currently loading him down with repair projects of things that are heavy so I don't have to do it after he leaves. Not only is he leaving for college mid-August, but he's going to be gone for the entire month of July. I only have a few short weeks with him this summer.

My 19 year old is going to college and living at home right now. My 17 year old is adamant about moving out as soon as she can and wants to go away to college next year. It makes me sad. I like that they are more independent right now and it makes me feel better when I know they are home sleeping in their beds.
I want them to move out but I really don't.

We told both of ours that freshman year they needed to live in the dorms. They did; they're back. It is cheaper now, but I did enjoy fewer people asking when dinner was. I cook about three times a week and the other days they send for themselves.

Wow, that is a very cool photo!! My ds graduated last year. Went to school out of state for four months. Home for 2. Now is fishing for 3 months. I am fine with empty nest, dh not so much. I want to move all his stuff out and clean!! declutter!! I am actually ready for the next stage where we can go and do things without needing to be available for someone and have a clean house
