I am so sick of looking at his face and hearing his "me me me" spiel. I'm going into hibernation for the next five months. (Sorry, everyone, I'm not really.)

Douche canoe, indeed. But the 10.2 million figure given includes non-Muslim visitors as well, no?

I'm sure barring all those tourist and business dollars will do WONDERS for our economy. Wonders, I tell you.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why he had to keep declaring bankruptcy. The man has the business sense of a rock.

And how do you even determine that? People entering on tourist visas or, in the case of some countries, visa waivers have to declare what religion they practice? How is that proved? It's not part of any passport application process, as far as I know.
Wow...

Wow... I was just going to post this. So what happens if somebody says they are not Muslim - do they get investigated to be sure they aren't Muslim, even if from one of these countries? And what about Muslims from other countries that aren't on that list? Who's going to pay for all this extensive investigation to ensure somebody is Muslim or not? And when do we get to start on Muslims that are US Citizens?

I'm confused, the very first sentence of the CNN article is: Donald Trump said Monday that if elected he would "suspend immigration from areas of the world when there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe or our allies, until we understand how to end these threats."
The "article" then goes on to talk about tourist visas - those are visitors, not immigrants.

^^^ thank you, Darcy-- I am no Donald Trump fan, but I was confused about that as well-- the article graphics aren't really showing what Donald Trump actually said; they're painting with a much broader brush.
I did hear a story on the NPR Marketplace Money Report (yesterday, maybe?) that if the ban was Muslim immigrants (student visas, etc.) from only a certain few countries, the potential cost (in $$ lost) could truly be in the tens of billions range.

And when do we get to start on Muslims that are US Citizens? Why we're going to interrogate & rely on other citizens to let us know they are Muslim. Then we'll give them a nice little tattoo on their arm so we can identify them easily as other. It's worked so well in the past, I'm sure it will work just great again.

So what does that mean if I want to visit the US? I don't cover myself because I don't believe it's necessary, but will he be checking people's religious affiliations at the airport?
Most people I know don't know I am a Muslim and unless they need to know they obviously know.
Can he stop me from getting in even though I am just visiting Hawaii?

I would like to also see addressed who be exempt from this-there is no way that we be able to effectively engage in foreign affairs if we bar ambassadors, their professional staff and various others employees? Seems like an ignorant question, I know. But if we are going to stop immigration-or tourists-or visitors-or students, then where does it stop? Do we stop Russians because they are supplying arms to the opposition in Syria? The Chinese for tacitly supporting North Korea (who may not have actually overtly attacked us, but you know those pesky rumors about computer hacking-and hell, include the Chinese in that too.) I mean, the comment said that he would stop people from countries that support terrorism against the US, their friends and our allies. Or does that only mean those pesky Muslims?? (that was sarcasm by the way.)

anxiousmom , I agree; it sounded like a lot of his comments-- very vague, and not well thought out-- because if he HAD thought about it, he'd realize all those things are issues that would need to be addressed... and then it probably wouldn't really be possible to implement in any way, shape, or form. (but if it had been well-thought out, then it wouldn't have fit into a nice, neat little 15-second sound bite, now, would it?? )

The man has the business sense of a rock. Noooo, you've gotten it all wrong. It's not the business sense of a rock. It's the business sense of a brilliant businessman. He's won awards because of his fantastic business sense. I know, because he told me. Our economy is going to be the best it's ever been. It's going to be fabulous. If you think that good businessmen pay their bills you're crazy - crazy, I tell you. No great businessman ever pays his bills. We don't have to worry about the economy because he says we don't have to. It's going to be fabulous.

When I think of how hard President Bush worked to make sure Muslims weren't persecuted after 9-11, & this jack hole comes along & wants to blow that to hell, ugh.

I seriously hope that this is all just a virtual reality simulation (like Elon Musk talked about in an interview recently) and someone will hit reset real soon.
