On the plus side, they are recording the stage version with the original cast before his departure. There are no immediate plans for it to be released or anything like that, but it will exist for some future purpose/release.

So happy to have seen it last week with LMM in it. However, I also cannot wait to see it with a completely different cast someday. We saw an understudy for Eliza who was truly fabulous. Peggy/Maria was also an understudy. Her portrayal of Maria began with an air of innocence that you just do not hear on the cast recording. Dd and I really enjoyed her interpretation. It's a subtle thing, but it made it so that if you did not know the story, you would not expect what happens a few lines of song later.
I also think from some hints on twitter that he will be playing this role longer than most think... that he will pop back in here and there in the future, whether on Broadway or another location.

Yeah, the ticket prices are insane! We saw it with him in May, and he was awesome, but all reports are that Javier is awesome and maybe even awesome-er, so hopefully people who are seeing it later will still get a great show. We have tickets for next April to take my Hamilton-freak older kids (who weren't into the show when we started this journey last fall), and I doubt much of the original cast will be around by then, but I still think it's going to be a great experience (it isn't here in Seattle until 2018!).

I haven't seen it yet, but I think it's generally accepted that he's one of the weaker performers (in an outstanding cast, so he's still great) but it's HIS, so people (myself included) really really want to see him. I have no doubt Javier will be great - in fact, my friend who has seen it twice, once with LMM and once with Javier, said Javier is definitely better.

I just tried to look up the Seattle info earlier today. I got interrupted before I found when it would be here in Seattle. DS told me last week he wants to see it so I will let him know he is in for a bit of a wait.

I already have season tickets for the Pantages to see it in 2017. I had no hope of seeing it with LMM anyway, but I'm excited to see it someday! Lucky you, Merge, to have tickets just in time.

I called for tickets here in Chicago to get a group rate and the groups were all taken already. I'm sure they were snatched up by scalpers. My dd worked for BIC and won't call any former co-workers to even see if they could get us tickets. She said she was sure they were getting many requests from friends and family and didn't want to bother them.

Expected this but still disappointed not to see LMM. Just hoping I'll be able to get tickets in Chicago for date when all 4 of us are in town.

I saw it with LMM in January and his voice is not as good as the others, but he has a fantastic energy and exuberance.
However, this is one of those shows that will be outstanding no matter the cast. I understand people wanting to see him, but I don't think anybody who sees this show will be disappointed.

I called for tickets here in Chicago to get a group rate and the groups were all taken already. Are you going to try for tickets when they go on sale to the general public for Chicago next week? I have it on my calendar for dd who will roadtrip there from Ohio, if we can manage to snag some tickets. The folks in front of us in line to get in last week actually had tickets for July 8 but sold them long before! I still regret not buying more than 2 when I bought mine. I could have picked up a few more at that time, but thought I was already spending so much at $100 each. ROFLOL. Could have easily made enough to cover that and more.

I have a feeling I won't get them. I need 8 tickets (dh, me, 3 kids and their significant others) and I need to see what the limit is and I don't want to spend more than $150 each. I know that they are going to be higher for around the holidays. Just kills me that I missed the group tickets. I totally could have sold them to friends, etc. DD is pretty sure it will be in Chicago for at least 2 years, so she told me to hold off and can get them later, when the next group of tickets become available. After seeing how crazy it still is in NYC, I'm not sure waiting will help.

They're already telling people there that Des Moines is a crap shoot unless you've been a season ticket holder forever. Chicago has already said they have an open ended contract. We plan to wait until it settles a bit and get tickets then. I wouldn't stress about it too much if you don't get tickets now.

I just hope Daveed Diggs and Renee Elise Goldsberry are still in it!! We also have season tickets for Charlotte so we will get first crack when it is there in 2017-2018. (I momentarily thought about trying for tickets for Chicago.. but ya know.. enough)

We have a friend studying MT at University of Michigan... they had connections and there were like 30 of them all trying to get tickets the minute they went on sale.. with no luck. I wonder if they went to scalpers. I think with three touring companies and LMM stepping down there will be greater availability.

I have season tickets to the Des Moines Performing Arts Center this season and will be able to renew for the 2017/2018 season, so I'll be seeing it Fall of 2017, but this season is awesome also..."Rent", "Beautiful; The Carole King Musical", "Fun Home", "An American In Paris" and the play "Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Nighttime" and for what I paid for our season tickets, it equals out to about $65 bucks a show. I also picked a Sunday night to see the performances...it wasn't important to us to get a Friday or Saturday night ticket which I'm sure were more expensive and we got better seats for our money. Sometimes its pays to live in a smaller city with an awesome Performing Arts Center.

WOW! @iowa57girl, that is an amazing season! You are right about smaller cities. Dd moved to Columbus this year and we were amazed at how easy it was to get Book of Mormon tickets. Note to self: consider retiring to Iowa!
DD will only be in Ohio for another year and she has already seen Hamilton, so it's not a huge deal if she doesn't get tickets but will try anyway.

I haven't seen an announcement of when she is leaving Hamilton, but it was announced today that Philippa Soo is going to be the lead in a musical version of Amelie in 2017, so she will be departing sooner than later too.
Obviously, the roles in Hamilton are going to be incredibly sought after and only the very best performers will get the roles, so it will continue to be an excellent production, but... I'm still bummed. I knew it would probably happen before I got to see the show, but that doesn't make it less disappointing. I haven't been a big theater fan in the past, but the cast album of Hamilton grabbed me the first time I listened to it and hasn't let go. Ditto the cast, from what I've seen on social media, in interviews, on Ham4Ham, etc. I just adore it and so wish I could have seen the original cast.
I'll even admit I made a donation to the Hispanic Foundation purely to have the tiniest of chances to win tickets to the 7/9 show!

The director of our Performing Arts Center is excellent at investing in shows on Broadway and has developed an outstanding reputation in NYC, so although we are much smaller than the cities that you would typically see get the touring shows first, we seem to always be in that first touring season and "Hamilton" was no exception. I'm so excited and since DH could give two figs about that musical so my extra ticket is going to be in HIGH demand among my friends.

Boo. We have tickets for July 27 that we bought in January, having no idea he could be leaving. I'm so bugged that we didn't go the first week of July, which we could have done. Sigh. I'm hoping the rest of the cast is still intact at that point.

Phillipa Soo, who plays Eliza, will also be leaving. Have not fear though. We thoroughly enjoyed the understudy in that role and dd says she preferred the understudy's portrayal in some scenes in comparison to the soundtrack. I also much preferred the understudy who did Peggy and Maria to the soundtrack version. You won't miss out on anything with some of the cast leaving. It's pretty typical for cast members to leave at the one year mark because of the standard contracts. You will still love it just as much, if not more!
