My how things change between computer purchases, lol.
So now there is a key card....it seems you can buy this for the code to download it. It appears that you could buy the download by just going to download it? Haven't looked into it that far, but why the card with key code if you could just download from Microsoft by using a credit card?
I swore that I heard they were moving towards buying a subscription so to speak where once you bought and registered it was yours to your name or email or something, not so much that there was one download available. By this I mean I could log into my account on maybe my PC or tablet because i'd bought the subscription.... Is this all in my head?
Need office for my class so just looking into updating now for a new computer...

I have Microsoft Office 10 on my computer. We only had one more computer that we could load it on and we picked mine. DH uses the free Open Office that is very similar to MS Office. There are other free programs available. Don't know if you need all the bells and whistles that MS offers. To my understanding you can now *rent* the program where you pay a yearly fee if you don't want to buy it outright. I think it is called Microsoft Office360. Not sure I answered your question.

My new computer has office loaded. You activate it and use it free for a month and then you can pay to have it permanently. I don't know why you would buy a key card.
