We are going on vacation next week and my DD and I are looking for a *can't put it down* book to read. It seems like we have read all the books all of the must reads of the last few years.
While we aren't necessarily looking for romance novels, we have liked some of the chick-lit we have read. I have been checking out the reading thread every week and haven't come across what we are looking for that we haven't read.
Does anyone have any ideas? TIA

Elin Hilderbrand writes summer/beach themed chick type stories. I always like to grab one or two when I am going on vacation.

I like a good Alex Cross novel by James Patterson or a memoir.

I enjoyed ''Someday, Someday, Maybe: A Novel'' by Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore).

Love John Grisham. Rogue Lawyer was great. Also the Rainmaker by him.

I'm reading A Desperate Fortune by Susanna Kearsley and I've been totally sucked into the story. I've actually been reading most of the day today because I haven't wanted to put it down. I'm at 89%, and really want to know how it ends. I also read The Winter Sea and The Firebird by her, and loved both of those as well. I have a couple others of hers on my library holds list and will download and read them as soon as they're available.

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell? Loved this fun book and wish I could find another like it for my next vacation read.

I am finishing up Alex Cross's Trial by James Patterson & Richard Dilallo. I am thoroughly enjoying it. The chapters are very short, so it is no big deal to pick it up and read a few pages in a small snippet of time. You aren't having to backtrack to revive the flow. It has 380 pages and 140 chapters. This is my first James Patterson, so I don't know if it is his usual style.

I highly recommend anything by Marian Keyes if you haven't already read any of her novels. They are totally *can't put it down* chick-lit and are perfect for vacation reading.

I loved The Island and Covet by Tracey Garvis Grave! I'll have to check that one out. Thanks! I saw it recommended here a few years ago. But many didn't like it (you will understand when you read what it is about).

The Nightingale was fantastic - easily the best book that I read last year.
A Little Life is the best book that I have read this year. It's long, too. But the subject has serious triggers.
I also loved A Man Called Ove.
A rather obscure book that is quite sweet: We Are Called to Rise by Laura McBride.
My favorite recent psychological thriller was The Good Girl by Mary Kubica.

Any Stuart Woods, especially the older ones (they are longer), most of Janes Patterson, if you like revenge types the Fern Michaels has the Sisterhood Series (and now men if the sisterhood)...
