I called apple last week. I asked how to save old texts to iCloud. There are a lot of texts on dh phone I want to save before wiping the phone and turning off service. I have a MacBook. I thought I could just transfer the texts to the laptop.
She said if you save to iCloud the only way to access them again is to upload them to a phone. Her recommendation to me was to take screen shots. Not what I wanted to hear.

I had to do screenshots. numerous, fragmented screenshots. I can't believe no one has come up with an app for this. we have apps for even the dumbest things but not for this. acck.

My desktop has the application Messages on it. When I get a text, the program opens automatically. It looks just like my phone's screen when I have the same app open on it.
To save my texts, I go as far back as I want to save, then I select the Print option available under the File tab at the top of the page. Once the print window opens, I select the PDF option at the bottom of the window. This option saves any photos as well as the texts. As I said above, it only goes back as far as I have opened and viewed recently. To make it go back further, I just scroll to the top of the page and wait for it to open the earlier texts.
Because DH and I use texts to mark when he arrives and leaves clients' sites, I do this weekly and it works great for us.

Has anyone used copytrans? I've used it and it was very simple and did everything it was supposed to. It was a couple of years ago, though, so the program may have changed since then.

Anyone know if this works with older Macs as well? I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro and the 'continuity' options don't work. Guess I'll have to check when I get home.

I use IFTTT and it sends a copy of every text to google drive.
IFTTT also works with iphones, you just select a recipe and program it how you would like.

I want simple and easy and it sounds like it will save texts in such a way they are easy to find and not some random coded title.

I don't remember what I used and it was on my old PC that died, so I can't check. But I know I just googled saving iPhone text messages and that's how I found the site or software I used. It was easy and worked fine.

I purchased Copytrans the bundle of 4 and it is extremely easy to use. I've copied texts and photos over to my pc from my iphone. I haven't tried any music yet.
