If Bernie does not suspend his campaign or reject Secret Service coverage I figured he is wasting a bit over $1M in tax payer dollars. I would have expected something like this from Cruz but had expected better from Bernie. Now he is letting his ego make his decisions.

I know!! for pete's sake, Bernie, what are you waiting for? hoping Hillary gets indicted so you can step in? hoping you can capture the super delegates and somehow get the nomination? do you think you inspired a movement and you don't want to see that go to waste? why won't you just suspend so we can move on to the general election?

Bernie not caring about spending taxpayer's money? Shocking. Typical Democrat. And with that comment, let's see if we can make it to at least 3 pages!

Yeah Bernie...it's her turn. (Don't mind the above too much, just choking on that bitter pill and all)

Bernie has the right to end his campaign when he sees fit to end it. Hillary winning the Democratic Presidential election isn't a forgone conclusion. She's not there yet. Officially. He's running his campaign the best way he thinks he should. Just because you think he should concede now doesn't mean he has to. I admire him for what he is trying to accomplish and I'm still behind him.

I don't think so, I think Bernie wants a guarantee that she will push through some of the programs he's been promising.

I think he's holding out to see if she gets indicted. And I wouldn't be surprised if the DNC is backing him on that, under the table-like. Imagine if he pulls out of the race and then she ends up with charges brought against her. They're better off hedging their bets by keeping Bernie stringing along.

I have no doubt Sanders is hanging in there with hopes Hillary is indicted.
However I'm pretty sure there is no backroom agreement with the DNC. He has made no friends at the DNC and I see he has made the the Congressional Black Caucus unhappy about his efforts to eliminate Superdelegates and have all primaries be open. From what Rachel Maddow said tonight that is a kind of a big deal.
My guess is that if Hillary is hauled off in handcuffs the DNC will try and draft Biden. Remember ,even with the threat of the email scandal, more Democrats voted for Hillary than Sanders. I know if they drafted Biden to replace Hillary I wouldn't have a problem with it. Biden is pretty popular with the Democrats. I think if he had run he would have beaten Hillary and I think Sanders would have been a distant third.
Time will tell.

If it's not being spent on Secret Service it would be wasted some other ways...think $900 toilet seat, hammer or whatever.

What a crock, do you think they are going to fire every agent on his detail? Their base salaries are what they are he is costing them the extras like travel and hotel rooms. Their salaries and benefits will continue to be paid whether he ends his campaign or not. Plus he has the right to bow out on his time schedule, not yours.

I tend to think that where politics are concerned, there is what there is reported in the news, and then there is what really happened. But as you say, time will tell. I'd rather they scrap the whole thing and draft Elizabeth Warren or Julio Castro before they bring in Joe Biden.

Sanders is costing each tax payer $0.04 per year to keep running for office! Quick, get your pitchforks! Accounting for the fact that he has only had security detail since 02/03/16, and assuming he will maintain secret service security until the end of the convention:
$38,000 per day x 365 days in the year = $13,870,000 per year
$13,870,000 per year / 318,900,000 Americans (2014) = $0.04349325807 ≈ $0.04 per year per American†* ----------------------- † = Assumes that all 318.9 million Americans pay some form of taxes which contribute to paying for this expenditure.
* = Assumes that the $38,000 estimation is accurate.
I might also add that Hillary has had Secret Service protection since she left the white house 16 years ago (as she is entitled to). The woman hasn't driven herself anywhere in two decades and wants us to believe she knows about the struggles of the working class. ETA: [Bloomberg.com] "Hillary's E-Mails May Cost Taxpayers Millions"This article is from March 2015, I wonder what her tab is up to by now.

In all honesty why does Sanders need Secret Service protection? My my what a snob you are. Assuming because people who have money don't understand the struggle of the working class. I think you're going to find your boy Bernie has at some point lost himself in his attempt to grab power. After years of a mediocre career this attention and perks of being "someone" has gone to his head. The chance for him to really build something meaningful is dying each day because of the decisions he is making today. What I see happening is Bernie just becomes an annoying footnote in Democratic history and Elizabeth Warren becomes known as the true leader of the Progressives.

And this kind of shit is why I will never formally affiliate with either party. They're both equally awful.

Rats you read this before I had a chance to change it to a "snobby" thing to say. But it doesn't change the sentiment of the comment.

Not because he may be annoying Hillary because she can take care of herself. But he is letting this whole power trip go to his head and what could have been the start of a positive movement he is ruining it by letting his ego get in the way. This is more about the man then the Democratic Party.

While I'm not a Bernie fan, I think it's better he stays in so that his constituents remain in as well. Hillary can gradually win them over.
