SO'S daughter got her first period last week. She is 10 almost 11. The few days before she got diarrhea and since then, she is still having issues. Still soft, going more than usual. Should we be concerned yet?? Geez, it's been forever since I've had a period (hysterectomy), so I'm not sure what to expect anymore! My feeling is that her body is just getting used to itself again. I'm having her stop dairy for a couple of days to see if that works. Any body have any input? Help!

Period poop is a real thing.
I get it with every period.
I even read an article on it recently.
Let me see if I can find it.

I went to search for the article for you, but if you just google "period poop" literally hundreds of articles come up for what it is and why it happens.
Totally normal.

It used to happen to me, though really only for the first day. The uterine cramping went along with the intestinal cramping.

Also the only time I crave dairy is during my period. I normally can't eat cheese but I'll take a bite out of a block of cheddar Liz Lemon style if I'm on my period.

Haha!! Period Poop, this just cracks me up! My advice is stock up. Nothing worse than having her tell you at 9:00pm that she is out of supplies. I always have a secret stash for my girls.

Normal, unfortunately. Because just dealing with a period isn't bad enough on it's own.

This is so real. Anything else I would write is TMI but is the only good thing about AF.

I've had the period shits (for the entire week) with every period, for the last 40 years. My DD gets them as well. Just adds another dimension of fun to the experience.

I always thought it was just me! This board rocks sometimes. I get it the first day or two.

Unfortunately, I have to agree that it's totally normal. I had this happen all the time during my teen and young adult years.

My input? Set up an appointment with a dr/nurse that can talk to her, ( and I really apologize for this) Instead of posting about her on the internet.
I just about died went my mother told every person she knew when I started.

Thanks for the replies, my thought was normal but wanted more opinions. Yes, she will be going to Dr just for a well check. And she is aware of me posting and asking about this. She wants to know she's not the only one, too. Thanks again!

I never got that, but I did get a lot of gas two days beforehand. Guess it was an early warning system! Glad to be done with it now.

Totally normal. It's how I know mine is on the way, it starts about a day to day and a half before.

Another period pooper. And I get gas too. 2-3 days before I start the gas starts and then the day before I get the poops. Nothing like feeling icky and having to poop all the time only to find out the period has also started. It IS kinda nice to get a warning tho if you're not regular.

Ewww. I used to have this problem but didn't know there was a term for it and didn't know it was normal. I had a hysterectomy last year and am so glad to be done with all that.
