I've been obsessing over the Bose noise-cancelling earbuds (QC20) for a couple of months. I travel frequently and my boss swears they are a game changer. The price tag is ridiculous. I've tried to snag a pair on Craigslist for about 60% of new but have not been able to make a deal a few times.
I have three back to back trips in the next 2 weeks and am on the edge of pulling the buy-new trigger. The Amazon reviews back up the claims of amazingness.
Do you have them or have you tried them out? What say the peas?

I have the headphones and not earbuds and they are awesome. I love watching Netflix while my kids are gesturing wildly and I can't hear a damn thing they say.

Game changer. I flew to Greece last year and my friend brought 2 sets of Bose headphones knowing I'd love them. They made all the difference in the world and I could relax and sleep with them on. My husband travels all the time and has some, I just never thought it'd make much difference until I actually used them.

I had the ear buds but they aggrevated my ears on international flights. My dh uses them now and bought me the headphones. Much better. They don't cancel out ALL noise but pretty good.

I have the headphones on as we ''speak'' and they are excellent. DD's SO is a musician, audio, tech guy and he concurs.

Every member of our family has a pair of Beats Studio Wireless headphones. In addition, our 14 y.o. has a pair of Beats Powerbeats 2 Wireless earphones.
While I personally dislike & never use earphones, I highly recommend the headphones. I wear them to sports tournaments when our son is a participant to avoid the "trash talk" (aka insults, body shaming, racial slurs) directed toward him from parents on opposing teams. While he's learned over the years to focus on the game & block out chatter, the headphones have certainly made weekends more enjoyable for me.
My husband is a frequent business traveler & wears his headphones on every trip. If only I could convince him to wear them during tournaments as well...

Oh snap, I'm picking some up tomorrow. Categorizing as a work expense in the budget, haha! I trust 10 pea opinions more than 10,000 amazon reviews. Thanks for helping me get off the fence on this one.
I can't justify the space in my travel bag for the full headphones, and I'm normally an earbud person anyway. I do see lots of men with the full headphones on planes though!

AN i too have been on the fence about these for a while and i can get them for free with our points- but always seem to hesitate whether to get the in ear or over ear ones. I have a hard time with the ear buds usually and am afraid to get them and not be able to wear them. I have tried the over ear headphones and love, love, love them but struggle with their size. See the dilemma ?

Dh and I both have the headphones....love them. I have had other passengers with the earbuds sing their praises. I like the idea of them taking up less space but on long flights earbuds start to feel uncomfortable on me.

Best Buy is a lot more convenient for me if there is no benefit either way. |

Thanks for asking this. I have a enough points on my business credit card and have seen that they have Bose headphones and I've thought about ordering them for plane travel. Nothing else interests me for the rewards besides getting gift cards. I should pull the trigger and order them.

See the dilemma ? Bose earbuds come with multiple ear tips so that you can get the right fit for you. I have the regular earbuds and they are the only ones I have ever been able to wear without pain. I also have the noise cancelling headphones from our expat days. DH loaned me his on a transatlantic trip once and I was so happy that I went and bought my own pair. I found they really cut down on the stress and tiredness I normally feel on long flights. I now wear them on every flight I take, no matter how short. Save |

There is something about kids' voices on a plane (and loud talking people) that drives me to drink whilst confined in a tiny chair. I use these headphones on every flight and anywhere I need to concentrate or just have peace and quiet. Well worth the money.

We splurged before our last long flight and omg why didn't we buy them sooner! 2 thumbs up. Love them. And I love that I can just pop the earbuds (in their case) right into my jacket pocket when I'm done with them. Glad we went with earbuds for the smaller packing size.

This won't help you as you need them soon. But I bought DD a pair of the headphones last year during a Black Friday Lightning Deal from Amazon for over half off. The earpieces rotate to flat and they collapse on themselves. And come with a carrying case. It's probably about 2" thick and the size of a CD. I really, really, really regret not buying 4 of them.

DH has the headphones, and DD10 (who is very sensitive to noise when she's about to fall asleep) used them every night. DS10 can watch TV or have friends over in his room, and she doesn't hear a thing.

My husband is another frequent traveler He has hearing lose in one ear and really needs the protection of a good quality headphone He has the bose headphones and he loves them Won't fly without them He got me a pair an I also love them I use them at home and when I travel Well worth the price in my OSHO

My daughter has the headphones and won't travel without them! Hubby has the earbuds and travels the world (literally) with them. They both LOVE them. But we are also huge Bose fans. We have lots of Bose products including in the cars.  |

After they packed us in like sardines at our office, I got a pair. While they are incredible, they are not the miracle you might expect. They cut the noise NEARLY off, but I can still hear. You have to play some soothing music in the background to really make sure outside noise goes away.

I bought a pair each of Audio-Technica noise cancelling headphones for my husband and myself. They got good reviews and were about 1/3 the price of the Bose (I think $100 vs $300 if I remember correctly). Although we fly pretty frequently, I didn't feel like I wanted to spend $700. Well, now we use them every time we fly and both agree that they ARE a game-changer. Tunes out all the engine noise and you can actually hear the movie! The Bose may well be much better but I can't praise the ones I got enough.
ETA - oops, I just re-read your post and you are talking about ear buds. I can't wear those at all, airplane or not. The ones I got are the big comfy "surround your whole ear with cushiony softness" kind. They fold down and pack flat, and they justify the space they take up in my carry-on.
