I understand missing loved ones who have died, but it just makes me uncomfortable to read messages written to them on Facebook. I didn't know (until today ) that Heaven had Facebook. I don't know how Fred's friends feel. I don't write on his wall (I did post a couple of song links but he never replied... ). But I do tag him in posts. Not everything but If there is something I feel that is important enough to tag him. Obviously not for his benefit but he had people in his life who cared about him and I presume would want to see that his family is doing ok.

Some of those posts are "like farming" types of things and some are scams (I especially hate the ones that steal a sick child's photo from someone's account and then claim that if they get x likes Fb will pay for their surgery) and some of them are just the modern equivalent of the good old chain letter. They exist to replicate themselves and they do a great job of it. Cut and paste and type amen if you agree. Unexpected money will show up if you do (it's worth a try, people say, it worked for me!), bad things will happen if you don't. Utter crap, the same as the old chain letters were. I despise the emotional blackmail aspect of the "only a few people will care enough to do this" and I scroll on immediately if I see it. If anything I will write my own post about the issue if it's something I do want to support and promote. But honestly, about 90% of what shows up on Fb now is junk, or stuff I don't want to see. And it makes me dislike people who I actually like IRL.

Oh those drive me nuts as well. I never copy and share and so forth.
Or how about the ones that FB is now going to share all your info, or your messages are not private or something along those lines.
You know what, even if it is true, I don't hide anything.. if the world wants to see my stupid message about going to the grocery store, so be it. Enough already.

Just think, how many friends would we really have if we deleted all the forwards, copy/paste, selling stuff, (I'll add this one) political ones.. I might be down to 10 friends.. haha... and you can't have that!!

I understand missing loved ones who have died, but it just makes me uncomfortable to read messages written to them on Facebook. I didn't know (until today ) that Heaven had Facebook. I just see it as a high tech way to remember and honor those they've lost. It's not that different than laying flowers, candles, stuffed animals and notes that happens after losing someone.

I have recently returned to FB after about a three year hiatus because we moved and friends wanted a way to keep in touch with me and this seemed the easiest way. I don't think I am doing FB correctly. I don't copy and paste, I don't share funny videos, and I don't share my political opinion. Well mostly, I did make my cover photo a campaign for "Giant Meteor 2016". Oh and all my posts are after the fact, not before or during.
But I have seen posts from family members that really have me shaking my head. Do they really feel that way? Or are they simply caught up in the hype and figure any post is a good post and not bandwidth sludge?

^^^ I have the same relationship with Facebook!!! I have one Aunt who ONLY ever posts MEMEs, jokes, funny (to her...) things, etc.--ALL.THE.TIME. and her only comment with those posts is 'giggle!' Drives me CRAZY!!!
I really only use Facebook as a way to private message some of my friends / family members... but I might just have to post one of those 'share or you hate puppies' statuses, just to see what people say!!

I guarantee you, If you post one of those damn "copy and paste if you agree posts" I am going to hide you or unfriend you. They bother me so much.

I like the ones that are heavy on nonsensical martyrdom: "I know most of you won't care that I am dying of malignant scabies and terminal hives, but some of you will. Paste this status for 41 minutes so I will know you eat raw cookie dough too, and that the baby Jesus comes first in your lives. Let's see who cares that I am perishing in a fit of itchiness and self pity....1 like = 1 amen" On my Facebook, these posts are accompanied by lots of ellipses and grammatical errors. Beyond thankful I have no "friends" like this!!

I keep seeing this one: This year July has 5 fridays 5 saturdays and 5 sundays. This happens once every 823 years. This is called money bags. So copy this to your status and money will arrive within 4 days. Based on Chinese philosophy of Feng Shui. Those who read and do not copy will be without money. So let's all try our luck at this and see what happens!! This is exactly how it was written- I copied and pasted it here. If you'd like, you can tell them that actually, it will happen again in 2022. And it happened more recently in 2011.
