I can't live up to "amazing" "wonderful" "best life" everything.
What if your life borders on mediocre?
And so many lines don't apply to me at all. Travel? Yeah, to work and back. To Walmart. To the grocery store.
I need lines geared toward those who don't travel far. Who everything isn't "best day ever" and "love my life."
I need some:
"Local sights"
"Today was a good one"
"Happy moment"
"The park"
"It's the little things"
I can't possibly be the only scrapper who doesn't go on international trips and two week cruises every year. I can't be the only one who doesn't lead an exciting, amazing, incredible life.

You know, I love my life but it is pretty run of the mill. I need things like: "Hello from the back yard" "The rummage sales are lovely this time of year" "Lunch in my kitchen. They have amazing PBJ there." "Remember that time the kid slept late? That was awesome!"

I've been messing around on the PL app for a couple of days and last night I noticed a journaling card titled "I honestly [heart] every second." I just had to roll my eyes.

Oh gosh, this is so true!! This is why I loved Ali's 'Tough' kit and stamp. I wish I hadn't missed it. We all have tough days and it is therapeutic to me to scrap those times as well as good times.

Agreed. It would be cute to see some stamps say everyday life things like:
Wow - what a mess! What happened LOL Enjoying the little things The good life
Things like these would be awesome to show that just ordinary moments in life - like every day things are awesome too :-)

Mine would have to be things like "I made it through another work week" and "My cat is the best cat ever."

I love all these ideas. Everyday life would be a great line.
Also, some sayings people actually use!

Also, some sayings people actually use! And that brings us to: What are they? What do we want the manufacturers to make? What do we say? I wonder if they could ever get the rights to use popular movie and television quotes. Maybe they could have a line: "It's a meme world out there!" There could be frames and overlays for 4x6" pics that would have a journalling space above and below the photo (on the frame), and coordinating small stickers to write what you want the meme to say.

Oh, and I'd like more journaling cards you can actually journal on.

Let's listen to the people we scrap about and then make a list. I see CB has OMG and "I am SO over this!" on their new summer line. Do you think some of the fb and texting shorthand would fly?

And can we see a vehicle that was manufactured after 1965? Or some technological products that were made after 1990?

At expo i saw so many 'home is whereever i am with you.' Why add with you? Not all of us have a 'you.' I wanted it for pictures of my home where i lived with my ex. I completely agree with needing everyday stuff.

My ordinary would be more like: I made it through the week without drinking wine The laundry got folded Mum actually cooked a meal Home before 6.30pm, yay

Love the ideas here. I find myself sifting thru supplies often but having the idea of what I want to say in my head. This results usually in alpha stickers and/or sorta making my own journal cards.
I have had some fun making my own digital cards lately, maybe I will try some of these phrases to share.
I struggle with stuff like family too. I have a wonderful loving family, but my definition of family is not typical/perfect. There's divorce, and step parents, and quasi-step children... I often laugh when wanting to do something about my boyfriend's, daughter's dog...he's like my quasi-step-granddog.
And then I don't like when the "tough stuff" or "in memory" type collections are all sad & negative. Not all people view tough things as necessarily bad?!
I feel like some designers have being going more this route - think Kelly Purkey and Cathy Zielske.

I completely agree with needing everyday stuff. My mantra (before I got married- well, sometimes even after) was home is where my shoes are. There have to templates for PL sized cards online. You can print your own. Mine would include: Laundry? I just did it last week. Feed your own damn self. No, I will not do your homework. Quit fighting with your brother. Because I said so. And thankfully, I do take a fun tropical vacation every year, but I still scrap the other 51 more mundane weeks out of the year. And EP has a cute The Park line. My LSS has lots of local papers and I love that.

Yes, yes, yes. How can so many days be "the best day ever"?
I'm always on the hunt for stamps and stickers with every day sayings that I would use.
I actually have a list in a little notebook.
"It's the little things" "Time well spent" "Real life" "Lovely day"

Peppermint Creative has neat stuff for pocket scrapbooking -- it's digital, but the files can be printed, recolored, etc. Check out her Life in Pictures section -- search for "bad day" for those not-so-fabulous moments.

I didn't kill the kids today. We got ready for ____ in less than 3 hours and were on time. I survived the PTA bake sale and lived to tell about it. My kid is grumpy because she had her braces adjusted. I hate the dentist. And about travel lines... not everyone goes to NY or Paris (except my sister...). Some people think Tacoma or Yakima is a vacation...

There's been a running joke on the Paperclipping Roundtable podcast about Izzy's imaginary "No, thank you!" line. There was an extended discussion in one episode about how not every day is perfect or the best day ever and what kind of less gushing sentiments we'd prefer to see.
I've never felt like the sentiments commercially available were the kinds of things I think or say, especially as a NZ-born realist. We don't gush. We're not earnest. We prefer understatement and facetiousness that is in opposition to American-style rah rah positivity. I'm not necessarily saying that I would want sarcasm on scrapbook pages - that might not read well. And becoming an American citizen has trained me to spin things a little more optimistically. Ali Edwards makes products that are closer to what I want to say. Maybe someone needs to do a PL set about housework and staying close to home.
I have wished for exclamations that were more general - wow! look at this! look what I found! what?! no! - that could work for stories about special days exploring foreign cities or about finding condoms tucked into the sex books at the library again (true story).

I honestly can only think of a couple of people IRL that seem to have the rah rah, best day ever, my life is awesome positivity. I want a stamp that says dammit. I say it quite frequently with my youngest who is a Tasmanian devil.

As a fellow Kiwi I can definitely relate! I guess that's why I mostly just do my own journaling, stay away from pre-made phrases etc. On the other hand, I have put Ali's Tough kit to one side because I just couldn't face opening and using it - I've had a couple of crap years and didn't want to think about them or anything 'tough' at the moment. I think what strikes me about products which are available at the moment is how similar everything is - maybe because of American Crafts' ownership of so many brands?

Yassssss!!!!! We need normal stuff!! Laundry, running errands (again!), paying bills (again!!), kids costing an arm and a leg for their activities, people who piss you off, cars needing repairs, job-related get-togethers, etc. The best-day-ever stuff is crap. I mean, it occurs, but damn, the normal stuff occurs waaayy more often! We NEED normal cards!!!
