We recently moved and Sprouts is the closest grocery store to our new house. I've only been once to get a few things and didn't have time to browse, so I don't know much about it. If you shop there, what should I try? Or avoid? Oh, and it's across the street from a Target, so I can get my "normal" shampoo, laundry & cleaning stuff there. We try to eat reasonably healthy, but I'm not super into organic or anything.

I get all my produce from Sprouts. You can walk out with a weeks worth of produce for under $20. I buy pantry staples at places like Target, Safeway, etc as Sprouts' prices can be expensive, and they don't carry a lot of brands. However, that being said, when Sprouts has sales on pantry items they are usually a good deal.

Sprouts is within walking distance of my house but I still find myself driving to Trader Joe's or Ralphs instead. I like the produce and bulk selection at Sprouts but not much else. I find that they are more expensive and I am not the type of person who needs the organic version of everything I eat, so I tend to only go there if I need something and I am not planning on driving to a different store.
My Sprouts is also very tiny, the aisles can barely fit one cart, the parking lot is awful (why I walk there) and it seems to always be busy. So that colors my opinion of the store as well.

Shop on Wednesday. It is the last day of the previous week's specials and the first day of the next week's specials, so twice as many things are on special.

I buy all our meat from Sprouts. It's all hormone free, not injected with water, etc. They have great deals on produce, it's worth checking their weekly sales because you can often find what is usually expensive produce at rock bottom prices. I like their bulk section for flour/oatmeal/rice/etc., but I do avoid buying nuts and snack type things from there, I've seen too many people stick their dirty hands in the bins to grab something to munch on while they shop. I've not had good luck with their dairy items, the milk never lasts very long and the prices are way higher than Trader Joes.

I loved shopping at Sprouts. We moved and now my shopping choices are limited and far away. I got all my produce there. It was better quality and less expensive than anywhere else I shopped. I didn't buy much else there unless I wanted to try something a little different.

I get my produce from Sprouts- it's always cheaper than Safeway, King Soopers, Albertsons, Walmart, etc. They have a great variety, and when DD#2 was still home, we'd pick a new to us fruit or veggie to try.
I get meat there when it's on sale (they often have bnless skinless chicken breast for less than $1.99/lb), and this week they have cheese at a really good price ($1.99/lb for mild cheddar).
I like their bulk spice section (but they need to put scoops back there).
Their staff is very knowledgeable and helpful in the medicinal section (I always get help during cold season).
Sometimes their bulk grains/candy/staples are on sale at a good price too.
I rarely buy their snacks, paper/cleaning/toiletries, or dairy as those are usually more expensive than King Soopers or anywhere else.
I love Wednesdays, as both the previous week's sales and the present week's sales are good on that day.
Be careful that you don't accidentally buy the organic produce- they've changed the layout of the stores around so that the organic produce is in the middle of the regular produce. And the green produce bags are for the organic stuff. If you put regular produce in a green bag, the cashiers will assume you're buying organic and charge the higher price. I've bought organic (on purpose) a couple times when it's on sale for cheaper than the usual produce, but it doesn't last very long and the store is too far for me to visit more than once a week, so I don't do that anymore.
I used to price match some things at walmart when I don't have time to go into town to Sprouts, but our walmart has drastically reduced their produce section, so they don't often have what I want to price match. Also, bring your own bags for a 5 cent discount per bag. You can sign up for weekly emails, too.

I will buy whatever produce & protein is on sale at Sprouts. They have one of the best mushroom selections around (shitake ). It is not a store I go out of my way to shop at now, but I picked it over Vons (Safeway), Albertsons, Ralphs and Walmart. All are close to our soccer field and Sprouts became a weekly stop while DS was at practice (until he started driving himself). Ours also has a great in-house sushi chef, but I'm not sure if that is offered in all their stores.

I love Sprouts! I buy all of produce there, they have a great selection, quality and prices are good. Even if prices are slightly higher than Smiths, Von's, Albertsons etc. I think that the quality is worth it. Their meet is also great quality. The housemade sausages are good. I do not typically buy staples there as the don't have brands that I prefer. I also like to shop on Wednesdays to get both weeks ad prices. They have an app that has digital coupons and Ibotta also has rebates on products from Sprouts.

Thanks for all the feedback! Responses seem in line with what I noticed--the produce was great and much cheaper than elsewhere and I loaded up on grapes, peaches and plums while I was there, but I will have to drive the extra few miles to do my normal Publix run as well. That's good to know about their meat and the Wednesday sales, so I'll have to make another run next week to check that out. With 3 kids, we have to go every few days for fresh fruit anyway, so I'm happily surprised that they have such good prices on fruits and veggies.

While I like the idea of shopping there, lately I've noticed the office looks awful and I don't end up getting it. Dh says he thinks the produce always looks terrible there. I ended up joining the people's co-op in ocean beach since their stuff looks way better.

We like their pies, turnovers and strudel bites. The fruit is hit and miss for me. Some had absolutely no sweetness to them.

They have some "no sugar added" candy. The "no sugar added" dark chocolate is sinfully delicious.
While they do have some good things, do not expect things that I would consider "normal." I have a recipe that calls for a bag/package of frozen green beans, package of spinach, and a package of broccoli, and they carry none of it.
They always have organic pumpkin which is a regular buy for me for my dogs.

Check out the deli. I like Boar's Head roast beef. Yum! That may vary from store and location but I found the deli selection to be well stocked. Sign up to get their e-mails or mailer on the sales that will be featured. Check out Mineral Fusion they have a sulfate free line of shampoo that's natural and nail polish as well. Some of their stuff is pricey so I wait until it goes on sale. If you are gluten free or want to eat less gluten they carry a wide variety of products for that. Check out the healthier snack options. SO has been trained to bring me back the Island Tropical Trail Mix if he goes ot Sprouts without me.

I like Sprouts in theory, but lately have had terrible luck with their produce. Sure, strawberries were a dollar but they were so bitter that we had to throw them away. Same with the apricots. I bought a watermelon and it was completely rotten inside. Now I bring the Sprouts ad to Super Target because they price match and the quality is better.
I have had great luck with meat at Sprouts, though. I have never been disappointed in the meat.

I find the produce to be not-so-fresh and goes bad rather quickly. I no longer buy produce from Sprouts.
I love their bulk foods/spices. The 12 flavor gummy bears are AMAZING!!
The deli and meats are great quality - no issues there ever.

I don't normally as there isn't one close to me. The two I've been to are usually packed. I was just in there the other day for a certain supplement the dr wanted me on. They have a really good selection and reasonable price. There was also someone there that helped me find what I was looking for. Very nice. And I'm in my 40's lol! I do like there selection of different kind of cheese. They have ones that you can't find most places. LIke white cheddar and kinds I can't spell! And reasonable prices too for the cheese.
