I just finished watching the first episode of The Great British Baking Show. Looks like it's going to be a great season. I'm really craving a piece of Black Forest cake now. Lol!

I've heard such great things about this show, got to remember to DVR it. Baking is my passion, love it, and so does my youngest ds.

It always amazes me they film outside in a tent. I'm rewatching the season that is on Netflix and so far they've had issues with chocolate melting and Baked Alaska melting because it was the hottest day of the year. I can only imagine what the humidity and rain do to what they are baking.

I watched the biscuit show last night and haven't watched the first show. I had no idea there were so many ways to make a biscuit (the British ones). I loved Louie's display the most.

As already mentioned this was shown in the UK at this time last year and the winner ended up getting quite a bit of publicity so if you don't want it spoiled then I suggest you don't google anything about the show, not even recipes because the first thing that will come up is the winner's name. I thought it was a great season and apart from two people, I really liked all the other constants and would have been happy if any of them won.
When we watched it last year my friend and I took turns baking something from the show of the previous week and bought along when we watched the show the next week. I made a lemon madeira cake first and then my friend made biscotti from show two. It was lots of fun. WE were just talking about it a few days and wondering when the new season would start, but if they aren't even filming yet then we've got awhile to wait. I also watched the Australian, Irish and South African versions last year. I wasn't a fan of the Irish one - they only do two bakes instead of 3 in each show, but the other two were both enjoyable as well, but the British one is by far the best.

Not concerned if I find out who won a baking competition. I just like to see the end results.

Thanks to a rainy holiday weekend, I watched my very first episode yesterday and quite enjoyed it!

Not concerned if I find out who won a baking competition. Good for you then. Other people (like myself) obviously have much less exciting lives than you do and don't like to know the ending of a "baking competition" before it airs.

Watched it yesterday, too. Amazed how fast you (ok, we, DD and I) got caught up in it. When the one ladies mousse didn't have time to set, we felt her pain immediately. I'm not going to try and find out who won (but I think I heard something in the news of special cake winner baked?...) but I'm okay if it accidentally gets spoiled for me. I watch reruns that I've seen before and still enjoy it somehow.

I like the show, but don't see it as exciting as an NFL, NBA, or world cup championship. Probably because there are lots of other shows out there on food network and the cooking channel that are similar in nature. It isn't unique enough to stand out as something memorable. I also see you didn't quote everything I said. That part is bolded.

Just perhaps my comments are there for those other people who find it exciting and memorable...those people who don't have American football or 1000 other baking shows to watch. Or have I missed something and you are the only person who is ever going to read this thread and therefore must be the only person I am talking to?
I also see you didn't quote everything I said. Ditto.

I think my post was pretty obvious in it's meaning...i.e. if you don't care who the winner (that would apply to you), then feel free to google anything and everything about the show.

No. It was a comment on a thread to the people who watch the show. I'm one of them. I did not believe it was aimed specifically to me, why would I? I gave my reason for why I liked the show and you got all pissy because you care who wins. I find that very odd. Um, okay, I can't read your mind, but now I know who you were directing your post towards.Ditto. Yea! You know how to use the bold feature!

I gave my reason for why I liked the show and you got all pissy because you care who wins. I find that very odd. I made a general comment about the winner for the benefit of those who may not want to know, you chose to quote me and reply and take the time to point out that you are too sophisticated to care about such trivial matters and adding the little laughing smilie to illustrate "how amusing" we lesser mortals who care about such things are. That's what I find odd...your need to bolster your own ego on a thread about a TV cooking show - so I called you on your none too subtle put down reply...but nice try now blaming what you started on someone else.

That's the way you see it, but you are wrong. Of all the ways to bolster my self esteem, making myself look good because of a show is not one of them. I know you don't know me from one pea or another, but I think little of myself. If you feel so inclined, check my history. I'm a fat, ugly, college dropout. I don't pretend to be an amazing person when I am not. Geez.
